The long term solution is the community, but an unarmed citizen can't stand up to these gangs.  to make my point offer to the officers to walk their beats unarmed.... I beat they will decline. Crime can be deterred by threat of force. Look at cities/states that allow you to protect your life liberty and property.....

I wish Mayor Booker and the residents of Newark the best of luck in tackling this violent crime. A lot of people immediately point to the spike in violence as a sign of Booker's failure-yet the ignore all the other positive events that have happened in Newark this year alone as a sign of his success.

I hope this works. The residents of Newark need to be safe. Activities are good but if it is not safe to attend the activities,it does no good.
