I grew up doing that trick too but we would use vice grips to put the kink in the tube.Another fun trick is to pull the plastic base of of the bottom and lay the piccolo pete on its side and light it and it would shoot down the street,we called it a nigger chaser.Good times!

lol what I like to do is take the powder and fuse out, then put the powder into a 2lt bottle and put a small hole in cap for fuse, close it up and get powder to settle to cap, light and stand well back.

hey if you want a real loud bang, Then you get a 5 gal bucket. Fill it with sand about 1/2 of bucket, Then you get about 1foot and 6 inch of 1/2 inch pipe. Keep both ends open, put in hammered piccolo pete in til the end flush the end of pipe. Last you stick the pipe in the sand of bucket 1/2 way in. light the fuse and stand back and hear it go BOOM! it's safe but LOUD!

@DrDirtynino it creates a pocket where the gas from the burning gunpowder/chemicals cannot escape fast enough... since it looks to be made of a metal tube, all the gasses need to do is build up enough then BOOM it ruptures the metal pipe...
