Had the pleasure of riding in the engine with two of my uncles who were engineers on these trips from buzzards bay to Hyannis and back and then down to Falmouth. I was maybe 11 or 12 at the time... Absolutely amazing!
Cape cod central runs the dinner train, and teh new mass coastal does the trash train. State of mass screwed bay colony over and kicked them off the cape and also took their taunton lines. they are now in dartmouth with like 4 locos left.
Great clip ! The CC & H ran from Braintree (where you could connect to/fr the red line) to Hyannis. As you can see it was very popular, and people also rode it as local transportation on the cape. The service ended when the Commonwealth of Mass., pulled funding from it.
I rode this when i was 3 im so pissed i forgot most of it. When the cch shut down i think thats when they stopped going over the bring. Man this railroad was cool i just wish i could go back in time and really enjoy it
Do you remember a blind woman, her dog and her son that used to ride that train? That was my sister. I only rode once roundtrip from Braintree to Hyannis. It was alot of fun. There is some video of that trip out here someplace in YouTubeland. Glad you found yourself in the video.
@PKingman My dad grew up in middleboro from 64 to the late 70's and early 80's. Since he's never been a railfan, so I've been trying to learn more about the railroading that used to and still occurs in that vicinity. I've been to the Buzzard's Bay bridge numerous times on trips back to the area, but never seen a train there and rarely seen the bridge operate. Interesting operations out there in general. Any info would be greatly appreciated
@Pup1234567 I don't get down there from Boston much anymore but from what I know there is still a thing called the trash train that I think makes a round trip from Rochester down to the Cape and back daily. And there maybe a dinner train that may or may not cross the bridge during the summer. Amtrak is long gone. So is the CC&H. I think that the Bay Colony runs the trah train, but that may have changed also. Not sure who you would ask.

I _was_ on this train! I was one of the trainman (Assistant Conductors) - you got two views of me! (see 1:47) Nice. I was very excited to find this!
I remember the days of the CC&H with fondness.

Do remember Herb Cowles? He was a Conrail guy that used to throw the switch for your train and Amtrak at Middleboro. Got a video of him out here too.

This must be the last time those coaches saw service! I don't even want to know how much rust was behind the stainless :-(

1988, eh? I might've been on that train. I still remember when the CCSR crossed the bridge.
