  • Lol.. The 1st tutorial had 99,000 views, but this only have 50,000 views.. It's funny how lazy people are :-D

I love you, Bucky! No homo. But your tutorials are G-R-E-A-T! I've subbed you :-)

  • Dear Sir You are a great man , And I love and respect you from the core of my heart and want to speak you in reality

  • OBJECTIVE C IS TOO COFUSING FOR ME!! :(

  • HAY, My first MAC was an iMAC too! I HAVE THE SAME KEYBOARD.

  • Sweet your face is back Fucky!

  • In spanish Pound translates to Libra, first used by ancient romans and its abbreviation is "lbs"

  • For some reason you remind me of Swiftor from Cod black ops swiftor says lol

  • lbs = lots of bulls**t

  • how did you learn objective-c without a mac?

  • @yoeriboven WMware for example... I do write some code in xcode right now in mac osX and build and run on iphone and my computer runs windows7 ;)

  • @yoeriboven Books O_O

  • @yoeriboven By watching Youtube videos teaching them. =P

  • Bucky you are my hero

  • your face!!!!!

  • Lbs. Means libro or "scale"

  • if this is your first mac then you learned pretty quickly about objective C

  • lbs means pounds in latin. it originated from somewhere like rome or greece

  • @kyungninja It's from Latin (which is from Rome); libro which means scale.

  • Unfortunatly you can only get the numerical pad if you order a wired keyboard with a Mac, it'd be good if they still made them for their wireless keyboards maybe as an option

  • aaand... you lost me. Not your fault though, I'm just a slow learner. Great videos, you explain things in a very... commonplace way, rather than referring to mathematical nonsense that no one understands. I'll be watching the whole series... maybe a few times at this rate XD nice work.

  • yeah, mac keyboard is small ) maybe they want we get used to iPhone/iPad keyboard, that are small

  • Oh Man, Good to see you again =D

  • Thank you very much. your tutorials are realy very helpful and you explain very good .

  • why cant you put ...and %i pounds weight " or can you?

    thankyou .....leif

  • thx

  • This video confused me, it is either because I am using a newer version of Xcode so it is different, or I am just not understanding much.

  • This was the main part of objective c u guys knw i reached 35 and i came back to know where i was getting all wrong ...

  • Great, your faceback, thanks mate.

  • Why are my YouTube suggestions always other tutorials but never the tutorial directly after the one I'm watching? If I'm watching video 5, it suggests all kinds of videos (including 1, 3, and 4). It recommends the C tutorial number 6 and the iPhone development tutorial number 6. The suggestion system fails.

  • Hey Bucky, how much for a private tutor, Please email me back if you can I will pay hourly. By the way GREAT Tutorials.

  • bucky ur awesome bro..... :) I loved the way u explain things :) it makes learning computer programming FUN....

  • uh i dont have tutorial.m in my command line tool, its probably in cocoa but im not sure

  • @vipashit In the newest xcode, its called main.m

  • They use lbs for pounds because it is short for libra which is I think Latin for scale or balance.

  • why would you want to use NSLog rather than printf?

  • @RandyQuaid Because we are learning Objective-C and not C.

  • Curly Braces:)

  • pounds are abbreviated lbs because they are called "libras" in other languages =D

  • Thanks Bucky, great tutorials. Much better and concise that any others I have come across. One thing, how come you don't reply to some peoples questions here??? I would like to see what your answers are to some pretty good questions posed here. Thanks again for your efforts uploading these in your own free time. Cheers man.

  • @taddow1 cause youtube comments are unorganized. he has a forum .com go there ask questions. plus he has tons of vids of course no one has time to check all of them and answer questions

  • Hi Bucky and everyone, how come we need to set two variables for age?

    i.e. age and a.

Why couldn't we use -(void) setAge: (int) age; instead of -(void) setAge: (int) a; ?

Is this because we can't set the age variable using setAge?

Thanks heaps, still trying to get my ahead around this all.

  • @ithinkimightbe a is just a parameter which is received by the method. it's not a variable.

  • @ithinkimightbe a isn't the age that is the set value.

  • it's like a phone... hello, hello? ROFL

    thanks for the tutorials

  • Like I said on the first video, this is an absolutely fantastic supplement to Learn Objective-C on the Mac. Great Job Bucky.

  • Why lbs?

Pound - The unit is descended from the Roman libra (hence the abbreviation "lb"); the name pound is a Germanic adaptation of the Latin phrase libra pondo, 'a pound weight.

    Source: Wikipedia :)

  • Bucky, I'm trying to follow but i'm using Xcode 4.0.1 and I think there maybe some differences with what you are using.

    Sam

  • @ssamd263 What are you experiencing?

  • @johnkeye , first let me say thanks for this tutorial. I will be receiving an Ipod2 soon and hope to be able to write something for it. As for Xcode 4.0.1, there are some minor differences but my problem stemmed from me miss typing a few things. thanks again, Sam

  • @ssamd263 I haven't made the tutorial, I just wanted to help ;)

Congratulations on your new toy. When you get it, keep in mind that you need to either have a developer account or jailbreak it to get your own programs onto it. If you don't plan on plonking $100 on getting a developer account, don't update the device. Have fun :)

  • If everybody taught like you i wouldnt seem so stupid :(

  • @interface is used to DECLARE the actions you want to do (ie, I want to start a car)

@implementation is used to DEFINE how to do those actions (ie, to start a car, put the key in the ignition, then turn the key)

  • it comes from the Latin phrase Libra Pondo, which is designation from Roman times of weight equivalent to 1 pound. But I'm sure someone has already answered that here ;)

  • You have a nice face Bucky. But. Its distracting. Programming is hard enough. I need to focus.

  • I got 1 error. I have the exact same code as you...

  • @Kenpotf objective c isnt that much different from c,so i guess he knows c and just hat to adopt the differences

  • Love these videos, he explains things very very well and quite humorous

  • First Mac? Where did you learn to do all of this?! :) Awesome videos!

  • It seems like waste...

why are you using the variables "a" and "w" instead of just using "age" and "weight" in your setAge and setWeight methods?

I'm brand new to programming so there might be something I'm missing, BUT it seems like its a waste to not just use "age" and "weight" as your variables in the methods? what am I missing???

  • @MegaMonsterMike because you already have age and weight variables which belong to the instance of the class.

  • @MegaMonsterMike

you cant just change the instance variables. they are private. so you use methods to assign values to it using a temporary interger. which are a and w in this case

  • HEY YOU!!!

    Nice face.

  • ha ha ha ... like a cellphone hello, hello!

  • it was annoying me how he put "and WEIGHT %i pounds"

  • Yeah, the first thing I did when I got my Mac was threw out that stupid keyboard. P.S. These videos are totally helping me pass my class.

  • @davestrand You could've given it too me :P eBay is better than a biin. Always.

  • @9MaxN Oh. I was exaggerating. At work I can't throw anything away without massive amounts of paperwork and approval. It's in my desk collecting dust.

  • Hello Bucky! Thank you very much for your videos! I really didn´t know much about C, I've known BASIC for years but it's totally different. And about Pounds it doesn't make any sense in english at all to write lb for Pounds but in Spanish it´s "Libras" and there you have your Lb but still all spanish speaking countries use MKS system and not pounds so that's my best guess.

  • Great tut bucky!

  • Lol I am gonna call you on your keyboard! XD! BTW great vid!!!!!

  • Your tutorials are fantastic, thank you so much for the dedication in making such a long and informative tutorial series on Obj-C!

  • Objective C so far seems like a dirty language, By that I mean the syntax is not looking as nice as the other languages I know.

BTW bucky; How did you get to learn like every possible language and every possible program (well quite a lot of them)?

  • Great video. Just so you know, lb (the abbreviation for pound) comes from the word "libra", which is the unit the pound is based on.

  • @interface Person: NSObject{ int age; int weight;

    }

during this part, the words age and weight don't turn blue for me...help please?

  • Thanks dude. awesome tutorials.

  • In most other programming languages:

Interface = Class, Method = Function, Implementation = Object.

  • you should give away ur hat!! i like it!

  • Awesome job Bucky!!

  • Why do you need the w and weight? Can't you just use w as the weight or just use weight as the weight?

  • @pizzafootbal I think (I'm not an expert) it's because the 'w' is owned by only that method - so because you're defining it within the header it's the local variable used to call the information passed into the method - because you wouldn't know necessarily exactly what information you're passing (except that it's going to be an integer, because you already declared that).

    Hope that helps =\

  • I think lb is punds in latin. Correct me if I'm wrong

  • @ieatgalapples libra

  • @ieatgalapples sorry I meant pounds not punds. tee hee

  • awesome tutorial !! easy to follow !! Thanks alot !!

  • if its your first mac how come you know so much about objective c? Great tutorials by the way!

  • @arnopoulos119087 I know, thats the same thing I was wondering!

  • Great tutorial, thanks a lot.

  • thank!

  • Yeah, the Mac desktop computers' keyboards are too small... The ones on the laptops are very, very nice though. Like, REALLY nice.

Thanks for the tutorials, btw. Been wondering about Obj-C for a while now

  • Copy= command C paste=command V

Just thought it would help you in your transition : )

  • your head's back! :D

  • From the beginning i didn't like Objective-C at all, i thought it was like a boring programming language but when i saw all of your tutorials they inspired me ALOT, THANK YOU!

  • can you make me a program? im gonna pay you

  • @thenewboston Are you a programmer?

  • i didn´t thought that a programmer don´t looks like a monkey

  • awesome

  • you could also use @property... Then you don't have to define the getter and setter methods... ;-)

  • is implementation like Struck or is it any different ???

    thanks

  • Nice!

  • i like your face
