Unfortunatly you can only get the numerical pad if you order a wired keyboard with a Mac, it'd be good if they still made them for their wireless keyboards maybe as an option
aaand... you lost me. Not your fault though, I'm just a slow learner. Great videos, you explain things in a very... commonplace way, rather than referring to mathematical nonsense that no one understands. I'll be watching the whole series... maybe a few times at this rate XD nice work.
Why are my YouTube suggestions always other tutorials but never the tutorial directly after the one I'm watching? If I'm watching video 5, it suggests all kinds of videos (including 1, 3, and 4). It recommends the C tutorial number 6 and the iPhone development tutorial number 6. The suggestion system fails.
I have been looking for someone to create and build an application for a small company in Australia. If you are interested or know someone who is could you please email me asap on christina.loccisano@hotmail.com for more information and details.
Thanks Bucky, great tutorials. Much better and concise that any others I have come across. One thing, how come you don't reply to some peoples questions here??? I would like to see what your answers are to some pretty good questions posed here. Thanks again for your efforts uploading these in your own free time. Cheers man.
@taddow1 cause youtube comments are unorganized. he has a forum .com go there ask questions. plus he has tons of vids of course no one has time to check all of them and answer questions
Pound - The unit is descended from the Roman libra (hence the abbreviation "lb"); the name pound is a Germanic adaptation of the Latin phrase libra pondo, 'a pound weight.
@johnkeye , first let me say thanks for this tutorial. I will be receiving an Ipod2 soon and hope to be able to write something for it. As for Xcode 4.0.1, there are some minor differences but my problem stemmed from me miss typing a few things. thanks again, Sam
@ssamd263 I haven't made the tutorial, I just wanted to help ;)
Congratulations on your new toy. When you get it, keep in mind that you need to either have a developer account or jailbreak it to get your own programs onto it. If you don't plan on plonking $100 on getting a developer account, don't update the device. Have fun :)
it comes from the Latin phrase Libra Pondo, which is designation from Roman times of weight equivalent to 1 pound. But I'm sure someone has already answered that here ;)
why are you using the variables "a" and "w" instead of just using "age" and "weight" in your setAge and setWeight methods?
I'm brand new to programming so there might be something I'm missing, BUT it seems like its a waste to not just use "age" and "weight" as your variables in the methods? what am I missing???
you cant just change the instance variables. they are private. so you use methods to assign values to it using a temporary interger. which are a and w in this case
@9MaxN Oh. I was exaggerating. At work I can't throw anything away without massive amounts of paperwork and approval. It's in my desk collecting dust.
Hello Bucky! Thank you very much for your videos! I really didn´t know much about C, I've known BASIC for years but it's totally different. And about Pounds it doesn't make any sense in english at all to write lb for Pounds but in Spanish it´s "Libras" and there you have your Lb but still all spanish speaking countries use MKS system and not pounds so that's my best guess.
@pizzafootbal I think (I'm not an expert) it's because the 'w' is owned by only that method - so because you're defining it within the header it's the local variable used to call the information passed into the method - because you wouldn't know necessarily exactly what information you're passing (except that it's going to be an integer, because you already declared that).
From the beginning i didn't like Objective-C at all, i thought it was like a boring programming language but when i saw all of your tutorials they inspired me ALOT, THANK YOU!
Lol.. The 1st tutorial had 99,000 views, but this only have 50,000 views.. It's funny how lazy people are :-D
I love you, Bucky! No homo. But your tutorials are G-R-E-A-T! I've subbed you :-)

Hi Bucky and everyone, how come we need to set two variables for age?
i.e. age and a.
Why couldn't we use -(void) setAge: (int) age; instead of -(void) setAge: (int) a; ?
Is this because we can't set the age variable using setAge?
Thanks heaps, still trying to get my ahead around this all.
ithinkimightbe 10 months ago
@ithinkimightbe a is just a parameter which is received by the method. it's not a variable.
aqcpatrick 9 months ago
@ithinkimightbe a isn't the age that is the set value.

@interface is used to DECLARE the actions you want to do (ie, I want to start a car)
@implementation is used to DEFINE how to do those actions (ie, to start a car, put the key in the ignition, then turn the key)
