  • Just started checking out fire runs online. It's pretty amazing how clueless other drivers seem to be even with all the racket you're making. We didn't get much snow this year. When was this shot?

  • @blackhatfan1 Last year, Jan. 2011 Also, now have a new Pumper (since Oct.2011).

  • That's interesting, but I can believe it (I just live a few blocks from 215).

  • 46fd04 - moved to 215? It's a great part of the city (but quiet for calls).

  • @DeanVernonWormer Quiet yes, but I've had more fires out of that Hall in 3 years, than I had at 134 at Yonge & Eglinton. Low volume of calls, but most are legit.

Not responding to false alarms 24/7 like some Downtown Halls.

  • Why the limited use of the siren? In Ohio, the law requires use of the siren whenever responding with lights.

  • @box15c22

That law may not apply in Toronto.

  • @box15c22 I would imagine that noise bylaws have a little something to do with the limited use. Just a guess tho.

  • @box15c22 In Toronto, we are encourgaed not to use the siren unless absolutely needed.

It is required to exceed the speed limit, and pass thru red lights (after a full stop).

If there is no vehicles for as far as the eye can see, why bother (especially at 3:00am)?

Where I work, more cars stop for us making a left turn when we are NOT on an emergency call, than when we ARE responding. Toronto drivers really need to wake up and do things properly!

  • @box15c22 why go pounding on the horn downtown a 3 am? it doesnt make any sense with that kind of stupid law unless there is a shit load of traffic EVERYWHERE

  • @box15c22 Sorry for the delayed response. In Ontario, the siren is only required if we are exceeding the speed limit, going thru red lights, all major intersections, etc... We try to minimize siren use, especially in the middle of the night. Our old policy in Toronto was siren usage from when we left the Hall until we arrived at the call. Now, our current Chief has used his common sense, and asked that we not use it when it is not necessary.
