I love this video! The clouds are hypnotizing I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen. I love the contrast between the chords at the beginning and the rhythmic sounds throughout
The title is a metaphor. With a camera, if the lens is clouded with finger prints or condensation, the subject can with look worse (a sharp view of the moon) or better (a soft focus portrait) than it actually does. It is also often the case when a person tries to estimate what their future will be like, their hopes and fears can cloud the accuracy of the view, making it look better or worse than it will actually be. This is my future, viewed through my hopes and fears.
I believe it's called the Irene Castle Waltz. I've looked around for the sheet music but haven't found it yet. If you do, please let me know, I'd like to learn how to play it! ;-)
.........So many accept the darkness hoping it will lead them to the sun. Now I just daydream about the simpler days of the brightly lit sky's and hope the sun will shine again some day.
This is great work. I felt the music went with the visuals seamlessly. Awesome work dude.
Dang man. To me this sounds like life as I see it at this point in my life. Seeing life in the beginning as clear lit sky's not a worry in the world with the sky as the limit. Slowly the world reveals itself for what it truly is, with dark clouds high up with shadows covering everything (people and power), and only let you peak at the sun (happiness/peace and truth). They show you the only way to peace is through war (helicopter foreshadowing the sun).....
Great work John, I really enjoyed the whole piece. To me it conjured up thoughts of the aftermath of some traumatic event and acceptance of it when the clip and piano appear. Super job!
Very lovey ending segment, dancers/piano...poignant. and wistful.
You asked what it means to US - I see pain and loneliness or confusion expressed or exercised through beautiful music and images...you are dealing with something, and this gets it OUT.
LOL, you are cheating because you know me too well! ;-) But, as you know, when you immerse yourself in a creative endevor any inspirations that may have been the seed of the idea can get greatly amplified beyond what is realistic . .. sometimes! ;-)
While there are some very personal and real feelings expressed in this peice, I hope people don't think that I regularly stalk people and have twisted "culinary taste" after watching my Monster Man video! mmMMUUHHAHAHAHA! :-)
Excellent job! I must say that I find your title quite appropriate and in line with the reality of this matrix that we find ourselves in. Keep up the creative flow & spirit as it shall be a blessing to many.
Wow. Your audio was really cinematic, made all the more so by the images fitting the sound so well. It kind of reminded me of some of john carpenters composition on his early films like assualt on precinct 13, but your stuffs not so lofi! The sudden intersection of the piano at the end is made all the more spooky by what preceded it, clever stuff! My mind boggles how you make a modular polyphonic.
Thank you so much for the very kind words, Chris! (I love John Carpenter too! ;-)
The polyphony was done with a MOTM-650 MIDI to CV converter in Poly mode and 4 seperate oscillators run through a COTK C1670 to get the 'string' like sound.
Sounds cool. Gives a really nice sound! I wish I had the space and money for all that sort of gear. Just something like an Ms20 would satisfy. One day, one day it shall be mine....
Just consider myself like an ant in the scheme of things. And cannot imagine that I was not somewhere/something else before my conscious life or will not be after that. A truly big mystery.

Nice time lapse. The clouds are my favourite part of flying.

There are music, film and photography as language.
Then, there are clouds. Realtime, slowed, or sped up.
I always hear music and a story being told when I gaze up at clouds.

Yes! I've always been facinated/captivated by clouds . . and other heavenly bodies . .

Btw, nice piano coming out your modular ;-)

Cool thoughts, Martin, thanks for posting that!
And yes, just FYI, the piano sound did not come from my synethesizer and I did not play it! It came with the clip of the dancers. ;-)
