Just got my combs on Ebay. THey are BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL! So well made. I love the way they fit together. There are at least 2 kinds of woods a dark walnut and a lighter. Can't wait to comb some fiber! Thank you Benjamin, and thanks for this video. It might be a good idea to include a link to this when you package the combs.
Hi Benjamin, thank you for the very tranquil demonstration. Great execution. I have been reading much about fibre preparation for spinning. I have been taught how to card and now I would like to try combing. Well done.
Is there a reason why you pull it out into sliver before combing it the second time? Couldn't you just comb a batch twice as much before pulling it into sliver?
Drawing off the first batch of sliver, stacking it together, or Planking it, helps to align the fibers more consistently while leaving behind the majority of noils and debris. This makes the second combing much easier and the resulting sliver much more even and consistent. As soon as you try it you can tell a difference.
