  • this is so pretty

  • Remember when live performances sounded almost like the recorded version? Thanks Auto-tune.

  • she is 44... and still hot as hell

  • William was shagging her.

  • I saw on some other site a forum with a post saying when Hope toured with the J&M Chain, the two Reid bros. + Hope were notorious for getting into arguments on stage. The Boston Globe ran a review reporting a few comments from a riled

Hope. This one to William: "I don't need you to love me, I need you to shut the fuck up!" Or this one from Hope likely directed at a sound man: "If this glockenspiel isn't mic-ed in 5 mins., we're out of here."

    Kind of funny!

  • @Bobjb999 I think she was responding to some loudmouth clod in the audience, or several. You know... "WE LOVE YOU HOPE!",

    "FADE INTO YOU!",

    "ESPERANZA!'"

    "WOOOOOOOO!"

Seems like an apropriate response on her part.

  • @Duxinflite You're right. I've since read another recounting of that Hope moment, & it apparently WAS an audience member, not William, she was telling off when she said "I don't need you to love me, I need you to S.T.F.U.!"

  • @Bobjb999 Aah, a Hope moment. I didn't know there was a name for it.

  • nice :)

  • very beautiful duet ~

  • Pretty good tune but damn the lyrics are insipid.

  • @TruthJust I reluctantly have to agree, not much of a JAMC fan but I love Hope.

  • Sweet old good times... 90's best times ever!

  • My Hope.

  • brilliant

  • who the fuck is she??? I need moore feedback!

  • @noisesionoise The female vocalist is Hope Sandoval formerly with Opal, Mazzy Star, The Warm Inventions and Chemical Brothers. Now she's on her own and touring to promote her new album.

  • i <3 this song so much.

  • sometimes always!

  • Hope I Love U

  • @evad520 one lucky girl indeed...he's gorgeous!

  • @ariellevonglitz

Right. Like *she's* the lucky one lol :)

  • @iamautomaticman it was Willy. i remember a DJ (now deceased) in Toronto questioning him.

  • @iamautomaticman the guy with black really fuzzy hair to hope's left on the guitar.aka my dad no lie i was listening to my dads music when felt like commenting because i know so much .im 11 now

  • I want marshall with the name of Jesus in there...

  • the coolest lovers tiff...

  • ye... right...

  • Whoa Nelly! Easy on those red pills...

  • ohh please... you cant compare BRMC to them!

Jesus and Mary Chain were before their time..

Its like comparing The Velvet Underground to Sonic Youth

  • or The Chameleons to The Comsat Angels...or KajaGooGoo to Slowdive

  • This is peppier than on Letterman but not as intense. I think Hope sounds good here though.

  • beautiful woman frozen in her tracks

  • why frozen?

  • I imagine that some of the brains who comment on here think that she should be doing a jig

  • listen to this song since it came out that time

  • She was dating Jim the lead singer. I think she is more in awe of JAMC

  • She was actually dating William..

  • She should be

  • congratulations you just got down thumbed for the fourth time..haha.

  • such a short song,, excellent though..

  • gonzax is right. Saw them live twice, no emotion at all. Got backstage and hung out with Jim, and that was fun.

  • thanks for posting it . WOW -- blown away

    -a

  • I forgot about this song hope sounds like an angel

  • this song is fantastic but they were always such a crap live band!

  • why do you say that. saw them live for years and it was always great!

  • Judging how good a band is by how old they are pretty much sums out how seriously people will take your opinion.

  • fuck off retard

  • Wow man good comeback.

Hey guys! guess what these comment boxes are for? They're for letting people know what you think. I made a pretty fair statement I think. You guys may disagree with it but that is fine because it is just my oppinion. Why does everyone feel the need to insult the crap out of anyone who feels differently to themselves!

  • I really love this song!

  • are you sure?

  • I really love this song!

  • I really love this song!

  • I really love this song!

  • temazo!!

  • Is it possible to fall in love with someone you've met? Hope is awesome!

  • sweet

  • the reid brothers kick ass

  • I like this back-to-back with with the duet Fairytale of New York by the Pogues.

  • here she seems a bit more comfortable singing live, (compare to other live perfomances) maybe 'cuz her then boyfriend william reid, is playing the guitar right next to her...maybe?

  • oh why oh why does Hope have to be so damn beautiful..

  • i agree!

  • THIS IS AMAZING!!!

Nobody is cooler than The Jesus and Mary Chain

  • I love the way she sings 'oh you're a luckee son ...

    LuckEe sun of a gun'

    very sexy ... great song.

    Thanks for posting - Jimbo

  • i believe this is from mtv's "120 Minutes" oct. 24, 1994

  • ohh man thanks so much!!!

  • in what year was recorded this song and this video?

    Salutti!!

  • Something classic about SOOO many of their songs. Can't tire of them! Just as superb today as they were '87, '92 and so on. Well done Reid bros!

  • I remember wastching this the night it aired. This album "Stoned & Dethroned" is genious.

  • I love Psychocandy as much as the next person. Saw JAMC do half a show at the Danceteria in the mid 80s. But, geniuses? No. But they made great fuzzy, fisher price beach boy VU rock.

  • This is a great song and Hope Sandoval's voice is amazing but nothing will ever live up to Psychocandy and Darklands.

  • I am a huge fan of the J&MC, but this performance looks like it was forced.

  • Yep, this is when they REALLY started to suck. Blech.

  • loved this song back in the early 90's and still love it now!

  • sorry SNL dude.

  • the reason hope actually gives some hint of a smile is standing on her left. how cute

  • pero por qué no hacen el teatrillo?

joder, división escena/público. lo que me faltaba.

  • Hope is the only thing good about this song.

  • you obviously know nothing, especially about the jesus & mary chain, both Jim And William Reid are musical genius, the only jamc album that sucked was munki, and thats because they weren't even collabrating, because the band was about to split up, no band has been as good as they are in so many different genres, much less got on mtv for actually being a good band

  • munki was genius my friend, better listen again....

  • yeah... listen to munki... it is a very good record! listen to it! i like it a lot...

  • up yours!

  • fucking amazing, wow holy shit!

  • great dude!!!
