  • Six table spoons of sugar? That's ok, I'll pass.

  • @gtrefghuk you can adjust the sugar to your taste

  • Ocarina of Time Potion Shop.

  • Nice Zelda Ocarina of Time music there.

  • If I don't try this it means I don't like myself lol

  • If its for the cold then you shouldnt add sugar because sugar makes your immune system weaker!

  • loved this juice too much when I was a child and still do.

  • @alejandromed22 you can't have an unhealthy amount of fruit sugar unless your a diabetic

  • @jacobh849 No, I'm sorry, but 6 tablespoons of sugar is WAY too much, even for a non-diabetic. Ginger and fresh fruit is okay, though. People today have an overdeveloped sweet-tooth from all those oversweetened soft drinks & candy. You really will pay dearly with your health for the sugary modern diet. (After decades of eating too much sugar, my skinny mother has developed type II diabetes. If she had eaten normal, natural foods, she probably wouldn't be on all those diabetic medications now.)

  • I agree, WAY too much sugar. Spiced Ginger Juice Tea to knock out colds, sore throats

2+ inch piece of fresh peeled and thoroughly minced

Note: Once peeled, the amount of ginger should rufly = size of small chickn egg. If too spicy, start with less, and then work up.

1-2+ tsp of the juice from a lemon

    2-3+ cloves

    1-2 cinnamon sticks

    1+ TBS of uncooked honey

Add above to one cup of boiled water and start sipping right away. If you have a sore throat, then gargle with the tea as well.

  • @sutras108 That's basically the same recipe I use, except I use 1 teaspoon of honey, a strip of lemon peel, the juice of 1 lime, plus a bag of decaf Earl Grey tea. I simmer the spices for 10 minutes, then decant and add the juice, tea, and honey. Yum! Ginger tea/juice is also good for joint inflammation.

  • @Ludlow889 But this is 6 tablespoons of sugar for a recipe that seems to wield... about 5-6 cups of juice? Surely its not that bad to have a table spoon of sugar in a drink once in a while? Then again I agree that we are just too used to sweet things nowadays.... Theres no need for the sweet taste in many things, we re just not used to it anymore. (coffee e.g, i love it sweet but tbh if i could get used to it, i could enjoy the real taste of coffee without sugar).

  • @nelumvia That's on top of all the sugar in the pineapple, so we're probably talking at least 30 grams of sugar per serving (with about 20 grams of that being fructose, which is murder on your liver). And that's assuming you limit yourself to one glass of this stuff a day and avoid all the other sugar hidden in most processed foods. It all adds up and has serious health consequences down the road.

  • @Ludlow889 y'all are funny...lol, you're analyzing the sugar in this recipe like she's suggesting that people gulp this stuff all day everyday. Something about Moroccans, for the most part they eat rather healthy and they don't eat a bunch of processed foods/meats, and most everything is organic, or close to it. So if someone drinks this, instead of the sugared OJ/AJ,Soda, and all the other crap we consume here, it might actually be a good trade off, with the 6T sugar...

  • @MrsFery Yeah, if you just sip a small glass of it once or twice a day and no other sweetened drinks, no problem. Still, there's already plenty of fructose in the pineapple, so I wonder why bother throwing in the extra sugar. Yeah, this concoction definitely better than OJ/AJ/soda...but it's still got too much sugar to be drinking in large quantities.

  • @Ludlow889 If you buy a comparable all natural version, you're looking at 30grams of sugar/serving, and usually there are 2 servings/bottle. These facts are for 7servings/8oz ...If you actually try the recipe, you'll find it's just perfect. I love the facts: Serving Size 227 g Calories 103 Total Fat 0.6g1% Cholesterol 0mg0% Sodium 7mg0% Total Carbohydrates 25.5g9% Dietary Fiber 1.9g8% Sugars 17.3g Protein 1.1g Vitamin A 1% Vitamin C 58% Calcium 2% Iron 6% Nutrition Grade B+
  • @Ludlow889 everything in moderation...6T isn't too much for everyone. My uncle lived to be 91years and he enjoyed his life fully and he LOVED sweets, though I ate sugar in moderation, and he died in his sleep...We still don't have enough research to say everyone that eats sugar & obese gets diabetes. A low glycemic diet in general is key, that doesn't mean that everyone should just kill the sugar. Also, your mother can still get off the diabetic medication if she adopts a low glycemic diet

  • @MrsFery Yeah, and there are people who smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day and live to be 96, but it's still not a good idea to smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day. Outliers, you know.

  • @Ludlow889 true, though the likelihood of someone having serious health conditions from 2 packs of cigs/day , is much greater than someone eating 6T sugar/day. Sugar is not the culprit. Greedy people who are used to heavily rich decadent foods are the culprits. Anyhow, you can always reduce the sugar or omit it if you prefer.

  • @MrsFery "Anyhow, you can always reduce the sugar or omit it if you prefer."

Which is what I said in my earlier coment. Americans get way too much sugar in their diet anyway. And it's not rich, decadent foods per se causing the problem. (Foie gras never killed anyone.) It's the refined carbs (especially fructose) and rancid "vegetable" oils that are wrecking their health.

  • by adding that much of sugar the juice is still healthy?

  • @alejandromed22 sugar doesn't cancel the vitamins you take, however I would be more concerned with is the pineapple fresh or canned then I would obsess about 6T of sugar, and since this is a recipe, you could easily alter it to your preference.

  • ah you see it has the least ingredient ginger, add a beetle and call it beetlejuice.

  • looks really good!

  • great fresh juice! Mariem is hot!

  • very very very interesting recipe. I will definitely try it as I was looking to consume a healthy dose of ginger for its obvious health benefits. thank you

  • I suffer with chronic pancreatitis, would the anti- nausea effect stretch to anti-emetic, as the anti emetic drugs prescribed do nothing to help at all.

If not could you recommend a natural anti-emetic?

    Thank you.

  • I love this juice!

The fresh ginger packs a punch and the flavor is just delicious.

I wish I knew about this recipe in the first two months of my pregnancy.

Dear Alia, please keep those recipes coming!

  • my friend who is pregnant is drinking it on a daily basis :-)

she said it's helping her with the morning sickness.

glad you enjoyed it as well!!!

  • I made this over the weekend and will definitely make it again. It was wonderful. Thanks for the recipe!

  • sounds v nice .. will certainly try it ..

ginger always helps me wen I have heat/cold issues.

I think I'll add honey instead of the processed sugar though.

You have some great and fantastic ideas for food and show skill, though in preperation however I IMHO believe you would benifit from researching food processing and why its so bad ...

    but ye , quality recipes.

    peace beats and love

    ~M

  • I wasn't very clear. I didn't mean the food blender when I said " food processing is so bad "

    cheers

  • oh I know what you mean and you are certainly right. I am a huge fan of sweet things and baking so I use a lot of sugar :-(

On the other hand, I am a vegetarian and a big believer/buyer of organic / cage free products.

so I guess this balances :-)

but to answer your questions, I am trying to communicate moroccan recipes as they are, but thinking of it, I could show substitutes in my videos. If you have ideas let me know :-)

    you can email me directly!

    thank you!

  • I used to tell my self that too, ... in my humble opinion it's all or nothing allways stick with the good stuff.

..your food is great, just take time to think what your using , honey instead of sugar works well, spices instead of salt ..like mango powder for instance

there are always many alternatives, I dont mean to sound condescending or anything...just sharing what I've learned

    best regards,

whats your email ?...send me a pm .. I will be happy to share ideas and learn from you .

  • oh and sorry yes I believe that authenticity is best ... would they really have used pure white sugar ? :)

  • your a vegetarian? how come u cook meat in ur videos then? like the chicken drum sticks and tagines? thats kind of ironic....no?

  • well, I am vegetarian it has been 5 years. it may sound contradictory, but my aim is to share Moroccan recipes and make it easy for people living outside of morocco. I do cook the chicken dishes and tajines, and I share them with my friends who do enjoy eating meat. I personally do not but do not have a strong stand about others who do eat meat. Also, I buy mostly cage free, organic animal products, and try to stay away from the mass production of meat with all it's cruel automation.

  • my mom drank this juice when she was pregent with me

  • is that your sister or ? she looks a lot like you. I think I will try this tomorrow. I like ginger and this sounds awesome!

  • sounds fantastic. I have candied ginger that I keep around for upset stomachs. But your drinks sounds even better.
