  • Very calm and respective cop

  • ive watched alot of these videos an this cop is a good guy an not a dick like most of them on these videos ,, But i still dont agree with him , Open carry ppl ,, if other ppl are scared thats there problem

  • I'm a UVU student and will not go onto campus unless I carry, I'm not going to allow myself and those around me to fall to another UVU rapist or school shooting.

  • To be honest I thought the police officer was quite respectful. I realize that while open carry may be one's legal right, the fact of the matter is it's not always the wisest choice. One mustn't the ignore reality that some people are going to be afraid and are going to call police to report there a man (or woman) with a gun. I think open carry is fine depending on your local customs. For me here in Ohio (open carry allowed), I'm gonna wait to get my concealed permit and avoid the headache.

  • @jtrgovich That made good sense!

  • @jtrgovich Not the wisest choice? Why do cops open carry?

  • @jtrgovich That's dumb! If you don't want to open carry, fine. But to do otherwise, is to admit open carry in Ohio is illegal - which in fact it isn't! I live in Ohio, I open carry. It's that simple.

  • I am from Utah myself and it scares me that they even stopped you for this. You cant open carry here as everyone is OVER paranoid even though you are there to help if needed and we need more of you out there. I believe that we need to be able to Open Carry and Conceal Carry without anyone asking any questions as the NON Law abiding citizens will do what they wish without asking permissions or caring what others think... Good Job and Thank you for being one of the few that chooses this option!

  • @jkirbster Thanks for the support.

  • I have to agree with cop. (Which I usually don't). Carry your firearm concealed, so you don't scare the sheep on campus.

  • @b4sshunt3rggI am not a troller but your comment upsets me to the point i need to stand for this man. You are judging this man when you don't know him at all. He is a complete stranger to you, and i both. Judging is a sin and is not right. This young man is exercising his right to carry a firearm on the campus to be a protect himself and be a sheepdog to his fellow classmates and citizens of Utah. I admire him for his effort. And i would remind you he was confronted, not the other way around

  • Did the Cop really say the laws that apply to you are different then those that apply to me??

  • bullshit cop trying to use reverse psychology on you....Good to see people care for their rights.

  • Campus rules do not trump state law. A permit holder can open carry anywhere including on the campus. Fire the cops.

  • In utah it is legal to open carry in any area that isn't considered secure, if you possess a CCP. Schools are specifically NOT secure according to the law.

This has been a contentious issue between the legislature and the schools (mostly the U of U). The state has been sidestepping the issue, and currently the charge for open carrying with a permit is disorderly conduct or a similar non-weapon related charge.

  • i just love how you simply say... 'but i dooont have toooo..." and the cop just cant take that.

  • They are happy for you to carry it concealed because what the mind docent see it docent except because its not us to see it. If every one open carry's a gun it would be the norm and no one would bat a eye lid ..... So Open Carry : )

  • I think civilians should conceal their firearms because the public who are unaware about guns or families that are protective wouldn't know your background and what purpose you're carrying a gun for. It's good to exercise your rights but if people keep doing that, people are going to start complaining and your rights may be taken away as the officer stated. Basicly, think of others too. You may feel safe, but they won't.

  • @Nazugar I'm sorry, but you need to step back and read what you've written. You are basically saying that the constitution is all well and good, but if someone else doesn't like it, we should change our lifestyle to fit their comfort level. I may remind you that, to paraphrasing ben franklin, those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither. I do think of others, I think that by flexing my rights, I help protect theirs, whether they want them or not :)

  • I know how youe feel brother. i just started at a college in GA after leaving ACTIVE duty for the military but in the mean time I'm a reservest. one of the first things I did when I got to this new school was go to the campus police station and asked if i was allowed to carry my weapon, conceled or otherwise, on campus because i was military. I was told i would be arrested.I found a GA state law on GA.gov that allows me to do so and dropped off a copy to them with my 44 Mag holstered on my side.

  • You are lucky you have cool cops there. Here in CT open carry is legal (not in any schools, no carry is) but there is a damn good chance you will go to jail anyway. Yeah it will get tossed out of court and you will get your permit back in a year or so but thats a year without a gun. Thanks to people who do open carry and go through the bull s*it it is getting much better here. You are right but i would not open carry there because the nut job killer would pop you 1st if he knows you have a gun.

  • am from england i i think what is the cop on about the point is what difference dose it make he still has a gun on him lol open carry or not he still has the same gun on him and ppl will acknolege he has a gun conseald or not so leave the guy alone lol

  • same story again makes the cops job easier gun or no gun who wants to deal with lots of people when you can deal with the one and change the one to suit and not deal with the mass.

  • Good for you for knowing your laws but why wouldn't you conceal carry if you have your permit to do so? I think you are either trying to get attention or prove a point by open carrying. Concealed is so much better because if you were in a situation where you had to deploy your weapon and you were open carrying you are going to be the first one attacked since you are a threat .. but if it is concealed you get to surprise the attacker ...

  • @printz4567, who cares what other people think or whether or not they are comfortable, it's a constitutional right.

  • people that open carry have small d*cks. meaning cops, the dude filming, and me, as i open carry. we all have small d*cks.

  • Hey I'm at UVU also. If you're still around this fall we should work with opencarry organizers and see if we can raise some awareness on campus. I'd like to see about doing a fundraiser or something for thearmedcitizen so they can keep their site running. Send me an email and we'll help the hoplophobes get over their ignorance.

  • I think there is points on both sides of the arguments. I think we as a society have been taught to see guns as a bad thing, but I'd love to see average citizens carrying guns... so that we are safer. WW2, after guns were removed... the jews were killed... blacks were killed and white jew/black lovers were killed. Guns protect people.

  • Keep it up brother! Just because these lazy assholes get phone calls that make them actually do work does NOT make it ok for them to try and prevent you from exercising your RIGHTS! If police and government would educate people on the laws and rights that are available to them then people would stop acting like a bunch of mindless zombie sheep! It's a right to carry....

  • Why even debate with these people? The second amendment is clear, you don't need a license to do something that is already completely lawful. Anyone, according to the second amendment of the Constitution, ANYONE, can own and carry a firearm. Debating concealed or open carry is a red herring argument. All so-called laws and statutes against the second amendment are unlawful by default.

  • Thanks for open carrying NickMo... its our right! good ol' UVU... sad that a federal funded school think they are above the law... shame shame

  • what a joke...i would of told the cop to screw off...we are losing so many of our rights...this country is going downhill real fast

  • Well I think the cop is correct in this one... You were open carrying in the campus when you must carry concealed even if you have the concealed carry permit you must carry it concealed in the campus...

  • @blowupuate13 Really??? Cite the law--oh wait you can't because you just made it up, just like this cop. Sorry Blow, I'm a Utah Certified BCI Concealed Firearm Instructor now and you, and this cop, are still wrong. Learn the laws of Utah or don't comment.

  • @MajorNickmo

lmfao, oh wait you made it up! yep fuckin bastards.

  • @blowupuate13 Incorrect. Under Utah law he has the right to open-carry.

  • @blowupuate13 you are totally wrong and obviously dont know the law in Utah

  • @GMELECTRONICS365 He doesn't know the law, and either do you. Your comment would have ended in 2 min if you were me. (I'm a Utah BCI Concealed Firearm Instructor now)

  • @MajorNickmo You being a Utah CCW Instructor does not mean anything. He as a Police Officer has to know the laws his opinion does not matter. The law is the law end of story . My point is you did not have to explain yourself to him in any way its legal to open carry where you where thats it. If he don't like it thats his problem . that is what i was trying to say.

  • @MajorNickmo I don,t know too much about the law surrounding carrying a firearm on campus so I wont comment on that, but wouldn't you want to have it concealed anyway do draw attention away from you? Having it out on your waist is a good way to get it snatched by some jackass. Not only that it can also make some people uncomfortable seeing your not an officer and you have a gun but that's just how I feel on that situation man. Been watching some of these videos because i'm getting my permit soon

  • @printz4567 No one notices it. I open carried for 6 months before the police were called. The majority of Utahans don't care when they see a law abiding citizen carrying a pistol peacefully in a holster. The First Amendment drivel I hear from Obama makes me feel uncomfortable, should I call the police? The Communist Club on my campus makes me feel uncomfortable and yet they get to spew their hatred, should I call the police? Why does the Second Amendment not hold the same weight as the First???

  • Doing that in communist America? you're lucky you weren't shot or tasered or beaten up.

  • what also used to be disturbing and disruptive were african americans in universities. Discrimination.

  • living the 2nd amendment is not "pushing your point"...

  • where were all the Open Carry peeps @ Virginia Tech when they were needed and coulda been useful!!?!?!?!?... sheeeesh.

  • @rj71461h Mmmhmmm.... So he was breaking no laws and your saying he was lucky he wasn't arrested, okay, just making sure. That makes a lot of sense, yeah. Okay

  • i would knock the shit outta that cop

  • like most cops ...this one is dumb is a brick and doesn't like being confronted because his badge has hiddned his ignorance.

  • @cobyson100 How ironical... You claim he is ignorant, but you can't even spell properly.

  • cops want to be the only people to open carry...event thought they arrive AFTER a crime is committed 95% of the time.

  • You are the exact opposite of AK47man. Thank you

  • The cop is half ass right...trying not to get the law taken all the way away cause some dumbass that knows nothing about guns...your just lucky you can carry..your welcome to come to Illinois..Southern too..no where near the city of Chicago..

  • @618Bdown Think through your logic there...if I can't even exercise the law as it is now because cops want to enforce their opinion not the law, then the right doesn't exist to "be taken away".

  • @MajorNickmo thats so true. Its also how they have been de-humanized and police officers turn to think all people are criminals. i would have said charge me with it. An as soon as i was in handcuffs id have shut up with a giant smile. Knowing that i would have that cop arrested for false imprisonment. An if he drove me to the police stations id have gotten him for kidnapping. The joys of being a better lawyer then the DA's office has.

  • @618Bdown ?! wth is the point of a right, if everyone tells you not to exercise it or else you'll get harassed by law enforcement.

  • @diggy2121 You still haven't answered my question. All you did was quote Utah law that says a firearm can't be within 1000 ft of a school. So where is the "read up on it you tool" statute that you say I missed? Where is the law that says I can conceal on campus or even the one that says I can't open carry? Google every TV interview I did, BCI and Department of Public Safety backed me up, every single time. Know the law before you open your mouth. I do, and you haven't found the correct laws yet.

  • @diggy2121 That was step one. You are correct. It is unlawful to carry within 1,000 feet of school grounds. Now find the "Utah Statue" that exempts police from the laws you just quoted which allows them to carry past that 1,000 foot boundary and get back to me. Please post that statute (it's not a big paragraph, and if you can't find it, I have it and would be happy to pass it along)

  • @diggy2121 Oh really? And where is that law exactly. While you're at it, find the law that says the cops can open carry on campus. When you find it, I'll be ready for the retraction of your statement or an apology. (But I won't hold my breath)

  • hes not pushing his point hes standing up for his rights the cop should have just left him alone not aruge with him or tell him how to live his life

  • Cops are so stupid. They dont study the laws that they constantly accuse others of violating. Guess thats what happens when the only requirements for being a cop are the ability to fog a mirror and a high school diploma.

  • only elites can carry guns and have bodyguards, tell you how to leave your life and BOW to us!

    .....please.....

  • so you are supposed to not excersize your rights so you wont lose them...? looks like you have already lost them.

  • @dubbys Exactly. Not the brightest statement from the officer.

  • I commend you sir for not punching that pig in the ovaries. You are a better men than I.

  • @C00Ltuber Thanks.

  • @pyrokylehatch Why don't cops conceal their guns if that's such a brilliant idea...oh wait, it's to deter crime and have quick access. Not to mention, it's a lot more comfortable. Why don't you put on your seatbelt right before you get into a car wreck, oh wait, b/c you don't know when that could happen and you probably won't have enough time to react.

  • @pyrokylehatch "HW" b/c I ran out of remaining characters.

I've taken more firearms training and shoot more often than most cops, so now what? You really have a lot of faith in cops, however I know that I am the only one responsible for my own safety. If guns kill people, then spoons made Rosie O'Donnel fat. If you can't handle the responsibility of owning a firearm without using it for evil means, then don't belittle those who can handle it and wish to use it only for stopping evil.

  • @MajorNickmo true

  • @pyrokylehatch 76-10-523. Persons exempt from weapons laws. (1) This part and Title 53, Chapter 5, Part 7, Concealed Weapon Act, do not apply to any of the following: (a) a United States marshal; (b) a federal official required to carry a firearm; (c) a peace officer of this or any other jurisdiction; (d) a law enforcement official as defined and qualified under Section 53-5-711;

  • @pyrokylehatch 53-5a-102. Uniform firearm laws. (6)(b) "local authority or state entity" includes public school districts, public schools, and state institutions of higher education.

Learn Utah Laws. Then get back to me. I know them inside and out. The very same law that give cops the right to carry a gun within a 1,000 ft. of UVU also gives me, as a CFP holder the right to carry at UVU. Its all in the same paragraph. Here let me show ya:

  • @pyrokylehatch The reason I wasn't "punished": "All authority to regulate firearms shall be reserved to the state except where the Legislature specifically delegates responsibility to local authorities or state entities. Unless specifically authorized .by the Legislature by statute, a local authority or state entity may not enact or enforce any ordinance, regulation, or rule pertaining to firearms."

  • Pyro you are WRONG!!

If people know guns are on campus legally and OPENLY there won't be a shooting. Why give the illusion of a victim when it's better to stop crime before it starts nor after.

  • But your back to pushing to your point!! lol

  • I agree in various degrees on both sides. However, why would you paint a target on your head? If a gunman came in and saw an individual with a gun and someone without, who do you think is going to be shot first? It's good to exercise our freedoms, but use logic and reason when it comes to protecting your life and the lives of others.

  • @mp525 "paint a target" give me one instance, even ONE where this has happened. I can provide you with dozens of stories where open carrying has stopped and even deterred crimes from occurring while you cannot provide one to the contrary.

If your logic holds true, then all cops have a painted target on them. Take the uniform off and they still have a target??? nope, bad guys pick sheep not the shepherd.

  • @MajorNickmo Your logic is flawed.

  • I love his logic.

If you keep doing this legal activity, they will change the law and make it illegal.

That's very true...but if no one exercises the ability to do something, WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF IT'S MADE ILLEGAL?

  • i would say ok lets go to the judge

  • Did he know he was being recorded?

  • In michigan you can carry on school property BUT you HAVE too open carry and have too have a CCL but if you dont have a CCL you can not have a weapon on school grounds at all

  • Maybe the cops should conceal carry so we feel safer

  • @spongah best comment ever

  • @MajorNickmo How so? We should feel safe that law enforcement open carry a weapon. If someone was to pull a gun, whether to shoot a civilian or a cop, the cop has to know a gun was pulled, then has to clear whatever is in his/her way of their weapon BEFORE they can un-holster the firearm and then manage the situation. Take into consideration, before the cop has even reacted, someone could be killed. the sooner law enforcement can get to their weapon, a number of lives could be saved.

  • Being able to carry firearms in a school is a good thing, concealed or not. But you will always have those people who are nervous around guns, and they will likely call people in who carry. So, if you have a concealed permit, why not just conceal it? Save a headache for yourself and others. If something does happen involving school shootings, even though having guns around will make it less likely to happen, wouldn't that just make you one of the first targets? Maybe not, but just a thought.

  • I thought there was a Federal Law that folks could not carry firearms near schools...isn't he just enforcing Federal law?

  • This dumb cop should be writing traffic tickets

  • This police officer is absolutely right. He is for this fellow's right to carry a gun. However, why "push the point"? There is no need to open carry on a university campus. With all respect, it is a trivial expression of what I consider almost a sacred right. We all know we have the right to bare arms. There's no need to show it off. It's like a body builder wearing a t-shirt one size too small. And, push the point too far, scare enough people and you'll get our rights outlawed.

  • @eatitl8r It doesn't matter what his opinion is. He is not an opinion enforcement officer, he is a law enforcement officer. If he has a problem with the law, then take it up with the state legislators...(good luck--Utah has an F rating from the Brady anti-gunners :-) But don't take my tax dollars and enforce anything but the law. It was unlawful for them to require me to conceal my gun. Period. The law is behind me. These cops were WRONG.

  • Quit being a dumbass. Just because the law states you can open carry on a college campus doesn't mean its a good idea. I'm a concealed permit owner and conceal on a regular basis. Grow up and stop being such a prick

  • @njh8811 You don't think they'll be after your permit next??? "The right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED"

  • @njh8811 Agreed!

  • I got my college to allow students to carry! If you don't use your rights you will lose them.

  • The police officer was not in the wrong.

Look at uvu website on the police page under the clery act.

It clearly states that you can't open carry on campus. I am all for carrying but you do need to follow the rules for the places you go.

  • @Sweet3050 The officer was absolutely in the wrong. "All authority to regulate firearms shall be reserved to the state except where the Legislature specifically delegates responsibility to local authorities or state entities. Unless specifically authorized by the Legislature by statute, a local authority or state entity may not enact or enforce any ordinance, regulation, or rule pertaining to firearms.

  • @Sweet3050 53-5a-102. Uniform firearm laws. (6)(b) "local authority or state entity" includes public school districts, public schools, and state institutions of higher education.

THE SCHOOL IS NOT ALLOWED TO REGULATE FIREARMS, AT ALL. That's why this cop was wrong. He even admits it in part 2 of the video.

They can post all the "policies" online that they want, but they have absolutely NO JURISDICTION. (I love Utah state laws)

  • idiot Just say your exercising your rights to open carry. You dont need to have a debate.

  • It makes sense that open carry scares cops. If you were a cop you would be uneasy as well. They rather have it concealed to have a peace of mind even if you still have the gun.

  • @fake1009 Doesn't matter about the cops "feelings" the law is the the law, and these guys wanted to be opinion enforcement officers instead of law enforcement.

  • i have friends that are cops they think they should be the only one's with a gun. karate will not save you from a thug with a gun.my moms dog was poisoned and two days later her window next to the front door was shot out with a bb gun she called police to make a report they never showed up i told her buy a gun home invasions are the big thing rite know she says "no dont need one"

  • "Who will govern the governors? There is only one force in the nation that can be depended upon to keep the government pure and the governors honest, and that is the people themselves. They alone, if well informed, are capable of preventing the corruption of power, and of restoring the nation to its rightful course if it should go astray. They alone are the safest depository of the ultimate powers of government"

    - Thomas Jefferson

  • The cops need to educate the people who call the cops on Open carry.Right when they call and complain that someone is carring a gun on there hip the cop should tell them that it is open carry and it is not against the law.

  • "I'm not trying to take away your rights" ... the hell you're not, dipshit.

  • That is the first comment that I agree with, "What a GREAT Victim HE was". Amen... It must be really tough being such a pussy in this big bad world with your low self esteem. You are not that important that someone wants to harm you so bad. No one is worrying about you being victimized, sodomized, or bludgeoned. Society is worried about a person with mental issues thinking he is Clint Eastwood saving himself from inner demons and indirectly shoot innocent civilians. Seek help.

  • That is exactly what I thought... You are scared... Jesus didn't instruct everyone to come to arms (sword), nemrod, he implied to arm yourself with the word of the lord the holy spirit not a sword. He had to die on the cross for idiots like you who do not know any better. Blasphemous ignoramous. Nice scripture though. I really don't think you could use your gun anyway. Gutless wonder. No balls, just non constructive rhetorich. Testostorone comes from within, not from a piece of steel.

  • Citizens are not armed, weirdo, cowards and people with low self esteem arm themselves. Jesus Christ never carried a weapon and he was the greatest human that ever existed. All great leaders do not need arms they need common sense. You seem to have none. Arm yourself and you will be the"Victim". Fooling around with the police who by the way have formal psychological and physical training are the people I trust with weapons, not some kook with an agenda and itchy trigger finger. Coward....

  • @isl1968 One know even if Jesus was not armed he want his people to be, Luke 22:36 "Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." Now in today's time that would mean A FIREARM... Please do not make yourself look like a fool, Jesus was a fool, if he would have carried a Sword, he won't have been hung on a CROSS, he may have died with honor and gone down fighting.

  • @isl1968 OH Ps. Jesus was unarmed and what a great VICTIM he turned out to be... Humm....

  • Get a law degree... Drop the gun... Quit being an idiot. If you want to defend yourself take a self defense course. The cop is right keep it up and the law will change. Keep it up and someone will take your gun and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. You've got too much time on your hands, get a job and lose the attitude before you get your teeth kicked and robbed of your precious guns. Quit being a pussy and go to class and learn how to be a good person and God will take care of you.

  • @isl1968 Citizens are armed, slaves are not. Self-defense classes???

I've taken plenty, with my 9mm and my .45, thanks for the tip though.

If you aren't responsible for your own protection then keep on living

in your naive little world where cops will save you. Cops arrive after

the crime is committed not before or during. I have not only the

right, but also the obligation to protect myself and my family from

evil, one open carried pistol at a time.

  • @isl1968 the laws HAVE been changing, FOR open carry. Cali has some of the worst laws in the nation and OC was just upheld

  • I didn't read all comments, but did anyone brought this up?

Assume somebody complains about the face off somebody, would these cops be arguing: It is not required by law to cover your face and it is your right to walk around without it, BUT we got complains! And as we see right now you look ugly as hell. So please cover your face or you get jail time.

  • Comment removed

  • @cinspor ok asshole, if you are going to post something about the issue, please make sure that it makes sense. Also make sure that it is relevant to the overlying issue. Lastly, try to use grammer better than that of the 3rd grader, so if anyone really cares what you say they can at least understand it.

  • That cop is an idiot. He was giving me a hard time because I was parked "not on a parking stall" waiting to pick someone up and wanted me to park in a parking stall. Meanwhile his car is parked on the sidewalk. He thinks he is above the law. He needs a real job in LA where they actually do things other than write speeding tickets and kick people put of hot-tubs.

  • Great video. I love Utah.

  • How much is a plane ticket to utah? lol.

  • lol exercising your constitutional rights is disorderly conduct !!

  • The Officer is wright! This punk is going to give the Liberals more ammo to take our 2nd amendment away from us. He thinks he is some kind of bad ass carrying open. If he really wants to a shepherd in the community, he would carry concealed. Carrying concealed gives you a edge over the bad guys. Carrying open makes you a target.

  • @careydude How is he giving liberals more ammo? He open carried for over a year on campus and nothing happened, I'd say he proved that you can lawfully, easily, reasonably, and safely open carry on campus (or anywhere, for that matter). If you aren't allowed to exercise your rights, then you don't actually have them.

  • I'm so ashamed that I attend UVU. They will never get any money from me as an alum or booster because the University decides to let liberal hippie douches interpret and bend the law to their own whims.

  • MajorNickmo, thanks for posting this. It really is sad... "You will abide by my ignorance of the law or you will pay". I don't know what was really motivating the cop... didn't want to be bothered to explain to the 911 caller that what you were doing was completely legal? Got all bothered by someone that didn't immediately and completely bend over and had to save face? Whatever the cause, it's pretty clear that education is lacking.

  • the cop is right

  • @pinhead1304: Could you explain why?

  • this man needs to find another phrase expect your back to pushing the point... all this officer needed to do was walk up to you check your permit see that you were good to go then send you on your way not give you his version of the law, borderline harassment. you were well within your rights like you stated many times in the video. awesome how you know your laws and the statutes that apply to you so props to you man. rock on and keep carrying hopefully this got straightened out for you.

  • Right on brother........ school that cop. I have done the same thing and I alway won.

  • You handled yourself well. I hope that I can keep my cool as well as you if encountered by LEO while OCing. I wish more people would educate themselves on gun laws.

Possession of a firearm is NOT enough to charge someone with disorderly conduct.

  • Law enforcer not law maker so cop STFU!

  • I say concealed carry.. all the way.. The best element when carrying a firearm for personal protection is having the element of surprise.. I believe the officer is on the right track. The officer was very respectful and is right if you ask me.. I carried openly for like 2 years.. and I found that it was very uncomfortable feeling most of the time.. people staring and afraid of what your gonna do.. So ever since then i've carried concealed. I have the best advantage in a self defense situation.

  • @Mandrix37911: In some situations, you're right. After all, in an "active shooter" situation (Columbine, VT, Trolley Square, etc) the best strategy for the attacker is to first take out the guy that can fight back. However, such situations are so uncommon as to be statistically negligible. Far more common is the situation of an attacker that is looking for weak prey. That's not the open carrier. Combined with quicker access, OC is a very reasonable strategy. That said, I've never OC'd.

  • Hey man, I heard your story on Gun Dudes podcast. I get disgusted when the people who are charged with upholding the law try to make it up as they go. It isn't their job to interpret the law. I live in Pa where we also are allowed to carry on a college campus. The law says that we are not allowed to carry in a primary or secondary school. It says nothing about colleges or universities. I am thankful that there are people like you who are willing to exercise the rights we still have left.

  • It's allowed in Oregon as well. I do!

  • this cop says " whats the people gonna think" ? it does not matter what the people are going to think the law is the law and you had every right to have your firearm !~!! this cop is on an ego trip or just plain stupid !!!!

  • this cop is ridiculous and is making a total fool out of himself by not knowing the law of the land nor upholding it .. he needs to up hold the law and not suddenly be a law unto himself .. he is breaking the law by not up holding the law ! BAD COP!!

  • cops need to LEARN and respect the laws of the land !!!

  • This was amazingly entertaining and enlightening thank you very much!!

  • wow fuck that cop

  • these laws only protect you on the street and on your property...once you enter an establishment...things change...while you may have the right to carry on the university...they can choose to not allow you to do so on their premises...it's like having a huge house party with tons of people you don't know that open carry... if a couple ppl you know say, "hey i don't like him here open carrying" you have the right to kick him out of your house...same with them..simple as that...

  • nick let see you are in a university now i am assuming that betwwen kindergarten and now you have taken an english class now this is real simple in what i am asking, what does the word CONCEALED mean? Why you get out your dictionary and look up that i have another question. If you want to open carry why did you get a concealed weapons permit? you dont need one to open carry as long as it is two actions away from being fired. so take your time think about it im looking forward to your response

  • The cop is trying to lay down some common sense. He doesn't seem against guns, he is responding to a call from some anti-gunner. Just be glad you can have it, the soccer moms run my state, IL, i cant carry at all let alone to school. I support open carry, and concealed, but i think we should make the choice to carry concealed when in crowded places, given that so many people are scared by guns, and may contact their legislators, trying to take away your rights. Come to IL and see what thats like

  • "The school has the right to make sure everyone 'feels' safe"

What the hell does that even mean?

  • I know someone who called emergency services for an imminent death threat and he had to wait two hours for help. This was in California. He was unarmed.

  • The cop makes a very valid point at 3.05 Just look up the recent CA AB1934. Now OC (unloaded) is ruined for everyone in CA just cause some wanted to prove a point.

  • @fredieusa No, it is ruined for everyone in California because your state is full of communists...

  • @fredieusa The cop makes a point of getting his way anyway he can and thats all hes trying to do here.Keep standing up for your rights and do not back down like you see on some of these comments.People like you love to get walked on but not me.

    Carry on.

  • What's really fucking funny is these same

gun scared peeps are probably eating food

and taking perscription meds that are doing

them way more harm than this young man that is obviously not a threat and exercising

    his states rights!

    Jman

  • thanks for holding your ground.

  • Good on you, sir! You stood your ground with honor. Faced with the choice, as presented by the "experts" on the law, you chose to live to fight another day. Excellent!

  • Hey, I just listened to you on the gun dudes. Keep up the good work and thanks for educating these misinformed cops.

  • I hate police officers who abuse their power. The Massachusetts Police chiefs are trying to keep us from even concealing on non-gov property -by choosing not to give you a "full" license. But I guess they're better than the legislators who created that egregious loophole.

  • Talhajus, what are you talking about this guy giving the cops a hard time? The cops are using their badges to enforce their opinions.

The cops never would have stopped him if there were more people who open carried. Someone has to break the ice so that open carrying isn't so strange to see a gun. What's the point of passing a law which allows us to open carry on campus if everyone is too scared to do it? Use your head Talhajus and drop the emtional reaction, IT MAKES SENSE MAN!!!

  • @mst37 Thanks

  • attention whore. CCW means just that. He won his 'legal' point and then proceeded to show his ass by giving the cops a hard time. very ungentlemanly. Cover that shit up, dont argue with a reasonable cop, dont go wasting cops time so he could get his youtube video.

Utah reciprocates with too many other states now for jokers like him to be stunting for new Utah CCW laws. Dont ruin it for the rest of us, clown!

  • the guns scare people?!??! TOUGH SHIT! WE DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING FOR THE SAKE OF LACK OF KNOWLEDGE!!!!!

  • look how smart I am, I'm a cop I must know everything!

The implied threat of of charges for simply following the law is beyond sickening. "you have a choice" he says. Yeah, guess what bud. You do too. it's called enforce the law, not jack with some guy who obviously makes great effort to follow it. "it's up to the school to make sure people feel safe" - yeah, well I can't convince the sheep of the world, only pray to god I can protect them if necessary

  • Im an active 2nd Amendment supporter and gun enthusiast and I have to say bro that this was a very, very bad idea- yes you absolutely have a right to carry in the manner that you did, but unfortunately it wasn't thought at too well. You should know that this could cause concern within the world we live in today and that it has the potential to cause concern among those that are not familiar with firearms. Way to make every gun owner look nutty. Thanks for the bad rap.

  • @cordovamx yep, and a black man shouldn't walk around in public at night either because he knows it may scare some people and cause concern? Rubbish. This cop is also trying to tell this man that since he is abiding by the law, others will notice and then try to overturn that law. That is an idiotic arguement as well. What's the point of even having the law if we are then giong to be intimidated into not voluntarily abiding by it?

  • I also conceal it for two reasons, I don't want problems like this guy had with ill-informed police officers and I don't want people know I'm carrying if they were going to do something i'm sure they wouldn't around me and if they did I would be target number 1.

  • concealed carry is legal if you have a permit (which any citizen with a clean record can get). The definition of open carry is not defined in the law but the law does not directly disprove open carry at all. I have a concealed carry permit and carry every single day.

  • It totally upsets me that because someone complained, a law abiding citizen is subjected to harrassment and threats that are not based on law. This is considering someone guilty, assuming someone is a criminal and a deviant, when it could be the caller who has the issues. This was not warranted, the fellow did no wrong. The caller was a hysteric.

  • When there are good citizens carrying a pistol, the bad guys think twiceto do harm towards the populace. If you think the police protect you, UH OH.

When seconds count, Police are 40min away!

Guns are an equalizer; a 25yo felon isn't at that huge of an advantage against a 70yo grandmother, IF she also has a pistol.

I used to be against guns in public, but that is a crazy stance to have (I see that now). If anyone "could" have a gun, it's no longer open season on the general population.

  • how is there a problem

if the officer is unhappy with the way the law is written, how ought to write to his state legislature about it.

  • The Policeman doesn't know the law.
