  • looks like the perfect hard use edc!

  • Great review from glesser himself, thumbs up. For a collectible, would you recommend the paramillitary, police, or the military?? Thanks

  • @sleek555 I'd recommend getting a sprint run of any of those models, if you're looking for a collectible. An S90V Para 2 would be a good start

  • I think I only need two knives, one for carry one for back up. The rest are like candy in the store but you do not really need them. I also like fixed blade better since folder knives are all about handles and lock that is where your money goes to, but not to an actual blade itself.....

  • These upgrades all make sense, which is rare for an "upgraded version". I love my Para, Ill have to put in a pre-order on a Para 2.

  • @glockfire I can recommend the Para 2, I just got the sprint run S90V Para 2 yesterday. The Para 2 fixes all of the 'problems' I had with my first spydie, the military: it's slightly smaller, better lock, 4-way clip.

  • god the background sounds suck. and the speaker is munching/smacking. very awful, this beautiful knife deserves better.

  • @1987jkilla True, the background sound sucks. However, I'm glad I got the quality I got, considering the background (a very large and busy tradeshow with a huge crowd of people walking and talking) and my equipment (a compact consumer grade camcorder). Thanks for watching. Do you have a Para 2? I'd love to see your videoreview.

  • @Spydercollector yea i dont even have a camcorder so i am happy about anything i find about my interests :) i dont have a para2. i have a police, a kumo and soon 2 tenacious. maybe i gonna get the military or the police3 with g10. need to save some money... knives are a pretty expensive hobby :)

i could make a review on the kumo as soon as i have a cam.

  • an ORANGE handle would be awesome on this knife.

  • Great. I'll get one when it comes out.

  • Can't wait till they release this sweet baby. Oh yes, it shall be mine...

  • i know the chances of a liner lock paramilitary ever being released are nil :(

but if they did, i would buy one. lol

  • I'll wait and hope a S90V variant will come out with carbon fiber scales.

  • Spyderco is one of the best cutlery company ever. In my opinion, they are the best.

  • They announced in the Spyderco forums that it has a tentative release date of July/August. It's going to be plain edge only for now.

  • Is Spyderco keeping you informed? Excellent video.

  • I hope these come out really soon

  • do you know if it will be offered in the black finish like the original para in the video?

  • @DarkheartTheHeritic I don't know, the first model released will feature a satin blade

  • When?

  • @sleggarri No release date yet.

  • @Spydercollector Damn It!!! I want one!

  • Oh, for God sake, where is it!! The Para is one of my favorite knives and I'd buy the one on the screen in a second. It looks perfect!

  • I can't wait till this knife comes out. I love my para but this thing is going to be PERFECT! Hopefully well see some exotic steels and handle colors!!!

  • Arrrrgh!!! I'm going crazy waiting for this thing.......

  • Does it come in camo?

  • @ValenSabreAngel It doesn't come in anything, as it hasn't come out yet. It seesm likelly that they will introduce it first in black g10 and when those production models prove successfull, I'm sure we'll see more G10 colors.

  • Any word if the made the compression lock out of material wise?

  • @nls8520 I'm not sure, I'm guesstimating it's made from stainless steel since IIRC current Spyderco linerlocks and compression locks were made from a type of steel (not ti).

  • anyone know how much this knife might cost?

  • @Eadwine17 No, not yet. It's still just a production prototype, no official info about delivery or pricing is available yet.

  • @Spydercollector Damn, I am to anxious to wait...might end up getting a stretch 2 or a manix 2.

  • This is a serious winner. They have addressed every single complaint I had about my Para military. Every single thing. This is perfection.

  • this is so thoughtful it could convince me to buy a knife I dont need, just because of the iterative smartness I just witnessed

  • any information about the release date on this knife?

  • @SuperBeetOven No it's still not known when it will be released.

  • Wow! I cannot wait for this knife to come out!!

  • Do you know if they'll be giving those G10 handles more traction than the one on display? Those scales looks a little too slick to me.

  • @omfg191 I don't know, this was just the prototype.

  • that lanyard hole is huge

  • wow, this fixes everything i dont like about the original!

  • new one looks too girly. too refined. ill stick with my digi camo black blade....AND my awesome STR lowrider clip....why the hell spyderco doesnt put a low rider clip on it in the first place i have no idea.....

  • Are the size specs known?

  • @oldschoolBG No, not yet.

  • When are the new Para's going to be available? Is there going to be a all black model?

  • @sidnalkid I don't know the answer, on both questions.

  • the new one looks kinda werid...i am sticking with the old one.

  • I love everything I've seen about this knife so far. I think we have a real winner here.

  • so is it still going to be manufactured in golden? And with s30v?

  • @spydiscythe Yes.

  • Does the compression lock function the same way without that corner on the tang?

  • @brottarnacke Yes it does, there may be some technical differences, but I didn't notice anything different.

  • Is the older model of the Para Military going to be available after the Para 2 comes out?

  • @lazadar I'm not sure, I'd say not, judging from previous evoliutions of models. The Delica 3 was discontinued when the Delica 4 came out etc...

  • Ok I count myself lucky for having the D2 Para Military. Great knife.

  • Wow! Now that is just a great looking knife!

  • Love the new knife, looks like a great improvement over the original.

  • i wish the jimping on the spine would stick out a little more, or at least the jimping be on the g10, too. that would work better i think.

  • i like this. looks more comfortable for my hands.

  • nice improvement.

  • Agreed Krepo11, I didnt like the exposed tang at first but it has really grown on me. Different from every other folder and sorta gives it character. Also wish they kept the more compact size of the original. All in all though it still looks like another must have Spydie.

  • @benlg I agree with you here on the size. Even though it doesn't bother me much I do wish they kept it more compact. if I wanted a larger knife of this sort then I would buy the Military. But hey, they can't please everyone and I am a huge fan of Spyderco.

Keep up the above par work Sal!!

  • I am in awe. Spyderco continues to roll out the hits. All the changes seen here are improvements in my opinion.

Small criticism: If you are carrying left hand and tip down then the clip will be in the way of the pivot screw. Not a huge deal, but a slight inconvenience.

Spyderco, pretty please with sugar on top make this blade in a sprint run of CF and S90V and/or S110V.

  • Terrible back ground noise. i can barely hear you at times. Other than that I really appreciate the review. Good job giving comparison detail and a favorite knife of mine.

  • Sorry about that, I absolutely did not have a professional set-up to get decent sound on the show floor. I did try to clean it up digitally. Trust me, the raw footage was worse.

  • (cont.) about using it. The blue G-10 they used on the Manix's was handsome though, and peel-ply CF is always a nice touch. I usually like my EDC blades a little cheaper, but I've always wanted a Golden Colorado Spydie. You don't hear any other production knife being compared to Sebenzas as much as the Military/Para series. Only thing I'm wondering is, would I prefer a caged ball lock? I'm sure the compression lock is plenty strong, but how about ease of opening/closing one-handed?

  • I've been waiting on this one from Spyderco. I think this very well may be "the" knife for me. I'm sure I'll always buy others, but for an EDC blade this one's gonna be hard to beat. With all the FFG options they've been putting out lately, I'm been tempted to get something a little more affordable, and perhaps more "colorful." I do like black though, and I'm not a huge fan of the "pastel" hues FRN often comes in. I also want something that's not part of a sprint run, so I don't feel bad

  • Man that looks nice , i will get one or two when they are released.

The only thing that bugs me is the unused clip holes, i would be more than happy with the para1 cilp position on my para2.

    Damn cool knife tho.

  • Lot of great improvements there, the closed profile looks really comfortable in the pocket, im not that fond of deep pocket clips but with the placement of the lanyard on this one makes it a none issue for me. Cant wait for one!!

  • I really liked the looks of the original Para with the bumpy handle and exposed tang when closed, the new one looks too "simple" but I gotta agree that all the changes follow functionality and are great improvements.

  • Cant wait for this !!!!!!!

  • WOW

  • I'm impressed with how much thought Spyderco is putting into this knife. I've never been all that interested in the bigger knives, but this one may be too good to pass up.

  • I'm a fan of this blade shape. I find that it can cut very nicely.

  • Absolutely amazing. Stepping it up BIG time. I see they also have a less steep thumb ramp, leaning more towards that of the Sage. Can't wait to own this one.

  • I cannot wait for this. I think its going to be the all-time Spyderco heavyweight champ

  • Why aren't they able to make the clip completely lowriding?

Like maybe use a wire clip..

  • @JohnWayneColt45 They could, but a lot of people like something to hold onto when they draw their folder. Deep carry clips are nice, but one a hard use working knife, they can be a pain to draw.

  • Very true,,thats an excellent point.

    Thanks for clarifying.
