Absolutely. I'm a certified Apple Consultant, and my company has installed Parallels many, many times with great success. It runs beautifully. If Parallels is not working for you, you should call a pro for assistance. There's nothing wrong with this software. In fact, it almost makes Windows bearable for me.

I have been using linux with WINE (WINDOWS EMULATION) it runs better than the reel one lol I used to 3D modeling on Blender it never crashed, I try my work on the reel windows is frozed up right away and app switch off itself... I have recently switched to Apple and I am not looking back, as everyone else says. The only reason I would invest in Parallels would be to run my MsOffice applications, for which I had already invested in the past. To buy the full version of Windows XP + Parallels option is cheaper than buying the Office for Mac package. Macs rule otherwise and that is the end of the story.

This isn't the fault of Boot Camp or Parallels. CrossOver allows one to run Windows apps on the Mac w/o using Windows. That would possibly minimize/eliminate any potential Windows virus/exploit susceptability...

So whenever I use Windows on a Mac, weather it's through parallels or with bootcamp, my computer will be as vulnerable to viruses and hackers as if I was running windows on a PC?

I mean, if Windows accesses the internet directly then I can see how there could be problems since it would bypass any protection offered by OS X.

If I run Windows in any way on a Mac should I install a Windows firewall? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm still learning about these things.

yes u definetly should get it for the windows side cuz u can get viruses on the windows part but not on the mac side unless u share a folder and are really clumsy with it....its essentially a sandbox which is quarantined but CAN get ifected if the user is dumb
