The U.S. Constitution even says that, "treaties are the supreme law of the land", so Americans weren't even following their own constitution! We only annexed Texas after they were already trying to gain independence. Texas started out trying to become it's own country. There were so many different people there, but mostly Americans.

Santa Ana himself cause the war of 1846-1848 but not letting the mexican government and congress that Texas recieved its independence in 1835. that american troops put a gun over his head in order for him to sign the treaty to recognize Texas as an independent nation and other stories that say Santa Ana signed peacefully we all have different view on it. Nope, it's mostly fiction. The land was bought from the "Native" Americans when there were signs and evidence of ownership. Plus, the deals made were quite lucrative for many tribes in Pennsylvania, New York, etc. The pre-Colombians were constantly at war with each other and fighting over property.
The Mexican-Empire claimed California because the Spanish empire stole it from other people who had probably stolen it at one point.

@murderzaurus you are wrong, because Spain never conquered mexicans, when spanish came to (nowdays) Mexico, there wasn't any mexican, there were a lot of civilizations like Aztecas, Mayas, Olmecas etc... but not mexicans. Mexicans and MEXICO it's the mixture of two worlds, the europe (spanish) and the native americans (Aztecas). Mexicans came from these two cultures, we never were conquered & we never conquer to someone.
