It is Russian. It's the Cyrillic script -- a rather ornate version of it -- which is used for a number of Slavonic languages, e.g. Russian, Ukrainian and Serbian. The text appears to be a prayer or a hymn. I see the words for "God", "Lord" and "Mary" and "thanks", but it would take some time to work out a translation!
I'm guessing you got your answer from petra, but since I asked my friend from Greece what she might know... here's her reply:
Ironically I know what it is.
It's a common icon in the Orthodox faith, it's the angel telling the Virgin Mary she will concieve a son.
The words are not in Greek though, it doesn't look like it's Russian either, it resembles an eastern block language. Basically what ever the message reads, it can only be perceived as good; it's probably a prayer.
I'm guessing its Orthodox either Greek or Russian, but let me ask my Father... I'll get back when I come out of the Cascade Mountains... Pappy said it...
That was really interesting, I enjoyed reading the progress of replies too :)

Thanks for dropping by, Deb. There are some very efficient detectives among the community :)
This card still fascinates me now : I don't know under what circumstances it was lost, and who it belonged to... *sigh*

Well I was about to say it's Cyrillic writing, and I see that others had it all figured out :-)
If I had to guess, I would say it's either in Russian or Ukrainian, also the card design fits in style so...
good to see you again

Okay, I got it - it's the Hail Mary in Russian.

Thanks very much for taking the time to have a look at this.
When I found the card, I wasn't sure whether it was Mary and angel Gabriel on the picture,. Glad that you confirmed this.
According to Samster13 (see below) and Petra16, this appears to be the prayer "Hail Mary".
Thanks for your contribution :)

It looks like Greek.
Is there a Greek culture or neighborhood in your area??
When you find out let us know please.

That's what I thought at first... (judging from the image and the alphabet used)
I asked a greek-speaking youtuber - who confirmed that it isn't Greek.
BTW, I live near a port where foreign boats (military or goods-transport boats) stop. Maybe that's the reason why I found this.
I'll post a video with the answer to the enigma very soon...

Looks like Greek to me, so won't be able to tell you what it says ;P Good luck finding out!
