  • yo dude i want to speed up my processor what can i do (a friend of mine said that i can speed up my processor when you start youre pc and press delete but i didnt find that shit so can you help me ?

  • u talk too much

  • I did not get that much difference from 1-12..

  • my computer is fast as hell takes about 15 seconds startup mby even less

  • Minimize the programs running using msconfig,if you have a extra hard drive you can slave it to your C: drive and move you page file to that drive, that should speed it up a bit, also consider buying SSD's they are starting to get a little cheaper not much cheaper but a little still.

  • get a hd cam

  • i like it

  • Ya Windows does take a long time to load!

  • If you know what U're doing right click computer --> manage --> Services and stop whose you don't need.

PS: don't touch anything if you're not sure what it is and what it does :)

  • I have 0.5 cores

  • Too lazy to read through all the comments. Does this count for a Dual Core i5 with Hyper Threading? Can I select 4 cores or do I have to use 2 cores because only two are physical?

    Thanks

  • @xmmmmmmikex well select 4 its better , personally i select 8 for my quad core i7 with hyper threading , the idea is no letting any resource go down the drain by windows slacking.

  • how do u actually get blue screen of death... my brother has it on his comp somtimes

  • @soopahnintendo You get a B.S.O.D. from a number of different types of problems. One is a hardware problem such as a broken component or even a loose cable or wire. Another is from a software problem such as a improperly running program, game, or driver you just installed. And another way is from improperly set BIOS configurations.

  • @soopahnintendo BCOF screen come due to currpoted ram or windows

  • Chris, I love you and you're my bro and all, but please do not give out advice for windows. You sit in front of Macs. That proves how much you actually work with a system.

Stick to the cross platform, dude.

  • complete placebo for me

  • quad fx?

  • FAIL, how can you call yourself a tech person and recommend this, that option is for debugging, it limits the maximum number of processors and memory upon startup, windows will used them all by default. It has no effect.

  • I gotta say this: Chris, your in my way, sir

  • someone said (on youtube of course) that windows only uses ONE core on start up... even if you have one core or 100 cores. I'm not saying it uses only one or not, i'm just saying what someone else said.

  • @seetherfan1369 well from system configuration, you can change that to 4 cores.

  • @GTAIVman that's just it... even IF you change it to use 4 cores (which i have), i havent noticed a difference in start up

  • Comment removed

  • @seetherfan1369 me neither

  • fuck swat a bunch off pussy's British Armaed Forces r Better Stronger too

  • Epically gooooood I gotta look up more msconfig shit! : p

Task Manager 1 processor... Core Temp picks up the temp of 1 processor... I wanna kill my self and i feel the lost performance by operating with one processor.. What can i do guys i feel SCREWED!!! big time here

  • kill urself lol

  • Get a Mac ;)

  • @jinkerGM

    No.

I'm not going to buy something just because it's shiny.

  • Ok, buy it because it's rock solid and easy to use.

  • lawl.

  • Get into your BIOS and correct the problem.

  • I got tips for speeding up startup..

    Buy faster HDD/CPU/RAM xD

  • 7 boots fast already but great tip for vista

  • idiot...

  • I can't even press the Advanced Opions... Button.

  • @v8supercarstv makesure ur the admin first :)

  • Hmm... Gotta give it a try.

  • Should this work for Windows 7 , because their is that option.. But i don't wanna give it a go , just incase lol

  • WoW shaved off 15 seconds off of my boot time with a core i7 OC'd to 3.8ghtz

  • i dont know what to say, but i THINK i mean i am NOT sure but...at my defaults settings was 1 core (me having 2 cores) i setit up to 2 cores and...i THINK...again, i am NOT sure but i gues it works...not a BIG difference but for me i think it works...so this rly is a usefull tip.

  • is it me or does this dude talk alot

    quite a bit of redudentancy

    says alot of unesscery things

explains alot of things off topic

  • Did SWAT say 5th core machine at 2:12 ?

  • cool

  • Works for xp as well!!

  • also if u change the 30 to 3 its faster too

  • can u pls tell me hw i can spee dmy comp according to hw u did yours(full steps and details cos i dont wnt to see ur video)

  • SWAT loled

  • this is good info,i did not know that,i got a dual core processor so i changed it to 2,but on the other side of the page it show a place for memory, should i put the amount of memory i have there ?

  • LOL, Windows Vista...sigh. So glad I'm not upgrading until Windows 7 comes out. I'm sticking with Windows XP which I know works.

  • dude chill out, he has alot of good and helpfull videos. And this is an old video, he has like 3 macs now.

  • He's been on the internet doing this stuff since 1992 or 1994, it;s somewhere around there. I highly doubt you know more than Chris.

  • dude wats ur problem....chris is THE go to guy for many people online who want hints and tips on anything tech. And he does it for free so why don't you be a little bit more grateful for the service he's offering instead of coming off like an elitist chump

  • This doesn't actually do anything for boot time.

  • Different topic but: I noticed that Vista only supports 3GB of RAM. Is there a way to make Vista support all 4GB?

  • vista 32bit operating system will only recognize 3.25GB of ram. if you want more you need a 64bit operating system.

  • No it depends on something to do with PCIE (I think it was PCIE atleast...) but anyway My 32bit copies of XP and Vista recognize and can use up to 3.5GB on my machine (Intel, some Gigabyte mobo, 8800GTX, 4GB kingston ram)

  • A 64bit version of the Operating System. Im in the same place, but with XP Home 32bit, Im thinking of going Vista Home Premium 64bit next time PC gets ready for a format.

  • its no different to XP, XP was 32bit and could also only address a total of 4GB RAM. The reason you can only see 3BG is either because that's all you have installed, or your graphics memory is taking up the last GB.

  • In any 32-bit OS, you can only address (or recognise) up to 4GB of memory (2^32=4294967296 = 4GBs). If you installed 4GBs, it would work but you would only be able to use a portion of it for your system's applications (windows like Firefox, internet explorer, photoshop etc.) This is usually only about 3 - 3.5GB. The rest, is actually not used, ever. Not even for video memory, otherwise you'd only have 1gb instead of 2gb, or only 2 instead of 3, etc. graphics cards have their own DDR3 RAM.

  • Yes your right... GPUs have their own memory, my 8800GTS has 512MB for example. But, this video memory counts towards the 4GB/3.5GB of RAM addressable in a 32-bit OS. On my system I have 3GB RAM installed, if I go and install a 2GB GPU, my 32-bit OS would not address a total of 5GB. See what I mean?

  • I see. hrmph. I hate being wrong :P

  • GDDR not DDR

  • oh yeah that's the one, I forgot the G for.. graphics. I think that's what it's for LOL

  • Yes, This is a very annoying problem. I have 4GB of RAM. It only supports 3.5GB

  • she is really beautiful. im prettier tho! f

  • It does recognize but It just underclocks just like Intel they underclock there cpu's before they cell them. That is why they can be tuned up so much! :)

  • BRB Rebooting.

  • hi i have a problem with my laptop its xp everytime i go to start then press search it freezes and it doesnt work. does anybody know how to fix it

  • get ccleaner to clean the reg that could fix the prob

    NOPOL! 4" any tips

  • Can you spell useless tool?

how about "I like to hear myself talk"?

go for the #1 answer "I blog about useless chit"!

  • Is it the /NUMPROC bit?

  • nice...quad..me dual...nooo mula , dough.. lol...

  • nope let me start by saying love the vids ive gotten lots of usefuls tweaks, BUT

this for some reason increased the boot time while also increasing MY CPU and RAM usage by about 4%

  • also works for XP :D

  • wow thanks!

  • lol it is SO cool

  • Was u on beauty & the geek?? I want a quad processor not cheap. Do pc's come with quad processors i not seen em.

  • I tried this on vista and got a BSoD

  • why does pirillo uses thos e two monitor that the second isn't in use just for that little window

  • cause he can

  • lol

  • I tried this and I feel that its a placebo effect sense I cant really tell. But if vista thinks its faster then woot :D

  • NO SPEED difference on my Dell Optiplex machine. In fact, selecting dual processer rather then leaving it blank SLOWED the boot process.

  • what is ALSOME?...hey spell check is awesome.

  • IT WORKS ITS SO ALSOME!!!

  • I have a quad core too, just waiting for the final stages

  • You need a superman T shirt

  • 'Hijack This'

  • I don't see this function anywhere for XP in msconfig.

  • there is a number of processors option in XP!

Run>msconfig>Boot.ini tab>advanced options>Check noproc (Number of processors)> adjust to the correct number and apply (I THINK, i only have a single core but i looked)

  • @Colonelc81 That one actually doesn't do anything. ;)

  • click run and type msconfig

  • in xp it's "/NUMPROC="

  • And people bitch about getting Linux to work properly...

  • The setting is also in XP in the same location.

  • man swat is awesome. Great to see in the chat. my win xp boot is crazy fast must be like 5 seconds or like maybe 10 on a bad day where i press f1

  • SWEET! Thanks Swat!

  • my startup is fing fst

  • Increased my bootup by 6 seconds. wOOt, I'm down to 39 seconds. (Yeah, I'm bragging) Thanks SWAT

    -uiop

  • Waaaa... I dont. Wait what?!? 4 processers, DANG! I've got dual, but no a days who doesn't. Any way, I don't have vista. You know XP didn't catch on at first either. For faster start up I act like I'm starting up a super computer or norad or something. "Check. 3..2..1..Ahhh, If only.

  • i have 1 core, but its 3.2ghz

  • u rock

  • wow it really works is there anything else i can do? like with the memory? thanks SWAT!

  • first REAL COMMENT.

i used that quite a bit for optimizing startup time, but thanks for the reminder :). need to edit mine a bit.
