  • Thanks. THE KING!! Used to see him from 9-3 AM at the Esquire Showbar in Montreal. I couldn't leave. He was that good! He would save Soul Seranade for the end-maybe play it for 10 minutes.

  • When i was a kid I ran all the way home to try play those outrageous sax lics along with the King. He made that horn talk !

  • BACON IS GOOD FOR ME

  • whee can I can I get the fast version

  • GREAT!!

  • This is the nearest Bernard Purdie ever got to be with anything that has to do with the beatles.

  • @OropherThranduil I don't think that is Purdie. Probably Ray Lucas on drums. I think Purdie joined up about a year or two later.

  • @recordguy4321

No. Purdie was not with Curtis at the time, however there was a rumor years ago that Purdie was at this show or another Beatles show (depends on who was telling the story) and played behind the curtain along with Ringo in order to "round out" the sound.

  • @kloppedeklop I think that other version of Bojangles is on Live At The Filmore where he opened for Aretha. King Curtis was the Don.

  • IN THE POCKET

  • Wow, super duper rare footage! And for the record, that's my grandfather, Gene Walker, on baritone sax behind the King. I'm so proud of him having to tour with the greatest Rock band in history.

  • @therealsoulproduct ghahahahhahahahahhahahhahaa

  • @stefimafia And you find this funny because.....?

  • Fucking brilliant, much better than the Beatles, anyhow, he was fantastic, typical he would have been killed young. Oh well, he and Buddy are reunited somewhere.

  • @heyzog

    good joke.

    nothing compares to the beatles.

he can be happy to have been therre at the first stadium rock concert of all time, where actually i guess 0,1% percent were interested in him.

  • @OropherThranduil ha ha good joke. nothing compares to the GROOVE. here the only one interested in Beatles is you ; )

  • @OropherThranduil Dullard! The Beatles asked him to play because they worshipped him!

  • Does anybody have/know of a video of King Curtis performing Mr. Bojangles? I have the song on the live album from the Shea Stadium and an even better live version from somewhere else- I would love to watch him play it. It is the most beautiful cover I have ever heard :)

  • so true

  • Chuck Rainey on bass y'all!

  • Who needs the Beatles when you've got King Curtis?

  • @uglyguitarman so true
