Mum felt that way about her as well. We’d already watched her numerous laughing fits on ITT with Claudia and grown increasingly attached, but from the magic 10 onwards my love for the show itself had become full-blown. This is also my fondest memory of Tess (though I wish she hadn’t let go of Karen’s hand so soon), and Ramps was such a gentleman too. My parents’ friends were having a Christmas celebration, and all our families were watching the final at their house.

I can see that european and american tango it's full of technique and basic steps but with poor tango, i don't know why they called "argentine tango" the real tango can be seen in 2xtango in youtube
The routine is full of Argentine tango elements - from basic cross system walks to sacadas and enganches. Obviously it is choreographed and there are some very showy moves that would never be used in a social milonga, but that is true of any show piece.
Saw Mark do this a few weeks ago for the Strictly Tour at Wembley...he's still got it!! Definitely my favourite Strictly dance of all time (and his salsa!)
Look how happy Karen was to get a 10, I remember Natalie's face when her and Ricky's AT got a 9 from Craig she looked so disappointed, it was pathetic. You can tell Mark and Karen really appreciated the scoring though.
The filming of this is amazing too, the camera crew did a great job. Sometimes on dances the filming doesn't really do it any justice, but this was amazing!

Craig seems to have a bit of an issue with the AT- 3 A tangos now have had people baffled as to why he gave a 9 instead of a 10 (this, Rachel's and Ricky's), I wonder what it is he's marking them down for???
sorry, i do love mark, but i now think ricky whittle is the best celeb to have ever been on strictly! so talented, gorgeous, just a lovely person. him and natalie make such a good couple. love chris hollins too, so entertaining and likeable.
i never get tire of watching this dance ... mark is by far the best male dancer ever on SCD ... I wonder why Karen isn't on SCD this year ? she would make a great judge !
she retired to focus on her dance school i read, i think if one of them left she should be first choice to replace them and i know we're not the only people writing/saying this..
i think darcey's been a good judge for the two weeks, but five doesn't work it looks too crowded and i just don't think she'd commit to it on a long term basis.
Sorry I have to be the bearer of bad news but this performance might be good by Strictly Come Dancing standards but in the world of Argentine Tango it is a non-event. There are zillions of great you tube clips - go see for yourself.

Karen had never danced Argentine Tango before, and obviously as a celeb with no dance experience neither had Mark. What they achieved in that short time was little short of stunning, and in my opinion has not been surpassed.
I miss Karen so much this year - always love to watch these two when I have a spare minute. Watching Karens reaction to the ten's always makes my eyes water a tad!!

It is everysquare inch pure Argentine tango!! No mistake. There is no other dance remotely like it; steps, footwork, directional turns,pivoting, straight backs, rigid lifts, legs flicking, tension etc. All so brilliantly executed even more amazing when you think of the brief practise time they had. Really a wonderful achievement for both!

Trust me, they have not been overmarking Rachel, she has deserved most of her 10s if not all of them this series. She has been the best dancer this series for me. In fact if she gets another 2 sets of 10s in the final, she will break Alesha's record of 10's in Strictly's history. Also the standard of dancing this year has been so high that they all deserve 10s.
I am not sure... This routine is not as difficult as Vincent/Rachel's; however, Mark's look and excellent music choice compensate for the choreographic simplicity (I did not like Vincent's music).
This never gets boring, absolutely fabulous this was their dance, don;t think it will ever be bettered. Every time I hear those opening notes I think of this dance, just incredible.
Gutted we won't get to see Austin do it, I think he is the only one who could have come close =[
haha yeah i still think about this dance. for me there are just a few defining dances where music, choreography and the dance just work so perfectly. most dances, no matter how technically good they are, tend to get lost eventually. This, their salsa, jill's jive and now rachel's rumba are probably it for me.

Given the difficulty of the dance, and how sharp and polished Mark and Karen's performance was, this is probably the best dance in the history of Strictly. CRW should hang his head in shame that he gave it a 9.

Plus for a 10, craig really looks for attention to detail. especially things like hands and clean lines. I can see when you compare Mark to say Jill's jive, she just has the slight upper hand in that kind of attention to detail. So maybe thats where the 9 came from. But bugger that, I would have given it 40. Especially as I love both the song and the dance. :-)
the only reason i can think craig gave 9 was cos he is always always looking for "perfection". The only thing I can see that he could have had a teeny issue with was the beginning stances and walk where there is asymmetry from Mark in relation to Karen in the first kick-step. Because of the direction of the second kick, its possible to suggest that Mark perhaps was meant to kick to the right the first time, but didnt. However, it could have been how Karen choreographed it.
actually it's fantasia argentine tango (show tango), but it looked like it also had elements of ballroom international tango and a little of rumba in it - you can see it in Mark's hold during the promenades. Not bad for a celebrity without a dance background
It's golden eye by tina turner. It's sang by the strictly come singers here though. Tina's is amazing though. It was the theme tune for James Bond movie golden eye
Ballroom dancers can fake argentin tango better. She did the best from what she can - with ballance and leg locks. In was musical, contained argentin tango lines. Very good effort, what more do you want?
I'm sick of people commenting saying it wasnt an argentine tango or wasnt the tradiitonal music. These 2 were helped with choreography in the week by real argentine tango professionals so how can it be wrong or rubbish? There are many different ways of doing the dance but i think people just have to see it for what it was, a fantastic performance.
The music's not Argentine (or any other kind of) tango, but it works for Artango because it has a slow-slow rhythm, the same as Artango music. There's a movement in the tango community called neotango. It includes using compatible non-tangos, non-tangos played by a tango band, and tangos played by non-tango instruments. Check for a website call neotango dot com for more info.

The guachos were cowboys miles away from where the Argentine tango started. AT first it was men dancing with men!! Cos they were homesick and remembering their homeland. The pampas were literally miles away.Goodman is so full of himself its sickening. Architypal cockney sorry to say. Tone it down and tell it properly.
This still remains my favourite Argentine Tango AND my favourite SCD dance EVER! The celebrities this year (Well, last year actually) just totally didn't give it as much passion as these 2 did. I could watch this all day, and never tire of it.

Plus for a 10, craig really looks for attention to detail. especially things like hands and clean lines. I can see when you compare Mark to say Jill's jive, she just has the slight upper hand in that kind of attention to detail. So maybe thats where the 9 came from. But bugger that, I would have given it 40. Especially as I love both the song and the dance. :-)

the only reason i can think craig gave 9 was cos he is always always looking for "perfection". The only thing I can see that he could have had a teeny issue with was the beginning stances and walk where there is asymmetry from Mark in relation to Karen in the first kick-step. Because of the direction of the second kick, its possible to suggest that Mark perhaps was meant to kick to the right the first time, but didnt. However, it could have been how Karen choreographed it.

actually it's fantasia argentine tango (show tango), but it looked like it also had elements of ballroom international tango and a little of rumba in it - you can see it in Mark's hold during the promenades. Not bad for a celebrity without a dance background

No one of them is argentin Tango dancers.
Karen is international latin dancer.
Ballroom dancers can fake argentin tango better. She did the best from what she can - with ballance and leg locks. In was musical, contained argentin tango lines. Very good effort, what more do you want?

I'm sick of people commenting saying it wasnt an argentine tango or wasnt the tradiitonal music. These 2 were helped with choreography in the week by real argentine tango professionals so how can it be wrong or rubbish? There are many different ways of doing the dance but i think people just have to see it for what it was, a fantastic performance.

The music's not Argentine (or any other kind of) tango, but it works for Artango because it has a slow-slow rhythm, the same as Artango music. There's a movement in the tango community called neotango. It includes using compatible non-tangos, non-tangos played by a tango band, and tangos played by non-tango instruments. Check for a website call neotango dot com for more info.

The guachos were cowboys miles away from where the Argentine tango started. AT first it was men dancing with men!! Cos they were homesick and remembering their homeland. The pampas were literally miles away.Goodman is so full of himself its sickening. Architypal cockney sorry to say. Tone it down and tell it properly.

This still remains my favourite Argentine Tango AND my favourite SCD dance EVER! The celebrities this year (Well, last year actually) just totally didn't give it as much passion as these 2 did. I could watch this all day, and never tire of it.
