  • Great band ever

  • Comment removed

  • great song!!!!

  • Iruñea gogoan!!!

  • I use to rock my son to sleep when he was a newborn. Special song for me.

  • Greatest band ever. Heh, just kidding. They'll always have a special spot in my heart, though.

  • god I love this song, and this group!

  • does susanna hoffs have the face of angel or what?

  • A girl band using Rickenbackers.... you can't get any more cool than that. ^_~

  • I REALLY LOVE HER SINGING & VERY ATTRACTIVE!! THANK'S FOR THE POST!!

  • Thank you for uploading this, I forgot all about this song .. until now.

  • got it, the song is about drugs... iwas hoping it was more than that but laurah made me sure its about drugs...thanks Laurah...i got it !!! drugs

  • Mickie Steele...I want to be your doormat !!

  • These song are the crown jewels of the 20th century and maybe the 21st to

  • This is my second favorite Bangles song. The first of course is Eternal Flame. I love these chicks. God...the 80's. I think I was 2 when this came out, and I remember my older cousins dancing on the coffee table singing to this with big ass hair wearing acid washed mini skirts and leg warmers lol

  • The 80's produced the best music of all time!

  • @TheRichmondTiger Yeah along with the 60s, 70s, 90s etc.

  • This is a great song about addiction. Susanna had an experience about a friend with a nasty cocaine addiction and a very dedicated boyfriend who would have done anything to win the girlfriend over the drug. Awesome song!!! Not sure if she was the "girlfriend" , but, lol, I think she was the "girlfriend", but couldnt say for obvious reasons, especially back then. But its a very powerful song, and very true.

  • @laurah1150 wow so nice of you - who seem to know all - to explain the innerworkings of the Bangles....thanks, just a question (and to all of these wierdoes on youtube who seem to know the innermost thoughts of the artists) , how do you know what you say is true??/ your ead it where?, or heard while high?, or saw it in the enquirer, or thought it sounds nice? what?? if you had any cred you would have stated it in your story, so if you cant say why, then stop your self aggrandizing shweeeeeet

  • @fuzzypige222 My information came from an interview Susanna gave to MTV during the height of their career. And I dont get "high", never have. I was married to a drug addict for 8 yrs and thats how I know about addiction, unfortunately. But I didnt feel my credibility would be questioned on YouTube. LOL. But hope that answers your questions.

  • @laurah1150

Nope. Hoffs didn't tell MTV interviewers why she wrote "If She Knew What She Wants", or what it was about, because she didn't write it. She covered it years after it was released by songwriter Jules Shear.

It's not a drug song. It's a Jules Shear song. The lyrics are very intelligent and CLEAR. They made sense to me when I was fourteen; why do you still not understand them?

  • @laurah1150

Nice theory, except this is a cover of a Jules Shear song. It's a song by a guy about a girl. It has nothing to do with the Hoffs or the Bangles at all.

  • Those was the days!! Late 80's puffy hair big color earrings !!! Colorful gear !!! All the teenage girls thought they was Goddess and role models

  • @Blancoseventysix - Get in line, Chuckles.

  • all the bangles are hot !!! & they are a really tallented group.great music....

  • Que linda eres Susy!! aun ahora arriba de los cincuenta!! gracias por existir!!!

  • I love Susan since they first showed up on stage and she is still beautiful on dancing with the stars last night WOW super CRUSH BG

  • Wow. i forgot how beautiful that was. Talk about goosebumps x

  • Wow i forgot how beatiful that was. Talk about g

  • que hermosa cancion,,me fascina

  • I said it elsewhere. I'll say it again. Bangles had the most profound vocal harmony in the history of music. I think that if someone had encouraged them, they would have stuck it out and really rocked the music world. In fact, they did already. But it wasn't time for them to quit.

  • @AmazGraz Absolutely right, they had amazing harmonies!

  • @AmazGraz

"Most profound vocal harmony in the history of music"? The Bangles?

Wow, you sure haven't ever listened to the Beach Boys. Or the Beatles. Or even Barenaked Ladies. Or very much music at all. Never mind The Byrds -- how about birds? The wind? Do you like the sound of the dishwasher running at night? Ever heard a child laugh? That's pretty "profound", right?

  • Simplesmente linda essa musica..............sem comentários...

  • Thumbs up if GMA bought you here!! lol

  • 12 string guitar that the Byrds would be proud of and great harmonys to ...perfect pop song that has that 60s feel about it .

  • Wow. I thought I was the only Bangles fan. :-) Love the love and agree with you all!

  • I had a HUGE crush on her when i was a teen. Still do.

  • wowowowowowowowowowo!!!love it yep !!!

  • this song came into my head today and now i remember why. its top drawer and s h plays the john lennon rickenbacker

  • The Primitives.

  • I still have a crush on Susanna. She's still hot.

  • What a great sound............and they look good!

  • The female Beatles

  • @MrOdelay72 Defintely reminded me of the female Beatles. I don't think they understood what they had at the time or they would have made so many more albums together.

  • @mydogspet The beatles and the Bangles' legend and legacy will live as much a "eternal flame". ¬¬

  • @MrOdelay72 I've always thought of the "What if's..." although that's moot. "What if they all could have gotten past their differences... what wonderful music would have been created, songs we can't even imagine." All the same, they added so much joy to my life. That can never be forgotten.

  • @mydogspet besides the joy, they gave meaning to my life and still make me cry remember those times that never come back. Greetings from Mexico and love in this 2012 ¬¬

  • @MrOdelay72 Hi Mr O. It's like a breath of fresh air. Greetings for the U.S. Hope you find more bands to give you joy in the coming year.

  • @mydogspet Thanks, there are a couple of good musicians who make me happy and I hope you have what you want in 2012 and forever. ¬¬

  • @mydogspet havent they reunited?

  • @donquixote2u 3 have united. All the same, it's so hard to get back that momentum they had and the chemistry.

  • @MrOdelay72 the beatles are the male beatles

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • totally in love with Susan Hoffs WOW she is so pretty BG

  • Nothing more attractive than a beautiful woman who can sing AND handle the guitar!!!

  • I listen to this song every time I try and figure women out

  • 24 people don't know what they want.

  • da guy in da video was me :P

  • It's time for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to recognize Linda Ronstadt first.

  • @rootedsorrow I totally agree... funny how The Eagles (who toured with her, as her band, in the early 70s went on to make their own albums and were inducted in 1998. Here we are in 2011 and Linda is now 65 years old. She has an amazing history of musical talent and has helped many other musicians. I can't believe she has not been inducted!

  • the all time best all girl band. hands down.

  • I never knew before that the Bangles is really pretty hot!!! XD

  • this video has a retro 60s thing like hulabaloo shindig etc. like the sounding out ooooooooooos at the begining.

  • @mikr671 -- Could you really be old enough to remember Hullabaloo and Shindig? These girls were kids in the 60s watching those shows just like I was -- so groovy.

  • I think I was 7 when I saw this. And I still think Susanna Hoffs is effing fine. :)

  • @BetamaxBabe Yes, it's time!

  • I still love these girls where are all the good girl bands

  • I miss the 80's. MTV was cool back then and sooooo many girls made themselves look like the pop stars.. I miss the 80's.... Beach parties, convertibles, and girls were so much bettter looking then the overweight girls today... At least I have the memories to live with....

  • it's one of my favorite videos

  • 23 Idiots I agree= 23 jealous women I bet

  • this song and walk like an egyptian... love it! :)

  • Is it me or she really looks like Penelope Cruz? But prettier.

  • This is a far better song than their biggest hits in my opinion.

  • @Nemspy agreed!!

  • After having been listening to interview with them, Michael Steele really surprises me about her intellect and ability of comprehension of existence....

Must have been so hard for her, losing both her parents with only one year gap

    ed

  • Oh Susanna! Oh won"t you play for me?

  • Beautiful song; held in a Beatles setting; but even so; notthing wrong with that.....Susanna's mother played Beatles for her daughter.....so!!

    ed

  • Susanna is so pretty :)

  • I think Susanna was in love with John Lennon - (and she definitely had been a better choice than dragoon) - since she is using the same Rickenbacker as he had then...

    Fascinating woman..

    A dream for boys fantasies.....

    ed

  • 1 day she's satisfied, and the next I find her crying, and it's nothing she can explain

  • It's time to induct the Bangles into Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Now.

  • @BetamaxBabe Along with the Go-Gos

  • @BetamaxBabe there good but queens beter. :) there good to! lol

  • @BetamaxBabe HEAR! HEAR! The greatest female rock combo ever (sorry Runaways fans) No one even comes close.

  • I was born in 89 but I wish I was raised all the way through the 80's.

  • @RayRoark2009

Eternal Flame and In Your Room were all over Top 40 that year, Ray. So cheers!

  • @BetamaxBabe Hey , you know what . That is right :) Thanks for reminding me ^^

  • How sugar pretty she is here.....

    ed

  • love this song so much (:

  • Hot women + Real talent = One kick ass band and thats the Bangles. Hoffs, Steele and the Peterson sisters were destine to perform together and It is this line up that made them star. Not just Hoffs

  • well, I am taking a break from youtube long enough to pop in my September Gurls cd and listen to it for a while!!

  • 25 years later I am still in love with Susanna Hoffs.

  • It is difficult for me to pick my favorite Bangles song but this is a contender and is at least in the top three with Eternal Flame and I'll Set You Free.

  • Susannas what we want! Yum

  • @joker22munzo I'm actually partial to Michael Steele, myself.

  • The Bangles are The Female Version of The Beatles.

  • @perpetual61

True!!! - and if you read about Susanna's childhood you will understand why.....(wikipedia)

    ed

  • @eddyjacobsensongs If you ask me, there also like an all female version of the Eagles. Even though they didn't play the west coast rockabilly music that was popular when they started in LA, they do imitate their style and harmonies. I refer to the Eagles as the ultimate male barber shop quartet and the Bangles as the ultimate all female barber shop quartet.

  • @MrMansterdawg Only four degrees of separation between the Bangles and the Eagles: Bangles - Jules Shear - Jack Tempchin (Shears and Tempchin were together in the Funky Kings) - Eagles...

  • How can anybody - dislike - this beautiful song; and the vocalist's voice IS really somehting different......innocence-sounding.....yeah!!

    ed

  • Wooh; they are really good; I have only heard that September Gurl before...but the lead vocalist is really very, very good; her voice clearly resembles the Belgium winner of European song contest some hears ago; Sahra; I think her name was...

I am amazed of her good she is......warm, round sensitive voice

  • damn ... the 80s are the best... why cant they make music like this nowadays?

  • @ternens I hear you on that one. Im glad there are 80s radio stations on satellite radio cause if they didnt, I would probably go crazy.

  • Today is Susanna's birthday. I was once trying to describe the prettiest girl I knew in college and the best description I could come up with was "Imagine Susanna Hoffs with unbelievable green eyes". I thought the friend I said this to almost burst a blood vessel in his brain trying to comprehend the thought.

  • great beauts nd talentous music

  • Loved The Bangles!

  • The Bangles, my favorite 80's Rock Band.

  • OMG, I used to melt over Susannah Hoffs!! Thanx for posting.

  • damnn I miss the 80s

  • This is the best Bangles´song and one of the best songs of the 80´s.

It´s unbelievable and unfair that it only was top 40.

  • the Bangles, Heart and the Runaways are the real deal the rest, like vixen were just talentless hacks.

  • It was 1985..... everything was a surprise.... what great times.....

  • man, susanne is so freaking hot in this video!

  • I grew up in the 1908s and had a thing for Susanna Hoffs. This is their best song.

  • I don't get it, they were SO UNCOOL and yet they had the best melodies in a generation. Mcartney said the only song he wish he had written was Friday on my mind by the Easybeats. I wonder what he would have made of these guys. I had this CD about a week after it came out and I have almost worn it out in the intervening twenty five years, it's still as perfect today as it was back then.

  • Adoro as Bangles, são a minha banda preferida, e esta é sem dúvida uma das melhores músicas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I Saw the Bangles in November at the 2010 "Pretty in Punk" benefit at the Roxy in LA. Although it was a short set about 35 to 40 minutes, it was great to see and hear them. They all look great; Vicki and her Husband John Cowsill, was milling around in the crowd in from of me before she went on. It was a great chance to see them upclose and playing their great music. I notice the audience was both young and older so it seems their music will continue to live on forever!

  • Susanna Hoffs fan should search yotube for "susanna hoffs the allnighter", you'll be glad you did.

  • susanna hoffs smokin hot

  • thanks!!

  • A mi esta mujer cantarina me tiene enamorado desde que tengo uso de razón... olé por ella ¡¡¡

  • I would give Susanna Hoffs anything she wants...
