-Getting a "penalty" for hitting a wall in rally races- did it ever occur to these people that hitting a wall is, in itself, a penalty? Do they realize that it automatically slows you down? I don't need someone to kick me after I trip and break my neck.
-Tires that wear out after 3 laps, while your opponents tires magically DON'T
@ejdf870 Why would you want to sell a car that cost that much to begin with? At this time, its much easier to obtain credits. Penalty is annoying but you should practice on not crashing. Tires wearing out? The AI don't drive as aggressively. Learning to not crash and driving smoothly is key. The game is suppose to be a simulation. Simulations are suppose to mimic reality. Reality is a DOUCHE BAG.
@ejdf870 Oh by the way, if you go to B-Spec you will clearly see that on races where tires wear down, that your AI opponents tires do in fact wear down like yours. So do their gas levels and strength levels. I am sure it is the same in A-Spec.

considering that this game was in production for like 5 years, I can only imagine how good the next GT will look. the graphics on a good screen are Eye-popping, and the gameplay is still ultra realistic. Seriously, this Racer is TOPS!
BTW, if anyone wants to make quick $40 or just get a retail copy of this game for ps3 for free, check the video I just uploaded. I just hacked an offer for this game. Put one copy on amazon, and kept one for myself. Probalby wont' last too long.

In my opinion Gran Turismo is just too realistic. It seems like 40mph when your actually driving 250mph... but this is just my opinion. I think Burnout Revenge is the best racing game ever made. Gran Turismo is just boring to me...

@dude2106 I'm sure they are just about done with all the cars. What is taking so much time is the physics. Creating realistic physics for a racing game is much harder than for your standard FPS. Then there's the lighting, and the overall amazing graphics. I really doubt they are still working on car designs and the like.

The game developers need to stop making football, NASCAR, golf, or any game is not because the graphics stayed the same. It's the gameplay that stays the same and no new courses or techniqnes added. The "first successful racing sim or sims" would go to Papyrus and Geoff Gramond at Microprose. Indy 500 The Simulation, NASCAR Racing, Grand Prix 1 & 2 were huge at the time, regardless of how many copies sold compared to todays games (which is pointless for obvious reasons), they were all successful titles at the time.

It just takes too long!!!! and why make it so god damn perfect.. why not just make a game that is good, and then update it with more cars and tracks and so on instead of spending a million years on making it perfect and then two years later the graphics are outdated anyway.

@jawehawk I do like quality too, but they can make it good and then just don't have a billion cars from day one. Then let people drive a few hundred cars and then update it with more cars and more tracks. Because the time it has taken PD to develop this game is totally rediculous! Just look at what GT4 is now. It is totally outdated, but there is still no GT to replace it. Only the prologue which really only is a large demo.

@dude2106 I'm sure they are just about done with all the cars. What is taking so much time is the physics. Creating realistic physics for a racing game is much harder than for your standard FPS. Then there's the lighting, and the overall amazing graphics. I really doubt they are still working on car designs and the like.

do you know wich car i have never seen in any recing or car games is the chevy lumina why dont they put that car in the game i know peolpe dont like that car and its preaty slow but in gran turismo 4 they add the ford T wich can only go up to 40mph and the lumina could go 115 mph to me i think the chevy lumina is cool.

The game developers need to stop making football, NASCAR, golf, or any game is not because the graphics stayed the same. It's the gameplay that stays the same and no new courses or techniqnes added. I don't think they will ever be as good looking as GT5. (I know I was being a graphic whore but I felt like I need to make this comment who are interested in these titles.)

umm what is forza??? oh yea that one game inspired by gran turismo. gran turismo launched the first racing sim game that was a big hit. selling over 50 million copies now. yea it inspired all those other racing sims out there but dont come close to Gran Turismo realism. i played forza with friends i think its fun. but you cant drift =[ no matter if you tune the camber or mess with the sway bars or tire pressure you cant drift..... how is that a driving sim?? gran turismo is king of racing sims

Sorry but you have no idea of the history of "Racing Sims" Racing sims have been around since the late 80's to early 90's on PC. I still don't see the detail of physics and track mapping another PC title currently has.

gran turismo was the first succesful racing sim. and if there were better racing sims i would play on computer but i need to have about $2,000 of a custom built computer to support something that looks identical to ps3 but is not heard of???

The "first successful racing sim or sims" would go to Papyrus and Geoff Gramond at Microprose. Indy 500 The Simulation, NASCAR Racing, Grand Prix 1 & 2 were huge at the time, regardless of how many copies sold compared to todays games (which is pointless for obvious reasons), they were all successful titles at the time.

And the amount of cars has nothing to do with sim or arcade, the way it is with the GT series is more cars = less accuracy.
BTW I've played both series on the PS1 and PS2

I sold my Xbox 360 and I'm not saying that Forza 3 sucked I just think that GT5 is way better...2 biggest mistakes I've ever made in my life: Selling my Honda S2000 when I got married and selling my PS3 with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Metal Gear Solid 4...GT5 kills Forza in all aspects...

dude um most hard core racers actually prefer forza 3 over GT5 maybe you dont like games like that but um forza is considered more realistic and its graphics are second right behind Uncharted. Also forza has almost infinite ways of customization. GT5 doesnt suck, its good i its own way but i prefer Forza
