Yeah, you can open the door at any time, but like fasting or calling for a vision you take a certain level of responsobility for yourself when you do this. This wasn't a real lodge and the door was NOT opened when people needed it to be. They were refused exit, There were 60 some people crammed into a place that was covered in plastic, a place that had no ventilation. Some of the people were going into seizures, throwing up (Sign of dehydration) and organ failure.

Those deaths had NOTHING to do with being a bad or impure person. It was not done in the true way of a sweatlodge. Ray was demanding them to push past limitations.
