  • What's with the gold Helicopter on the dash?!

  • Merci pour cette vidéo très intéressante. Il est juste dommage que l'on ne comprenne plus rien à partir du start de la turbine :(

  • The little dash mounted helo was the highlite of the video. Viva la fronce.

  • Apparently they even LiveStrong in France!

  • muy bonito si señor, treviant mes amici!!

  • i can't understand him. i don't speak that language.

  • @mk2efords i tell ya it gonna take a while man

  • Most important lesson: Pull the annoying low rotor RPM warning circuit breaker. Oh and yeah, remember to push it back in after reaching flight idle.

  • @CrazyHeliDude i would say the most important is to not crack the throttle wide open...its a pretty expensive mistake

  • @jack that's cuz they where speaking french :P

  • 22 people dont like choppers.

  • Whats that thing spinning on top of the panel? Looks like a mini chopper.

  • i like helicopters and hi!!!

  • me thinks the field would have been better take off for a student vs the heavily enclosed bit theat he took off from

  • well lets hope that they dont have this tutorials for 747 or else godamns arabs are going go kamikae again in NY

  • i am 14 and i can fly this helicopter thats easy

  • @derskateboarder simulators don't count :p

  • Good vid but man these guys don't speak English too well. I couldn't understand a word they said, they slur their words so bad it's like all I could hear was that French accent.

  • @mk2efords Well, if you noticed, when you're flying everyone has to know how to speak English.

  • 5:26 for the engine sound fanatics ... ;-)

  • Sorry, way late on pitch pull. Risk a turbine over speed. Good thing for ECU on the turbine.

  • You think so. I didn't notice. Hard to tell to me without being able to see the %rpm.

  • ahhhhh... the jetranger. Classic

  • Seriously folks...learn French...chicks love it!

  • @timmytyphoon wrong. chicks love SPEAKING in french, but they don't like guys that do.

  • It is very good French for that matter. North Central France probably.

  • ENGLISH PLEASE!!!! lol

  • Why Can't everyone just speak english.the world would be a better place with better communication. where is the piggin ignition key?? Where is the stereo Player??

and not even a Tree Air Freshener?? Paly voo Fraus Say wee! Stop Hipping and just press the figgin button on the cyclic stick and BINGO it Starts up.

  • what the fuck is he saying ,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • "La George" - autopilot ???

  • @pappabagge George is pilot slang for autopilot, yes. "I'm going to let George fly for a bit."

  • Wonderfully explained didn´t understand a word, I guess this guy made the film for French speakers only :-((

  • Who is learning to fly?

I would have thought that the student would have had previous experience in piston helis like the R22.

I don't understand why people bash a foreign language just because they can't be arsed to learn it. The world is not English.

    Super vid.

  • I like the little wooden helicopter on the instrument panel

  • God I hate French. You sound like a bunch of faggots. Speak english or die.

  • if you put the title in english, try to make the video following the same language please!

  • i think he says 1234? thats as much as my french goes :L

  • Starting and flying a helicopter is one difficult thing to do but to learn it from a fast talking french instructor is asking for the impossible.

  • subtitles? would be great!!!

  • too bad their french... this video would be much more interesting....

  • can you translate in to English for me please i am interested but can not under stand. thanks

  • I wouldn't trust that instructor. He got too long hair!

  • wat the hell r these guys saying

  • @mk2efords It's french, it isn't that hard to understand if you have half a brain.

    Christian Gandon (XianGdn).

  • I will try to translate this video for u.....and put the translation in this small windows...

  • No wonder helicopters crash when the instructors speaks French!!!

  • @mk2efords haw he haw

  • Problème les enfants ? :)

  • Very well shot and nice audio. Too bad I don't speak français!

  • @djdood

    English subtitles on video now...

  • this is the best vid i have seen so far but i cant understand it

  • I'ts very easy for me to understand what the instructor says, i'm French

You can learn French if you can...

  • @Ericdu02 crétin!

  • i built this very helicopter you f@#k

  • Thats easy for him to say....

  • En francais!!!

    Augh haugh haugh....

  • You know how to use google translate, good for you.

  • zock la blue

  • I didnt understand a word but it was still cool !!

  • english pleeeeeeese

  • The instructor is Mr. Michel Anglade. Hes what I would call a natural born pilot, who has no less than 25000 hours in helicopter, and several thousand of hours in other aircrafts. As you can see on this video and many other ones, he likes to share his passion with us. Thanks to him.

  • Why cant this be in English....?

    Doh...

  • why didn't you learn french ?

Sorry for mk2efords you should do like bloody french go to school to learn something else..

  • very nice helicopter and also a lovely takeoff

  • Great vid, wish it were in Engl...

    Some great comments too...

    Thanks

  • looks like an aweful lot of trees around for a rookie to be at the controls :)

  • goddammit the sound of the generator and turbine gets me everytime

  • lol

    this solar mini copter... xD

  • Yeah...uncle sam doesnt always have the copyrights to whats best....however that dude would have been done if that c20 would have ever decided to "hot start"...unless of course he depends on his instructors hand always being there...by the way, isnt the gas turbine side on a 250-c20 referred to as a N1 rather that an Ng??could be wrong since uncle sam doesnt always teach us the "right way"!!

  • shouldn't use his thumb...for the idle release..hold the starter with your middle finger right hand, index finger resting on the idle release in case of hot start to roll the throttle closed...LOL..i wonder how much he paid for those lessons...i got paid to learn..good ol uncle sam. HOOAH

  • Different strokes for different folks. Uncle Sam doesn't always have the copyright on doing everything THE right or best way! As long as you "top" Ng before opening the throttle a healthy C20 won't over-temp.

  • The French language very beautiful language!!!

  • I agree, I just cant understand it.......

  • you comment made me laugh.

  • i remember my first turbine start up on the 206... haha DONT let go of the button, but why.... bad things will happen :S

  • Yeah, I remember my instructor saying: Whatever happens, you DO NOT let go of the Starter Button.

  • why is that actually, I've heard it before, but I dont know why... Could you (or someone) explain? (why you should not release start button)

  • Basically turbines have a very high combustion temperature (talking between 700 and 1500°C, and they rely on air cooling the internal parts, this maily happens with the turbine spinning which drives a fan at the intake which draws cool air in, at low RPM there is little flow through the turbine, which is why you spin it up with the starter, before you add fuel, without the starter there is even less cool flow and the heat would melt internal parts of the turbine.

  • So if you let go of the starter, you take away the only possible source of cooling at low RPM, leading to a heat shock, imagine like this, take a lighter and click it and hold your palm close above the flame, you will withdraw it after a while because it gets so hot, but blow gently against the flame, and you can keep your hand there almost indefinitely, the starter does the blowing in the helicopter by spinning the turbine which drives the fan which draws fresh air in.

  • My first start in the 206 we had a undercharged battery, so the TOT ran up at an insane speed.. I can still hear my instructor shouting "close it! close it!" and me fumbling around in panic closing the throttle, thumb slipping off the starter button etc.. Geez. But everything turned out ok.. Now I'm very paranoid about the TOT when I start :)

  • Heee... I like the little dashboard ornament!

  • I presume that this is in France. The irony is almost inescapable: in the birth place of the Eurocopter A Star, they learn in American made JetRangers.

  • So where is the irony?

  • I think it is interesting that the IP is wearing a LIVESTRONG band.

  • to bad it wasn't in english

  • WOW!

To bad I can not see the landing!

Ours is going out on Ebay ;o(

    Thanks for the video!

  • What is on top of the instrument cluster?

  • i think its a wooden helicopter

  • Looks like they're in someone's backyard. Fences, trees, and I see a horse walking around! WTF?! Shouldn't you be at an airport?! lol

  • It's not english its French

  • It'd be cool to fly a chopper.

  • what kind of stupidity does your brain produce

  • ???

  • there is nothing stupid about wanting to fly an helicopter..that is why aviation schools exist

  • It was a joke.

  • Well said SDG, but I doubt any of the previous posters are experienced pilots. I'm not; my experience is fixed-wing bush bashing (26 yrs), but I've a few hours in a friend's R-22. One thing with pilots is we're generally very welcoming and warm to visitors. The 'Me Big Arrogant Pilot' crowd are usually poseurs.

That guy's a real good instructor. Though I speak no French; his instructions were clear enough to get a pretty good idea of the process. I'd certainly enjoy flying with him. :)

    Cheers!

  • Hang on matey - not everybody who likes helis (notably the 206) is an experienced pilot! I've watched loads of these start up/take off videos and there always peppered with arrogant comments from experienced pilots. I'm not, but if I was I would never dream of being arrogant/elitist/maverick/Air America etc, towards those that aren't! A friend owns a 206 and I'm fortunate I can go and have the occasional flight now and then. They are wonderful machines and not just limited to those that know!

  • Careful. Make sure you have enough fuel for a mercy mission.

I see this going bad in a big way.

I wish you guys the best.

  • Man, I wish this was in English! Does anyone know of an English startup/checklist procedure?

  • This men fly in Eupto

  • nice gradual startup and making sure everything works before taking off

  • nice takeoff and i have a hughes 500

  • And I bet you don't.

  • okay u got me. but i work for helicopter company and i fly a hughes MD500

  • You're probably 13 years old.

  • ur probaly 8 years old

  • What Model do you fly exactly?

  • what do u mean?

    the MD500

  • it aint over til the fat lady sings! oh im sorry i didnt mean to bring ur mum into this

  • If you dont know what he means by this, then you are as busted as posers come.

  • Comment removed

  • english please

  • Wow it's really hard (actually boring)to translate a 9 min video.

  • je ne parlez pas de fracais

  • You can fuck the turbines if your not alert on startup

  • yep,,let go of the starter while start will cause the tots to exceed normal temps, then you melt the hotbox, and it will cost in the range of 150k,big no no

  • That's called an hot start, inside the engine (combustion part) the temperature exeeds the normal temps (like megikon said) and that melts parts of the engine down and than you're pretty screwed. Letting go of the starter isn't the only cause of a hot start

  • Too bad I can't understand a word except "temperature"

  • how much would that helicopter cost?

  • 1,000,000,000 no joke

  • If a Sikorsky S-70A would cost round about $70,000,000; I don't think a 206 would cost as much as $1,000,000,000. With all due respect sir, of course. A 2007 Bell 206 cost about $1,600,000; no more than $1,780,000.

  • That would have to be on nice 206!

  • A brand New jet ranger (not a long ranger) you can gt for $900K if you get the right deal. A long ranger can go over $1 mil...an AS350B2 was around $1.1 Million new back 3 years ago, today they are worth more I think because of the demand for them. Eurocopter is back ordered of B2's and now B3's are just as popular, but little more expensive.

  • No, you are off by about 98.6 Million dollars

  • You must not be talking about American dollars... A Bell JetRanger 206B-3 costs anywhere from $750,000 to 1.1m depending on how it's configured.

  • I was talking about the guy who said it costs $1,000,000,000

  • - @ g007monroe -

    I know...

For years I seriously tried talking my wife into letting me buy one. She's not letting me - ever.

  • A billion dollars? Check your zeros mate - you might be a little overzealous there..

  • about 1400$

  • translate pls xD

  • Chouette. Et l'ecran noir la, c'est quoi? GPS? DVD? ;)

  • mierda que apero

  • Did you notice how calm the horse in the stable was with all that noise?

  • Hey Jetranger fans. On Jan 24, 2008, Bell announced it is ceasing production of this awesome chopper and also the 430! Let them know nicely that we oppose! :)

  • Bell is producing better helicopters to replace them. The 206 and 430 are OLD! :D

  • How would you like us to do that?

  • muy bueno

  • en brief, the instructor is advising the limitations of the gauges on start up. Also how to cross reference. Throttle setting and pitch setting

  • c bien sa vous donnne plus de motivation a devenir pilote

  • I would like to find the original site this came from. I remember a whole set of vids of this guy where he took two guys on a training and did some rather low level flying including flying under some power lines.

  • translate to spanish!! lol

  • yes translate to english and italian!!!

  • Please translate to English!

  • Fantastique , felicitation

    mon helico des reves .
