  • It is so great to hear the daimoku of the Lotus Sutra! It is truly regrettable that the Gohonzon was shown in recorded media. Had it not been for that I probably would of made it my featured video. Though at times we may not understand the wisdom behind it, following enlightened direction will lead to greater benefit...

  • the chanting for animals website

    ndbchantingforanimals(dot)org

  • great video

    all faith shared is good

  • @edge907 1st of all reread your post it makes no sense. Second - whatever you have to tell yourself. I don't need to be bothered with judging you. I'm merely stating that if you are eating animals you are not a TRUE Buddhist. Buddha respects ALL life. That means not paying for someone else's suffering, especially when there are million other things you can eat to survive. Again - whatever you have to tell yourself, go ahead.

  • Love love love!!!!! I actually have this daimoku recording saved on my phone.. I listen to it at work!! It instantly changes my vibration!!

  • ..sento cedere,energia, forza vitale..grazie!

  • SGI>Nichiren Shoshu

  • soka gakkai . Bambocci pilotati a distanza dal giappone. Ikeda burattinaio nipponico

  • Please Visit N S T . O R G to learn about the correct teachings of True Buddhism thank you

  • this was good video with the sound of daimoku. there is no need to have image of the Gohonzon. its like taking a picture of a mirror. that makes no sense. and its a form of slander. you point of this video is the diamoku.

  • NMRK!!!

  • @mryeoy69 HEHEHEHE...poros ti

  • @cla400 as long i get the idea of mryeoy69, he is pushing, trying to scold or prosecute; and you have replied something like F U. Is that? well if is it, i agree and i must say suck off mryeoy69 too. What if Nichiren had had the same idea? Nobody would never ever have known the Law or even the Gohonzon. What a crap this guy is. Congratulations Cla400.

  • @mryeoy69 grazie

  • @mryeoy69 svegliati

  • @mryeoy69 The fundamentals of Buddhist religion there is the orientation of the Gohonzon must be preserved exhibition trivial, consider a failure that made the video author. As a Buddhist SGI, respect for all religions, and therefore I have to respect their laws and dogmas, even though sometimes I may not agree with them. Therefore, exposure of the Gohonzon in this way was unneeded, and their exposure shows that the author of the video only want to cause controversy

  • @Adonynam svegliati...e cambia video...sgi è un fake

  • @Adonynam incorrect. the SGI Gohonzon is a photo copy. what is the difference between a video and a photocopy? His videos are beautiful. no retribuzione !! he wasn't trying to cause controversy. there is a lot about the SGI that you do not know. pax from USA.

  • uh oh....someone is exposing himself...cover up that gohonzon! NMRK

  • @redspirit1976 BUONA FORTUNA....:)

  • @redspirit1976 ma svegliatevi

  • Rispondi a questo video...svegliati

  • @cla400 @redspirit1976 ....All Gohonzon are reproductions. the SGI Gohonzon is a photo copy. what is the difference between a video and a photocopy? cla400, your videos are beautiful. no retribuzione !! pax from USA.

Cerca e vedrai....Cordiali saluti.Grazie a te.

  • thank you so much for posting this. i have been a Nichiren Buddhist for 2 years, though i admit i have not practiced for quite sometime. after see your video, i made a visit to my Kaikon, and chanted for 2 hours. i wept at hearing Daimoku after so long and feeling the connectedness i thought i had lost, restored. thank you thank you thank you. Deep Love. In Devotion to the Mystic Law of the Universe.

  • @ponzb we were designed to eat meat there is nothing abnormal about that

  • @Nikbones ok....are you sure your commenting the right post because i see NO reference to eating habits in my post ABOVE. i am mildly insulted. but not enough to ruin my experience. good try tho.

  • Buddhism is about peace, try and achive that guys. Also, if you chose this path, please become true Buddhists, do not eat meat, respect all life.

    Nam Myoho Renge Kyo

  • @filmfelineadmin You shouldn't try to put people your box by saying that can't be true Buddhists if they eat meat.

  • @edge9o7 If you feel guilt it's your guilt not mine. I'm not "trying" anything I mean EVERY WORD

If you want to call yourself a true Buddhist stop supporting death. Paying for death is the same as killing.

Learn some self restrain and adopt a healthy diet. Shame on you for support of any animal that is slaughtered.

I stand by what I say. There are many pseudo Buddhists, only a few make true effort to follow the law

  • @filmfelineadmin

How did you construe my statement to that of guilt? My statement was that you should not judge people. I do eat a healthy diet. Fyi, there are vegetarian and vegan food choices that are not healthy.

You are both Buddhist and animal rights activist but confuse the two. I am the former and not the latter. If you would try to "deny" anyone Buddhahood for any reason then you will not be able to attain Buddhahood yourself. So for you, I say don't put anyone in a box.

  • @edge9o7 A REAL BUDHIST DOES NOT KILL NOR DOES HE PAY FOR KILLING

MANY budhists eat meat. WRONG. They are not practicing true teachings of Budha.

Not a judgment, a comment. If you want to be part of a fad or do something 'cool' join a yoga class. You want to be Budhist LEARN what true BUDHISM is - respect for ALL LIVING BEINGS and RESTRAINT

  • @filmfelineadmin how many trees were killed for all the accoutrements of Nichiren Budhism?

  • (Go)Honzon s are objects that signify an event. (the ceremony in the air.) They are not objects of worship. Certain groups fetish-ize the Honzon and call it an object of worship. Nichiren was very succinct: "never seek the Gohonzon outside of yourself." I prefer a little statue of Shakyamuni myself. Changing from a Nichikan Gohonzon to a statue was liberating for me. But enjoy the practice, and please don't talk about truth and "True Buddhism!"

  • That is one thing that different people of different faiths get hung up about. Protestants think that Catholics worship the icons, medallions & even rosaries of their faith. Some Moslems think that use of any image of a living thing or natural creation is a form of idolatry. They symbolize ideals that the people & symbols represent. I have images of Buddha in my apartment along with icons of the Virgin Mary & Jesus. Some people get put off by that. It will happen anywhere w / any faith.

  • knoxville, the reason people are so hung up about the trappings of others' religious practices is because freedom of religion has only existed for a few hundred years, while history is full of persecutions, inquisitions, crusades, jihads, & pogroms all carried out in the name of that elusive "one true religion". People who are indoctrinated to stamp out the "other" which was declared heresy or idolatry in some "holy" man's bad trip have made religion a cause of great suffering historically.

  • Buddhism, of any stripe, has oft been portrayed as EXTREMELY tolerant, even though some groups have more rules than others. I've been an interested " student " of Buddhism, w / ironically I learned about after formally joining the S. Baptist church, our particular congregation had a library of books dealing w / other religions. I have gained an understanding of other religions & philosophies that a lot of other Christians, particularly in the South, do not have.

  • ( cont'd ) & my understanding is that Buddhism, again of any stripe, started out as more of a philosophy than a new religion, hence, one could be a Catholic, Baptist, a Lutheran - w / would make my Lutheran pastor's head implode ! - without having to give up or renounce Christianity, Judaism, or POSSIBLY even Islam.

Baptists aren't really tolerant, but Lutherans are really closed - minded. My Lutheran pastor ( w / I was studying Catechism ) nearly FREAKED when he saw Buddha images in my place !

  • Chanting the daimoku, or mantra in this video brings about provable benefit in one's life, regardless of your other beliefs. Do not allow the ignorance or religious bias of others to obstruct your quest for enlightenment. You are obviously more open-minded than your pastor whose intolerance is based upon an erroneous belief in the absolute supremacy of his own religion.

  • I've tried it, & if nothing else, it can be emotionally fullfilling. I even printed out a copy of a Gohonzon out of curiousity ( Even though I have any number of statues / figurines of Buddha. ). Even for Christians who believe in a paradise beyond this life, seeking or acheiving enlightenment can quite possibly make one a better Christian, Jew or Moslem* ( * Not quite sure w / Moslems would think of that ! )

My pastor's a nice enough guy, just has a lot of conventional Lutheran ( cont'd. )

  • Clergy of any religion are unlikely to condone practices derived from other belief systems. While meditative traditions do exist within Christianity, the yogic [Hindu] and Buddhist practitioner is tasked with developing the entity of universal divine truth from within himself. The Abrahamic traditions [Judaism, Christianity, Islam] all claim there is one true God, and he is a distinct and separate all-powerful entity. Chanting immediately fuses the mind and spirit with the eternal Buddha.

  • Indeed. But the Catholic church is unusual in that it does. Some Protestant churches even have courses in the practices of other religions. I've read blogs & commentaries on said blogs about people who claim that they're " Zen Catholics " or " Buddhist Catholics ", because they employ certain Buddhist ideas within a Catholic / Sometimes Episcopal framework. Chanting, whether Buddhist, Hindu or Gregorian, can bring one closer to the Divine within or without of one's self.

  • ( cont'd ) programming to work with.

I don't know about Nichiren or Soka Gokkai, but the Catholic Church has studied Zen to the point where the Vatican has priests, monks & nuns who are certified Zen teachers.

try reading " The Empty Mirror " by Janwillem Van de Wettering. He was a Dutch guy who visited Japan in the late 50's - early 60's. The book has provided a fair amount of insight into Westerners & Buddhism. For that matter, read ANYTHING by C. Huston Smith. Invaluable.

  • Some branches of Christianity are more tolerant than others in allowing their members to meditate in eastern traditions. This is a very recent development historically, especially for the Catholic church noted for burning and torturing heretics, including Lutherans, in ages past. Most of your fundamentalist Christian churches will accuse you of worshipping the devil when you chant to the Buddha or Gohonzon. Find your own eternal true self and you will no longer worship an external "God".

  • Believe me, I know about Fundamentalists. They choose to be closed - minded & ignorant, so be it. The Catholic Church has become more open to some other influences in the last 20 years. Fundamentalists / Evangelicals see demons & devils in everything, & they're just chasing distorted shadows.

The " Exodus " to other faiths began in the 60's when Catholicism / Protestantism & Judaism showed themselves as TOO rigid. Younger people went to other "exotic" faiths or else became anostics / atheists.

  • What is truth? As long as we enjoy the chanting and keep chanting with faith, who cares! I'm not yet a member of the SGI, but I chant everyday and I also have a KwanYin at home. Does that matter?!

  • I do, however, expect a certain level of tolerance. Problems arise when individuals take it upon themselves to point out "truths" and "correct" paths. The beauty of free will is that we can take elements from various sources and create a philosophy that is right for us. (For example- other schools of Buddhism claim that meditation alone is the way to enlightenment. Who is to say they are right or wrong?)

  • LIFESKEY-

I was not scolding you and I apologize if I came across that way.

As an SGI member I am well aware of Nichiren's teachings. I posess the Gohonzon, chant daily and study the Lotus Sutra. I also have buddhist statues in my home because it brings a sense of peace and serenity to my environment. This is MY personal experience and I don't expect another Nichiren Buddhist to condone it.

  • Marilyn: Whether the creator of this vidio or you or anyone else chooses to pay any attention to what I have lerted you to and encouraged here is entirely up to yourselves.

Buddha says a true friend is one who is willing to go out on a limb to be honest even at the risk of being scolded etc. I have only tried to be a true friend to a fellow Buddhist in what I have said. Otherwise this is a beautiful video....

I have no more to say except I wish you wisdom, peace and happiness... :o))

  • The Gohonzon was created so that it wouldn't get misconstruded with other Buddhist practices... Inscribed specifically 4 all mankind by Nichiren Daishonin on 12th October 1279

The Gohonzon is the essence of Buddhism, and the embodiment of the Buddhahood within us. Chanting turns poison in2 medicine...The movie 'The Matrix' "I cannot show you the matrix you have to see it for yourself" Chanting 2 see proof without proof how could one continue...

  • You are so correct.I have been a member of the SGI for three years now.I think president Ikeda is fair and very intelligent in his mentoring.

  • Lifeskey-

What you state is fact- Nichiren did not want us worhiping statues. However, displaying Buddhist statues does not mean you worship a physical object. They are a representation of compassion, love and tranquility- everything that Nichiren himself represents.

This is a wonderful video. If we put faith in the LAW alone- then technically we do not need the Gohonzon either- a physical object much like a Buddhist statue.

Why don't we try embracing instead of critisizing?

  • Marilyn: Your conception of what I have stated appears to have run amoke.

Firstly: I was not criticizing, but defending the Buddha's wishes. There is nothing wrong with ornaments of Buddha's, depending on how you look at them of course, but it is definitely going directly against Nichiren's wishes to fade Gohonzon into a statue as has been done in this video.

If you are going to scold me for saying this then you are also scolding Nichiren - read the Gosho and see for yourself if I am wrong.

  • I suggest you read the Gosho & you will find what I have said here is correct. By doing what you have done here is a slander to the Gohonzon - Nichiren did NOT even want us to worship him.

That is why he enscribed the Gohonzon - so that we would get away from all the statues and things and put our faith in the LAW.

I hope you will soon rectify your mistake here and stop misleading people who may not be aware of this fact....

It's up to you... your future true happiness depends on it....

  • From what I understand Nichiren Daishonin made it very clear that we should "put our faith in the LAW and NOT in the person". He has included this in many of his Gosho.

This was his advent into this world - to chrystalize the LAW.

As beautiful as this video is, I think you are going directly against Nichiren's wishes by allowing the Gohonzon to transform into a picture of a Buddha. You are turning around Nichirens whole purpose for being here and misleading people to follow heretical teachings

  • Yes, and what a wonderful example to the world that Buddhists argue amonst each other online, some even calling the other "heretics". There are gohonzon images all over the net, even images of gohonzon inscribed by Nichiren, and nobody's head has exploded from posting them yet. There are numerous Buddhas symbolically represented on the gohonzon already, including Sakyamuni, so what is your problem? Be careful using the word "heresy" - it implies you are fanatical and intolerant.

  • irepelent I do not know why you sent me your complaint mate. I did not mention the word 'heresy' and I am not a fanatic nor intollerent. The only reason I said anything at all about the video was in good intentions. I have read Nichirens teachings and I know that he did NOT want us to think of the law as a person. Read his Gosho and he says over and over again that we should put our faith in the law and not in the person. Don't blame or condemn me for trying to remind people of this. Peace :o)

  • I THINK THIS Videto is good ...butt... he shoud not display the gahonzon on the net. ITS WRONG !!!! HE might as well put it on hes frount door and run thu the city naked.. its kie hes showing his inter bing to the world NOT GOOOD !! !!

  • ma te hai provato a recitare?no..allora prova e ne riparliamo ;-)

  • thanks, Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, the music that lifts my life .... what beautiful and creative videos I am finding, I am now very happy indeed for UTUBE!

  • Such a beautiful video this is. Was it not Nichiren that said, Chant with all your heart and soul and you shall seek peace and enlightened happiness through out your life. Since Aug. of last year I have been chanting but, not on a regular or daily basis as I should be.

Chanting has been a spiritual lift whenever the stresses of my family get me down or when I'm not having a good day I turn inward and chant. Chanting helps to raise my spiritual vibrations. Bless you! Nam Myoho Renge Kyo :)

  • my mum is a buddist my neice does that make me a buddist daughter lol

  • nam myoho renge kyo, from toronto canada.

  • Nam Myoho Renge Kyo - Kansas City, MO

  • Gracias amigo.... El Nam-myoho-renge-kyo es fantastico

  • In my opinion they are chanting way too fast. you can't understand what they are saying. It sounds like one long word. I learned how to chant 28 years ago. The rhythm should flow, but you should chant clear and crisp, with conviction.

  • The point is to enjoy it..

  • Nam-myoho-renge-kyo from Richardson, Texas USA

  • It sounds like they are starting off with

the word 'renge' instead of 'namo'..

or am I not hearing it correctly?

    Thanks...

  • fantastico :)

  • Fantastic...

  • Actual proof is needed. It would be an interesting experiment if u were 2 take it on. Imagine if what I say is true & after a few days of chanting, u saw benefit. Wonder if you'll respond I wonder if you'll do what Science would do. Science is based on tested proof or empirical evidence. U conduct a test or experiment & then observe results. Nothing beats actual proof. Your chanting 4 your life & the life of everything around u.

Showing such proof is the mark of a true successor.

  • NNam-myoho-renge-kyo from Odessa, Texas

  • Not showing the Gohonzon would be a selfish act, one born out of fear. It is an extremist act to want to protect it agains "the evil eye". Backward thinkers, and yet we have to move forward. Life's love and love is free. Free to feel, free to share. Sharing means to be connected to abundance that is omni-present. Gohonzon is nothing to be protective about. It is the thought that one clings to out of fear. Fear is the absence of LOVE.

  • the fear is love in embryo, the weather turns .... superstition is the dark that the light will fill ... everything is in the design along with the time

  • I agree with you. I like to boarden my mind by reading other books such Bhagavagitta, Bible, Koran etc. When when a member came to my house to see a Buddha's statue, he told me I am not allow to put those objects around. Needless to say, that was when I quit. But to be honest, I would know nothing about Buddhism if I didn't start here. Then I always asked myself why chant the title of the book and not to understand everything. I read the Lotus Sutra and became for interested Om Manipadmehm

  • I read that we have water, fruit & evergreen on our Alters 4 purity. But it's up 2 u what u have on your altar, some people who chant don't have anything on their Altar. What's on your Alter is always an offering 2 yourself anyway. It was wrong of this person 2 say such things 2 u. We are all different... I've experienced similar things with members... We all need 2 encourage one another. I feel encouragement isn't used enough. I'm really interested in the books you're reading?

  • I've only just begun to show a slight interest in this form of Buddhism. I get that some people are offended by a display of their religious material (Gohonzon). However, some of the comments here suggest that their religion is more important than those who practice it. This is disturbing to me, having been raised in a cult with the same views. I hope I am just misinterpreting the comments here.

  • Actually, what I have witnessed in this practice is that people are everything. No one is above the other. However, like practicing anything in life, there is a right way and a wrong way. In American there is hardly anything that is considered a "no-no" with the exception of videoing, photographing or improperly displaying of the Gohonzon. This is the equivalent of someone burning a bible or touching a Chasidic rabbi. We are not so much offended as we are hurt. I hope this helps.

  • not supposed to take photo of the Gohonzon!!

  • NON è VERO

  • Exactly! Some folks just don't get it. I saw one "member" wearing it around her neck, the bleepin bleep.

  • The Gohonzon is not supposed to be photographed or filmed. It is a sign of ultimate respect for this object of worhip.

  • **worship**

  • Fear - False experience appearing real. There is nothing to fear. The Mystic is pure and mostly unfathomably profound. Focus on the good that you know & seek. Love prevails - here & now fully present.

  • Hmm, take that Gohonzon out the video, I thought you can't take photos of it...

  • I must agree that I find the display of the Gohonzon here on YouTube inappropriate. Many that are not practicioners of our Buddhism will neither see the significance of the Gohonzon nor gain benefit from it. I also know of SGI members who have been offended by this what they see as disrespect attitude. Myself I think it a shame to spoil, otherwise good videos, with this unthoughtful tendency.

  • I'm sorry but I only read English or Thai. Perhaps you could find a translation ? Many thanks

NAM MIOJO RENGE KYO.

  • The most important thing is to create a life to life relationship with Nichiren Daishonin, whose great desire for the absolute happiness of all beings is embodied in the Gohonzon. It is through this relationship, which implies studying his teachings and practicing them to the best of one's ability within the context of our lives just as they are, that one is sure to reveal the same life condition as he did. It is the ultimate philosophy of hope and victory bequeathed to all humanity.

  • I have been practicing Buddhism with the SGI since 1983. I am not sure that it is appropriate to film the Gohonzon and spread that image on the internet. I think it is more important to ask oneself, "Is the action that I am taking true to the spirit of the founder...does it further the cause of kosen rufu and lead others to enlightenment or does it create confusion about the teachings of the Lotus Sutra and Nichiren Daishonin?" "The Gohonzon is found in faith alone," writes the Daishonin.

  • i was courious about that also. It seems customary now a days to see the gohonzon on you tube and other sites, is this apppropriate?

  • certainly ... This is an image of gohonzon speculate ... gohonzon is true that we must protect ... as an image in the mirror is not living

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,i gave our gohonzon to my former wife after our divorce a tradition and my karma has been notn to be able to get one.25 years we practiced my children are fortune baby's, our grand children are incredible..many who are objective are amazed by the most beautiful and witty madison, trevor's countenance pure smile anime eyes aura of love blessing me otherwise i rarley experience.i feel now that video or photo's of the gohonzon can not be disrespectful...thankyou....

  • Nam myoho renge kyo!

    Thank you for sharing!

    Namaste, love, love, love, love.........

è l'uomo...o meglio l'umano che si accinge a diventare uomo... siamo tutti fuori all'inizio...no? :-)

  • I love this video!

  • This is one of my favorite Daimoku videos. When I hear a foreign language sung, it makes me want to do extra daimoku.

  • si!

  • This video is so moving... I love the trippyness of it. The whole vibe brings out the mystical "OM" of the universe... Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.

    nam myho rengue kyo
