  • I had aftermarket pads on, still didn't fix the problem. It's long been sold though!

  • They all squeal. It's a Bembro brake thing not a jeep thing. Easily fixed by replacing with aftermarket pads. The cheaper the better. My autozone pads don't dust as bad or squeal.

  • holy crap!!! it sounds so much you punctured my ear drums and my speakers! haha

  • I am so glad I found this video. At first I thought my jeep's rear breaks needed to be changed. I got underneath the car to only find out the breaks are fine. I have this ungodly sound.

I found a forum regarding this squeak. However to fix this issue isn't as easy as I would have liked.

  • @abernard84 How do you fix it?

  • @cpowell786 I didn't. I sold it and bought a VW tiguan instead.

  • @cpowell786 This was from 2 years ago. If I remember correctly I think involved replacing a lot of parts. It had to do with some type of defect in the design. I would have to find the forum again. I calculated the prices and it was up over a thousand to fix it and that's doing it myself.

A few months after this post I continually developed new problems with the car. I eventually got fed up and bought something else. It was a shame though. I was a jeep girl through and through.

  • today spent $1038.00 on new red stuff brake pads and new rotors from the dodge dealer and its louder than ever. what the hell do i do?

  • Well, I fixed it....by selling the car. Traded it in for a 2003 Mustang Cobra Convertible with 8000 miles on it!

I have heard that the CTS-V Rear pads help on the Jeeps. Not sure what to tell you on the volvo tubemom.

  • I'm having the same problem with my Volvo. Were you able to get it fixed? If so, how?

  • If the car has drumbrakes the brakes are wet from the inside. If it are drumbrakes i dont wanna know what it is because discbrakes witch sound that mostly is bad.

  • One last work of advice. Try using WD-40 all over the callipers. Should get rid of the squeal. Also, reverse 15-20 mph and brake heavily. Repeat 2-3 times and that should also fix it. What ever works for you. Keep me posted on your results. Hope this helps.

  • Try washing away the brake dust with a power washer. Its quick fix but should work. When it starts to start up again, wash it. Its my indicator of when to wash my brakes. Also try new brake pads from Centric. Its the dust that's the main factor. Like I said, try that and if it doesn't work, change the pads. I've heard good results from that

  • Lots of aftermarket brake pads squeal or make noise, worse in certain applications. I would ONLY run OEM pads and don't just use that autoparts antisqueal paste/lube.

See if the dealer sells a tube of anti-squeal paste and if not look for ATE Plastilube online, buy a tube of it.

You'll have to "coat the hell" out of the back of the pads. Again, Aftermarket pads + regular autoparts store anti-squeal = you'll likely end up with those results as you have.

    Hope this helps, good luck!

  • I understand performance brakes squeal, but not like this. This is metal on metal grinding noise, it gives pedestrians and other drivers whiplash. It's not normal, I've had so many cars with high performance brakes, and none of them were like this.

  • Performance brakes have to go on a 400 hp giant suv dude, and performace brakes squeal!

  • pads and rotors were replaced at 15K miles ago. started squealing again after about 5k miles. At first, it was only during cold/damp weather, now it just wont stop. pulled pads out, scuffed them and the rotors, used some anti-seize on the back of the pads, and still nothing.

  • its called brake pads bro -.- doesnt have to do anything with the rotors
