i've always liked alot of bowie's popular music but decided i'm gonna listen to all his music starting with his first album. my guess is i won't be disappointed.
When I went to Birmingham from Holland by plane to see Roxy Music live in the LG Arena, I went to a real big music store (forgot the name), and bought David Bowie Deluxe Edition for 12 pounds. Awesome album, and the concert was awesome too :D
The song is based on the book There is a Happy Land, written by Keith Waterhouse. Most of the songs on that early "World of" album were based on books that Bowie was reading during that period. He was very inspired by British writers of the 50s.
David, Back to Basic!!

Hearing songs like this, When I'm Five, and songs like that, it makes me think that David understands kids perfectly.

I think no one could have played in The man who fell to earth better, he had that slight odd, confusing quality to him that you can't teach people

Since I was a mere snip of a lad in 1968 I have always loved this track.

In his early music career he seemed to be something of an expert on being the voice of the children (in more ways than one, LOL!)

This song has some of my favorite lyrics of any song by David Bowie.

"tony climbed a tree and fell, trying hard to touch the sky" takes me back to being a kid...... time moves too fast to enjoy.
