Momentarily, he comes across Sergeant Reznov this is the first time you see him too who also survived the massacre. You see Dimitri die a horrible death in the Nova Gas Chamber, If you just remembered who it was sorry for making you cry)

He made a good friend in there named Reznov, he found out about that chip so he sabotaged it by letting him go after Dragovich,Kravchenko and steiner. In the second to last mission Mason finds out Reznov's dead and he remembers where the Station is.Which you destroy in the last mission.
