A Beija-Flor realmente nao estava entre as favoritas para ganhar. Mas a partir desse ano viu-se uma escola onde uma comunidade faz toda a diferenca. Por isso levou o titulo (dividido com a Mangueira, eh bom relembrar). Selminha Sorriso ainda levou o estandarte de ouro de melhor porta-bandeira.
Desfile pavoroso! Uma das coisas mais horrendas que eu ja vi na avenida. Pesado, mal acabado, é muita pretensão dos torcedores acharem que essa porcaria pode, com justiça, ter tirado o título da Viradouro. Desfile constrangedor!
@TITOJORGE1 pavoroso é o despeito de alguns. O desfile da Beija-flor foi lindo com carros inesquecíveis. Um desfile com muita garra! E sem nenhum salto alto.
Este desfile foi mto especial pra Beija-Flor, foi o ano da reviravolta quando a escola de Nilópolis voltou a vencer na Marquês de Sapucaí depois de tantas injustiças. Foi um desfile estupendo e me sinto mto emocionado pois foi justamente homenageando o meu querido Estado do Pará.
Nunca senti no Carnaval uma emoção quanto neste desfile, parece q já pressentíamos aquele campeonato antes mesmo da escola iniciar o desfile. INESQUECÍVEL!!!
jorge lafond era um belo ator e um talento maravilhos que morreu em decorer de um preconceito feito pelo padre marcelo rossi no programa do gugu , pois ele não queria esta no palco junto com o jorge (ESSE GALADO E FULERO )mas e beija flor mostrou o seu talento . saudades dele
Yeah they both got a tie, but Mangueira was consider the "first" one of them 2, because in that time the President of the Samba Schools was the one that is now president from Mangueira, oviously he was gonna pronounce Mang. as first get me ? But he is not Mangueiras president anymore. He got out in Dec. 2007 because of some problems.
You'd have to admit Mangueira's "Chico Buarque de Mangueira" was very good though - the head of LIESA or not.
Still, I think Beija-Flor's enredo and samba was best (IMHO).
This is coming from someone who wasn't aware of samba and Carnaval in 1998 - I've no particular bias towards B-F. I know we're living through a 'B-F era'.
The story of the Caruanas is fascinating. The samba....memorising....
Ofcourse Im not saying that Mangueira was not good, they were both great. I remember Viradouro made one of the best ones on 1998 and they got 5th place.
But in Samba Beija-Flor, Viradouro and Mocidade has one of the best ones. Maybe Imperatriz also. But this song its very touching by Beija-Flor, it has a feeling that even makes you want to cry of it melody.

A most gorgeously sung samba - Neguinho and others. The bateria sounded excellent too. Essentially, the bateria was the best. The theme was brilliant too.

Esse samba é muito bonito.Aliás,de 98 até hoje a safra de 98 foi a melhor e acho muito difícil ter outra igual novamente,sequer melhor...
