  • Old fuzzball Waller Grointite used to stick his fragrant butt out bus windows and yell: "Ass burn, ass burn!"

  • Cronkite was wise and moral. I am proud to follow his example and Bill Moyers'. You who despise him have not studied the world situation and are in fact, afraid and ignorant. I have traveled the world alone (a female) and know its world citizens are good and deserve a life of adequate necessities. But if you choose to live in paranoia, you'll live a miserable existence.

  • Dickhead? ...So says hydroknight, the twenty-year old white supremacist emo-kid from texas with zoophilic tendencies..

I know it must be upsetting to you...Living a lie all these years, believing in that which doesn't exist...You've known the truth, but as the herd surges forward, you have no where to go.

Confused, you channel your angst into white supremacy causes, babbling on about your white brothers and 'Jew scum'.

You are walking a fine line with your race-hatred. Careful, kid.

  • He is sitting on the left hand of Satan so he says. Search it. that's what the commie bastard said.

  • That Commie Bastard died 40 years too late!

  • RIP

  • I think Walter Cronkite was a homosexual. He had no wife. He lived with a guy for years. There were rumors that when they passed the gay marriage law in California, he and his partner had a private wedding in their house. This is based on several news reports from different sources.

  • WHAT??? The man was married for over 60 years, and had 3 kids. Did you make this stuff up, or something?

  • Look it up genius. It's all out there.

  • I, too, used to think Cronkite was trustworthy and unbiased, that Kennedy was a great president and Nixon was terrible. I thought that because that was the only view presented in the media.

Things started changing when other points of view were allowed on the airwaves starting in 1988 with Rush Limbaugh. When I heard Cronkite endorsed the liberal bastard Bill Clinton, I realized I had been bamboozled all those years. Cronkite wasn't trustworthy. He was nothing but a liberal puke.

  • Ah yes. Those were the days when we had only one political party running things and only one political view reported on. Nothing was ever questioned. Liberalism was the accepted way by default. Hmm. Come to think of it, not a lot different than the Soviet Union.

Thank GOD we have opposing voices on talk radio to counteract the leftwing disinformation. Rush Limbaugh is more important than Cronkite ever was.

  • And you sir win the title for most ignorant post on this forum. Walter Cronkite was a hell of a human being than Rush could ever pretend to be.

  • Cronkite turned out to be just another shill for the liberals. Nothing great about that. Limbaugh is out there telling the truth every day. He was the first to claim global warmning was the hoax that it turned out to be.

  • Walter was an icon. If the music died with Buddy Holly, then the news died with Walter Cronkite. RIP...."tranquility base,..the Eagle has landed"

  • May he R.I.P!!!!!

  • He was good in Grumpy Old Men and The Odd Couple. John Lennon is waiting for him in Heaven.

  • He was on the Mary Tyler Moore show.

  • Very funny episode! It was done in one take.

  • John Lennon was practically an atheist. You think he's in Heaven???

  • Is that where you think you're going?

  • Comment removed

  • No, I don't "think" it, baby. I KNOW that's where I'm going. I believe in God. I don't say crap like he did, the Beatles being "bigger" than Jesus.

  • You don't know that you're going to heaven any more than a suicide bomber knows he's going to paradise after screaming 'allah ahkbar' before blowing himself up.

    1. If God is omnipotent, then he has the power to prevent evil.

    2. If God is omnibenevolvent (all good), then he has the will to prevent evil.

    3. Evil exists.

    4. Therefore, either God is not omnipotent or he is not omnibenevolent.

    5. But by definition God is omnipotent AND omnibenevolent.

    6. Therefore, there is no God.

  • Well, we know where you're headed. Oh, I know I'm going to Heaven, and your stupid opinions don't change that fact. I don't want to hear your atheistic bullcrap. It's not the world's fault you have a problem with God.

  • None of the miraculous cures in Lourdes, France, require the existence of a God to explain them; the "cures" are always for diseases that may have got better by themselves.

When someone prays and prays for a miraculous cancer cure, and they get better through medicine, it's attributed to God. He answered their prayers?

But, I ask you, why doesn't God heal amputees? In the history of the world, nary a finger has ever grown back, despite, undoubtedly, huge amounts of prayer. Interesting.

  • ..But to continue on about Walter.

Please, tell me what there is to celebrate?

More than half of the generation that even knew who the hell he was is either in the ground, in an urn, or in a fucking nursing home somewhere. So why is it such a big deal? Because the media makes it so.

You don't give a shit about Walter, Farrah, MJ, or whoever. It's called pseudo-mourning. People give false condolences and act all sad to make themselves feel better and appear politically correct. Tiresome.

  • Well said. A couple of weeks ago, CNN had this 20-something woman in Harlem blubbering over MJ's death. OK, Jackson hadn't done anything in 25 years except boink little kids, so this sobbing chick couldn't have remembered him from her youth. Rather, she was told by the media that MJ was the biggest story ever, and that as a black woman, she should be as distraught as if she'd lost a family member. If the loss of a performer sincerely caused a reaction like that, she's mentally unstable.

  • People had that same reaction when Elvis passed away, so it's happened before.

  • I am from that generation that knew him, and I'm NOT dead. Talk what you know. You can't tell people how to grieve. There are people who are sincerely hurt by the passing of these people.

  • OK, so you're in the other fifty percent. Your number is probably close to being up.

Sincerely hurt? Doubtful. Over-sentimental maudlins? Probably.

  • Why do you care to begin with?

  • No, he wasn't right about Viet Nam. It was ours to win or lose after the victory at Tet. He did everything he could to make sure we lost it.

As far as I'm concerned, when we are at war, when our soldiers lives are on the line, any journalist who works to undermine our countries morale should be strung from lamposts.

    I piss on this creep.

  • Thank you, I wish more people could see these 'celebrities' for what they really are (were).

  • God bless him!

  • I want to assrape his corpse while its still warm.

  • RIP from the UK.

  • Walter Cronkite was hired to report the news without bias. Instead he supported the Communists who killed American troops in Vietnam.

  • I remember him saying Oswald acted alone...

  • Cronkite on Larry King October 04: "And I have a feeling that it could tilt the election a bit. In fact, I'm a little inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, that he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."

Cronkite was an idiot. An 'alex jones' style of nutcase.

  • Please tell me we don't have to listen to fucking tributes to this guy for a week too?

What is wrong with this society? All this idolatry, this celebrity worship! One dies, and it's a national event anymore!

I say, WHO GIVES A FUCK! Hundreds of thousands die everyday, what makes this old fucker so special? He was a reporter? Big deal. He lived a privledged life, one that 99% of people could only dream of. Just like MJ. And so on. Absolutely fucking sickening.

  • Though i humbly disagree with your perception of walter cronkite, i do agree with your point of celebrity worship! I watched people in tears over mj, are your friggen serious? I do find it ironic though that as we worship the exremely wealthy and the assest they cherish, we hope they tax the fuck out of a rich man as long as im not the rich man getting taxed! I did admire cronkite but believe he was a product of a priveledged life and really could care less that he wanted a 1 world government.

  • So, nobody who makes a commited and responsible contribution to this country and world should be remembered?

What's wrong with this society? Well, people like you who have no respect for cultural milestones comes to mind.

And, PS-if you equate MJ with Cronkite you are the biggest media illusioned boob to comment here.

  • He contributed nothing, so you're disillusioned. (yes, that's the proper usage of disillusioned, I think that's what you meant, no?) He was a glorified Bill O'Reilly.

There's a difference between simply being remembered and having a massive media shitstorm every time someone of even modest stature kicks it.

The huge outpouring of condolences, displays of grief toward these 'idols'. Farrah. MJ. McMahon. Cronkite. Think they gave two shits about the public? They were all about themselves.

  • Comparing Cronkite with the media celebrities you mention is obtuse and ignorant. All of them were entertainers. Not world respected journalists. The idea that Cronkite was a self-promoting entity is dubious at best-he was a reporter-one who wrote his own copy and subscribed little to party lines. O'Reilly is certainly a media celebrity-Cronkite was known and respected because he delivered the news nightly to the majority of this nation.

  • Since the tributes bother you, why read or listen to them? I'd avoid them.

  • Are you for real? It's not like anyone who is even moderately connected to any form of media can avoid them. Again, they're just ratings grabs that feed on, well, folks like yourself.

According to your logic, anyone with a dislike of skin cancer should permanently stay out of the sun. And someone who hates beer shouldn't go to a club for fear of actually seeing a pint.

It's maudlins like you who encourage the networks to beatify these controversial figures..Only the boomers gave a fuck.

  • So, you can't turn off the tv, and you have to look at Cronkite videos on YouTube? The media has that kind of control over you? I'm not a boomer, and I give a f*ck.

  • Just answer the question! Why doesn't 'God' heal amputees? Obviously, since Christians want to attribute miracles of healing to 'God', it's a valid question. He cures cancer, he parts seas, he impregnates immaculately, but he's never, in the history of the world, made an appendage grow back? Come on.

My stupid opinions? Hah, if anything is stupid, it's believing in a magical man in the clouds...

Let's pretend for a second that your 'God' exists. What makes you so sure he even likes humans?

  • You're an ASS...

  • Such a class act. Rest in peace.

  • Cronkite was one of the best news reporters, of all times, a icon that reported 100% Truth with dignity, regardless of what factions liked it or not, this is what makes a great news person.

  • cronkite was the first openly left wing journalist. Many think he lost vietnam for the US. True,he may have been a good speaker, but like obama, his policies hurt America

  • But he was right about vietnam.. it was not planned right and it was overall a stalemate.

  • rest in peace

  • I am very glad to see that the majority of you do respect him. He reported the "real" news in WW11 and tried to do the same throughout his career. He was obviously highly respected throughout his life or he wouldn't be in the news now. He is gone, please let all of us show some respect, it really will not hurt you.

  • Ironic that one who use to report the news is now making the news.

  • That's the problem--news readers are now thinking they are news MAKERS. They just read the news for hells sake!

  • Walter Cronkite was a New World Order hack.

  • And of course I suppose you got evidence for that?

  • He lived a nice long life and left behind a legacy that will never be matched. He was a great American who did his job every day with honor and integrity (something that doesn't exist in today's "news") and I salute him on this day.

  • souls are saden

  • trully a terrible loss to the world

  • May Walter Cronkite rest in peace. Cronkite IS THE journalist to beat. Not Rather, not others, but he was the best and supremely undervalued. What a brilliant and loving man.

  • Cronkite didn't report the news. He reported parts of it that supported his agenda. This has led to the 'advocacy journalism' of today, where a station, network or newspaper only reports stories inline with it's political goals. Our representative democracy needs if not an educated public than at least an honest debate. This does not exist in America today.

  • You're right! When he started he was the best, but in the 60's he began to think that he was so incredibly powerful that his celebrity made him a newsmaker, not just a reporter. Like all Libs, he believed he was superhuman.

He is now the prototype for all the egotistical freaks in the news business-- Williams, Couric, Lehrer, who all aspire to be superhumans, like the fatuous Cronkite.

They're nothing but script readers for hell's sake.

  • Let me guess, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly are real journalists, right? Foolish wingnut. LOL

  • Anything that ain't fox is slanted I guess.

  • And that's the way I slant it. Goodnight

  • It struck me that, for those of us who were adults at the time, it never would have occurred to us to try and classify him as 'liberal' or 'conservative'. He was simply one of the finest newsmen telling us what, where, when, and how - without adding a political agenda to the news. It wasn't entertainment then; it was straight news that democratic nations require to have an informed citizenry.

  • Didn't always agree with his politics, but he was, nonetheless, an American icon who did great credit to many of the nation's most unforgettable moments. Unlike today's anchor-"experts" who feel the need to complete the news with their ingenious commentary, he managed to keep his personal views out of his journalism during his active years with CBS and really was one of the greats.

  • Welcome to hell POS

  • You are a very sick, mentally insane person. Seek help.

  • I'm sure that you can both recommend a couple of doctors and share with me some of the pills from your cabinet, right junior.
