  • i'm pretty sure this is the best song ever written.

  • I don't care if the songs aren't as good anymore, I'd rather Rivers be happy. That man is dead in the eyes in this video.

  • FUCK! that tone on his guitar is clean as fuck!

  • He needs to get depressed again.

  • I say this is best Weezer song ever

  • i saw this concert on Padilla, but it was edited to hell. anyone know where i can obtain the DVD

  • @weepingmarshmallow

Weezer IS amazing and your clearly not a Weezer fan if you say that Rivers is a douchebag.

  • @tommyleepwns Weezer WAS amazing. Also, its you're, not your

  • @tommyleepwns Rivers is the soul of Weezer

  • weezer were amazing, but rivers is a douchebag.

  • omg! that sticker on rivers' guitar says "white people" in thai

  • 98' make my heart bleed.love is in the air.thank you =w= for the song!

  • Why is this the only version on the enternet acording to my ipad

  • @rastaR00STER because im the man and uploaded it for all you girls

  • Comment removed

  • what year was this?

  • @ThreeCrowns It was the Make Believe tour, so around 2005 or 2006.

  • I love the drum part at 2:56

  • mtv was cool once?

  • fantastic live version.

  • Pinkerton had such a huge impact on my life that I would support Weezer even if they added Lil Wayne as a permanent member.

  • Either Rivers is getting too old, or he spent too many late nights staying up drinking sake on this trip. His eyes are so baggy he looks like Palpatine. Either way this song is amazing. 5 stars. Been a fan from day 1

  • Rivers should be a depressed guy again, to write songs like these.

  • 6 unlikes!? really? WTF

  • you see ma, im a good little boy...(good little boy..) its all your fault, MAMA ITS ALL YOUR FFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLTTTTTT!!

  • @XxRockhopperxX i didnt write this my brother did. that makes no sense what he wrote

  • whoever told rivers pinkerton was shit should be shot for being so very wrong

  • Phenomenal!

  • fuck you scott shriner

  • i saw this concert on palladia. i wish the video of him and yamiko chan was on youtube :(

    so good

  • This is basically the greatest thing i have ever seen.

  • What's with the 6 "dislikes"?

  • @pinkertoy you mean 7... jk

  • this kind of song is why i love them

  • Rivers seems so out of it in this entire concert...i saw it on T.V. once. I wonder what was going on

  • @CutePuertoRicanChick hes playing with emotion what you want him to be going all over the place like he does now this was weezer at their best

  • @marioruiz15 I saw the concert, throughout the entire thing he seemed distant like he had something on his mind. I'm not knocking his performance, Weezer is one of my favorite bands I just think something may have happened to him on the day of this concert

  • @CutePuertoRicanChick what are you talking about he looked like he was having a good time throughout the whole concert especially during island in the sun and undone

  • It'd be ironic if the girl who wrote the letter was in the crowd that night.

  • @Jamekae Nah dawg that's coincidence. Irony is the opposite of what you expect.

  • @Inacatsuit It's ironic because in Across the Sea he's singing about the great distance between them when she could very well be a few meters away from him.

  • jeez saw these guys the other night in boston.i have never heard a better song than this one live

  • Best Weezer Song.

  • When Rivers plays that Gbmaj7, I get chills every time.

  • Best Weezer song to date, from one of the best albums of all time. They for sure don't write songs like this anymore.

  • gangster kats

  • What ever happened to this weezer?

  • @bahajala They are probably just waking up after playing Only In Dreams, You Gave Your Love To Me Softly, Susanne and the entirety of Pinkerton 12 hours ago.

  • @Jamekae Lucky you.

  • @bahajala matt left, thats what happened. i love hurley though, but i need one more album with matt

  • @mattp772 happens to me everytime at that point

  • damn what happened to this drummer? is it the same guy from 1996? the whole beauty of this song was the syncopated, wild drumming. here he plays hyperactivly, like he has a gun to his head. does he do coke or anything?

very very weak performance, due to insensitive drumming

  • This crowd are so appreciative, it's awesome.

  • To everyone seeing them on the Memories Tour: Fuck you, you lucky sons of bitches...

  • @TurrianAgent sorry... :D

  • in November of the year 2010, i will be seeing this song live. MEMORIES TOURRRR

  • After the show, Rivers fucked every single Japanese girl in the audience. At once.

  • @Freepablo Don't you mean, "during the show?"

  • Could anything be more beautiful than the chord at 0:19 ?

  • @swagar It's a G major7 chord, and yes, it's a gorgeous chord. :)

  • @maroonhero Gbmaj7 technically, but yeah.

  • Pinkerton is a masterpiece. Too bad they don't make music like this anymore...

  • I wonder if Rivers was thinking about the girl in the song when he sang it. haha.

  • come on, if you can tour in japan you can tour in australia

  • Memories Tour!

  • amazing live version, really

  • chills around 3:41

  • This is one of the best concerts, every song from this one is awesome!

  • this is weezer in their prime i dont think people are ever gona get live shows like this from weezer again lucky ass fans must of been the best concert they ever went to

  • @marioruiz15 they are talking about touring for pinkerton deluxe soon.

  • @TheRaindrops dude, just heard there playing a blue AND pinkerton tour

  • @TheThebeatles1994 yeah the info came right after, that's totally insane, i went crazy when rivers said this, i'll be going to at least one show for sure and jizz in my pants when they'll play only in dreams

  • @TheRaindrops lol me too

  • Comment removed

  • this is my favorite Weezer song, if anyone else has any live videos of them playing it (this seems to be the only one!) please upload!

  • There are 4 deaf people watching this video

  • I kind of like how he just stands in one spot all the way through.

  • I've got your letter....you've got my song..

  • One of my favorite songs, I haven't seen too many live videos of this song that are this could of quality. Nice!

  • One of the best live performances I've seen of them. Rivers with an SG=incredible.

  • Best weezer song in my opinion. Beatiful and desperate. I hope Rivers life is miserable again so we can have another Pinkerton.

  • @angmarcos1 Lmaao. That has to be the meanest thing I've ever heard. But soo true.

  • @angmarcos1 i always think the same thing, tho it is soo terrible to say

  • I'm reading all of these comments about Rivers not looking enthusiastic. You're right, he doesn't. But he looks so darn cute! He looks appropriately geeky and nervous and endearing.

Like a nerd in high school.

  • this is the godamn song. this is the shit.

  • This is the best and my favorite Weezer song in all their discography!

  • This is by far the best Weezer song.

  • Is Pat wearing "Van Halen stripe" socks? Wear can I get a pair of those?

  • This song makes me so sad yet happy at the same time, it's such a great song! Weezer, you never cease to amaze me with your excellence!!! :D

  • rivers looks like he's on crack lol

  • I like Weezer as much as the next person, but Rivers is not a very enthusiastic front man.

  • @tiener44 he isn't enthusiastic about Pinkerton songs. Go look up a recent performance of a new song. He jumps all around. And I much prefer his reservation, if it accompanies a great song.

  • Why can't they write songs like this anymore?!

  • @matzamafia Because rivers was 26 years old and depressed when he wrote it, he just isn't at that point in his life anymore.

  • @matzamafia the red album was great

  • @matzamafia

Rivers wrote Pinkerton when he was in a Dark Place.. He's married and has a kid now, his life is good. So the music he wrote changed. Weezer today isn't bad, it's different. Those dark songs were so emotionally powered and something Weezer fans found comfort in listening too. Last couple albums had emotional songs, just not as many... even Raditude, which everyone hated. Have you heard "Put Me Back Together"?

  • @SeanielRogs27 So true man. God bless Rivers

  • @matzamafia Because When it was released it was a financial and critical failure and most told him it was shit even though he put his heart and soul into it, effectively ripping his heart out from his chest and stomping on while singing a shitty rendition of "The Good life".......Plus Matt Sharp left. I really don't blame Rivers for not making another Pinkerton and making disposable ear candy instead, that gets stuck in your head for two days and then completely forgotten.

  • @matzamafia

'cause Matt Sharp left after Pinkerton.

  • @matzamafia cause rivers is not depresive guy more...

  • @matzamafia thats band evolution man, and thats what it makes a band good.

  • Jeez Rivers, try to look less enthusiastic.

  • Why are yooou so far awaaaaay frooom meeee??

    Magic!

  • wow i bet the japanese girls loved this one!! it's like speaking right to them. such a good song and so poignant. pinkerton <3

  • I wonder if she was in the crowd.

  • Can someone tell me what's the name of the tune over the opening credits please?

  • @tigerbright22 Island In The Sun...

  • Thank you

  • @tigerbright22 Island in the Sun

  • @fisch690 Ta

  • it opens with island in the sun

  • @MuhammadAlSayed Ha that's three folks who've answered! Thanks, man

  • this whole concert has been playing on the channel Palladia these days. It's called "Across the Sea: Weezer Live in Japan". Anyone know of any other vids of this show online?

  • Who knew something this great could have come out of something as awful as Make Believe.

  • That song isn't from Make Believe.

  • Ummmm this is from Pinkerton.

  • @MyRamona I meant that this is from the Make Belive tour,

  • This is from Pinkerton (1996)

  • one word, amazing.

  • this performance is perfect. not a note missed.

  • Comment removed

  • @4331160626 damn man, tell me how you really feel

  • You're forgetting the fact that Rivers was more of a "douche" back then-- he was extremely controlling and uptight during the Pinkerton era (I'm not dissing him or anything, but it's true), and nowadays he just wants to have fun with his music. How can you call someone like that douche? Just because he doesn't want bring himself to dark places and write depressing songs anymore? He poured out his soul once, and people tore him to shreds for it. Be happy he made the album in the first place.

  • I agree except for Green Album. That one is still good. But after that, pretty bad.

  • This is an amazing performance.

  • It's just not the same seeing scott on bass playing this instead of Matt, early weezer, the rentals and his solo worok and bass work with tegan and sara only show what a genius Matt is.

  • Matt Sharp FOREVER!!!!!

  • Weezer's pinkerton remains one of the greatest albums of ALL time. Flawless... up there with Dookie by Green Day and Diary by Sunny Day Real Estate

  • @etbroome Up there with Dookie? LOL GD sucks, always have always will :D

  • @MetroidMofo69 hhhahaha. i was thinking the same thing when i read that. what a moron.

  • @etbroome Wow. Thats all I've been listening to for the past couple months....

  • @etbroome agreed on everything but Dookie

  • no kidding!

  • miyachan got my vote for euro fo the year cos of this video

  • how sentimental voice it is!

  • Is Rivers using an Epiphone or an Gibson? It looks more like the Epiphone G-400, but would he really pick an Epiphone over a Gibson for a live concert?

  • @LPfanatic102 I've seen him use Epiphone's live (I think), so it's entirely possible.

  • He's using a Gibson here.

  • i saw this on Paladia in really high definition and in this particular performance, it is definitely a gibson.

  • my favourite song maaaan

  • idt anyone knows how much influence matt had, but its mostly rivers, he writes most of the songs... most, pat and brian ands cott write soem cool songs, like king, uh why bother and automatic are really good, scott wrote cold dark world and king i think

  • i wonder how different weezer would sound if matt was still in the band,,,,not saying that they sound bad now or anything...but i think matt had a strong influence on them...

  • they do sound bad no....Matt had litally no imput in the band...in those days Rivers was 100% in control...matt just brought them some energy and was a distractin bitch imo

  • i love this song. top 5 weezer for sure

  • pinkerton is their best album

  • i don't think i can die happy unless i see them do this one live. i leave their concerts just a tiny bit sad cuz they never do it! ;(

  • this is one of their best songs

  • Matt should be up there playing.

  • except matt bitched out

  • i really like their old stuff their new stuf isnt as good... a good fan is a fan that can cririzsie

  • smart words.

  • one of the saddest songs i've ever heard, but also one of the best.

  • @LordDuketheBaron you miss the undercurrent - about being a famous rock star who could fuck an 18 year old japanese school girl (18 - i bet they wanted to make it younger originally) but knows "it would be wrong" but then goes on to fantasise in detail about licking and sniffing "her envelope" (obviously a hint at her pussy) and how she touches herself.

    So, it's pretty dark.

  • reminds me of drain you by nirvana

  • How exactly? It sounds nothing like it.

  • the part that goes "YOu are 18 year old girl who live in small city in japan" compared to the opening line of nirvanas drain you

  • I don't know why people thumb's downed this, Rivers is a huge Nirvana fan, not exactly the same chords, but maybe the guitar tone is similar. Either way, it's a well-written tune and I love the crazy breakdown and chord changes mixed with the sweet solos. Now where the hell have those gone!? Rivers, I demand better solos and songs that aren't top 40 disposable waste

  • dude... listen to the songs on the albums that arent signles, the fucking solo to trippin down the freeway is awesome uh get me some is awesome, weezer is awsome,w as awesome and always will fucking be awesome damnit!!

  • Trippin' down the Freeway is amazing. But Pat did the solo for that one. Rivers needs to love his guitar again. He's capable of some great solos

  • @PrFTW While it's true that Pat played the solo, it was Rivers who wrote it.

  • reminds me of how you're a fucking retard

  • yo bro hows tony, uki and oregon? they good?

  • pinkerton ..my fav weezer album.

  • my favorite song
