guys its easy hes been accidently programmed as a guard so all you need to do is wait until about 9pm where he wont be around then go to the cities where have bounties (check this is summaries crime) then just get arrested by the guards there. Once the bounties are gone he shouldn't follow you. This glitch usaully happens after you have finished the dark brotherhood missions or made a big crime spree. Hope this helps guys :)

@flashbang8 dude, there is probably no way to use console on a console, so i don't have any much solutions in your case, have you tried to kill him? or picked him and said him to stay on a very far place? like tell him that you want him to do something then tell him to wait near a mountain or a waterfall then you run like crazy, and when he lose you from sight, i think he will head back to where you told him to stay, well at least for a time.
@flashbang8 this aint a fix but i found a way to stop it until they see you next ... when they talk to u press O to get out the convo, then before he puts his weapon away use SELECT to wait. (just wait an hour) they naff off for a bit but makes u free till they see you next .. hope it helps. if u go outside and do this when u wait they go in side and wait till u re-enter!!!
@flashbang8 What you have to do is pay off all your bounties in all the holds. Pause, look in the "crime" section and see what holds you have a bounty in.
i have this as well do you know how hard it was for a fu**ing assassin to do the trial quest with him following you and getting you deteced 24/7..... and he does fight and as im fighting he tries to talk to you so you always turn to face him and have like 3 guys to your back trying to kill you well lets just say my bow skill have increased alot haha but its still annoying

@TheDiivZe The fix is to pay off your bounty where ever you have it. If you have bounty in Markarth however, and they wont arrest you do to the forsaken glitch, you can find a video on here to fix that as well. Don't depend on the devs to do everything for ya ;)

I had this same glitch and there is a fix to it without having to reload a previous save. Farkas and Vilkas for some reason were programmed to be like guards but they don't have the option to arrest you. If he keeps doing that it means you have a bounty somewhere(the bounty doesn't have to be in Whiterun). Find out where you have a bounty and get rid of it. Once you do that he'll leave you alone.

just use the mouse scroll. if you are on console, i'm sorry to say but you are really dumb to buy a console-base game on a platform that wasn't made for modding. i can fix all my skyrim/fallout/deus-ex/witcher by opening the console or using mods. a pc gamer life is much easier if you know how to use your advantages properly.

you must pay your bunty, first of, know where you have a bounty, then search for the id of the faction you have the bounty with, when you finished doing this, jut follow the same steps as i told @FreakingVermillion and you will be just fine.
well in case that doesn't work out, you will have to use the addquote command which i don't remember right know, sorry, but i think is it's something like;
@TNxLaZyNinjaZz by quote i'm dialogue options which can be selected in the chat box. if you add the right quote you will free yourself of a great problem. it worked for me when i got the Thieves Guild "you are starting to make waves out there" bug.
@Antoine43 too bad, because (i'm not sure) you can't use the console on consoles, i've already fixed the problem by using the console to clear my bounty in Markarth.

@Antoine43 too bad, because (i'm not sure) you can't use the console on consoles, i've already fixed the problem by using the console to clear my bounty in Markarth.

@Olliek94 yeh i have a problem with Farkas and Vikas so when I go to the companions to do quest I get trapped by both of the talking to me.
