  • holy shit, that was amazing

  • why would someone dislike this any ways? it's so beautiful

  • Thumbs up for the Elora Quarry!

  • so full for only 5 winds!

  • cool sound

  • Are they all using Yamaha Customs for their mouthpieces?

  • I love brass, even though is it not a common sight at all here in perpendicular Sweden.

  • Das ist ein phantastisches Video-Arrangement. Von der Musik mal abgesehen. einfach gut.

  • a beautiful piece of music

  • Chuck's glasses are really dark at the beginning of the piece, but later towards the end, they become clear.... just something I noticed

  • it's wierd how the trumpet players both have the same unusual eye color

  • Chuck's glass mouth piece is really, really cool... but i wouldn't want my french horn to be see through

  • The people that disliked this are ones who can't play their instruments correctly. Just saying.

  • @Rollydamaster There really isnt a "correct" way to play their instruments. People have different theories on EX: "whats the best vibrato method for trombone, slide or jaw?" Maybe u should reword it to "excellently"

  • @XxSpiffxX That greatly depends on the song. You use the slide if you need significant vibrato , and your "jaw" if it needs to be less than significant.

  • beautiful. i want to try this with my band

  • 2:01 - 2:08 was a very beautiful moment to me...I dunno.. I saw his ring and assumed wedding ring, but i doubt that.

  • Beautiful

  • Where is their version of O Canada?!

  • the trombone part has some of the most out of place notes ever created...yet it works

  • ogni volta che ascolto questo brano mi commuovo e il mio cuore è un turpidio di passione

    grazie brass

  • Is that the same YCB-621 that Mr. Dallenbach always plays on?

  • Can they all play each instrument well?

  • @GodsGirl4Ever13 it says at the end it was filmed at Elora Rock Quarry, Elora Ontario.

  • very good

  • WHERE IS THIS FILMED? It's incredible!

  • I love Canadan Music players

  • @dozck NOPE

    Chuck Testa

  • Simplesmente divinal...

  • Such a great ensemble.

  • @lexy321321 Yep. It's a Kelly Mouthpiece in the "Crystal Clear" color

  • DONT FALL!

  • Does the tuba player have a plastic mouthpiece? :D

  • Holy. Shit.

  • What the hell ??? 1:49

  • @supa1kat Its in the music

  • this brought me to tears the first three times i heard it. reminded me of how much i miss my dad. makes me think of maurice murphy as well...

  • This had to be the most beautiful piece of music, That i've haven't heard in a long, thank you Canadian Brass =]

  • This piece is magnificent. The calm serenity of the lake along with the hill really emphasizes the song's beautiful nature. This song is definitely something I'd like to play with my buddies.

  • 3 brass players have got broken mouthpieces. ;)

  • @sdjnwhyNZ They aren't brass players, they play percussion

  • lo mejor que puedo escuchar¡

    :)

  • 1:49 false???!

  • The things you can do in the Elora Quarry

  • The birds are applauding them

  • For this video, instead of HD video quality, they should make it HD audio quality.

  • I love instrumental songs, such like this one!! :)

  • 1:17 Kelly mouthpiece :)

  • @MrGuitar144 haha i saw that i think he is using a kelly mouthpiece because its outside and obviously they did an audio over this video lol

  • My Band teacher told us (my grades band class) to look this up if we wanted to. So obviously I did and then I was greeted immediately by a beautiful sound. (I kind of wonder if he will see my comment.)

  • Michael's rejoicing tears are falling at 3:25

  • I can keep replaying this and never ever get sick of this

  • anyone know where this was filmed?

  • You can definitely order a standard quintet version in their store under Canadian Brass Ensembles, Contemporary Single Quintet titles

  • What Yamaha trumpet do they have? I'm pretty sure it be yamaha

  • not only do they have superb playing ability but apparently they can teleport all over the place while they play. truly magical!

  • @MusicBeSweetYo and not a break in the sound...holy crap they are good!

  • LOVE IT

  • I love how the trumpets sound exactly the same. It's so amazing.

  • crazy good!

  • Oh Jeff...you look so hot next to that rock...

  • Is that B.J. Novak on trumpet?

  • so la ven tua na vez so spirinor

  • they are so great

  • Is it just me, but does the tuba have a clear plastic mouthpiece?

  • @shihjayang it's a kelly by the looks of it, so yes. it is clear. mine is green.

  • @shihjayang

Yes, and they are nasty if you ever have the opportunity to see one being used up close you will agree.

  • @deurerdan

I agree! I'm going to one of their concerts this November. It's gonna be awesomeee

  • listening this every day :)

  • all of your instruments are gold plated?

  • @venskus2009 I think it's just regular brass

  • @venskus2009

Yes the instruments are gold plated. They used to play on Yamaha but now are on Bach and Conn instruments, still gold plated

  • @canadianbrass sounds fantastic. thanks a lot.

  • @canadianbrass Ewww bach and conn :(

  • @XxSpiffxX You're kidding right? Conn makes the best sousaphone ever. If they can make sousaphones sound good what makes you think they can't make good concert instruments?

  • @MrGuitar144 Lol i think this could be a location argument. In the U.S, we dont think conn and bach are that great of brands. I'm a bass trombonist with an Edwards. I would say like 80% of professional bass trombonist use Edwards.

  • @XxSpiffxX Well I'm in the U.S too and I LOVE my Conn 20k sousa. Maybe it's just personal preference.

  • Comment removed

  • @supa1kat well supa1kat, if u had to read my other msg's i wasn't talking about trumpets. I was talking about bass trombones. Gtfo

  • @canadianbrass how come u switch to Bach and Conn?

  • @xXChineseBoiXx Yamaha is a cheap brand. They work but don't have the best sound. Bach and Conn's have better sound and such a great ensemble deserves the best instruments

  • @LightningDragon1999 i would say yamaha is cheap, i played on a bach and yamaha cant really tell the difference yet. xD buy i want to buy a bach

  • @xXChineseBoiXx once they get older and you get better, you will notice a difference. That happened to me with pianos, my teacher has a Yamaha and i have an Essex, guess what sounds better.

  • @LightningDragon1999 i like bach over conn for mainly my bass trombone and tuba but yamaha is better for high school and college

  • @canadianbrass does it make that big of a difference?

  • @canadianbrass Can you guys tell me what kind of mouthpieces the Trumpet players are using?

  • @canadianbrass dont forget willson one of the best producers of tubas and Euphoniums

  • gorgeous truly incredible.

  • If I remember correctly, the music itself doesn't have any accidentals throughout the entire piece.

  • This is seriously one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

  • สุดยอด

  • Is it possible to buy this piece somewhere?

  • Where was this filmed?

  • From 1:59 - 2:03. Perfect!

  • @MisterTube78 More like 0:00 to 5:20

  • I played this. I was so honored to play it, we played it for a memorial service for our friend that passed away this year. The trick is to have emotion. Let the music guide you, and watch. Our quintet played it without a conductor, because we conveyed parts through movement.

  • My brass quintet is working on this now, and we're having an unexpectedly difficult time putting it together. Any tips or tricks that may help? It would seem we are all unsure of each others' intentions as far as rubato goes, and despite how much we try to work it out, it never really seems to "mesh" very well. Some of the rhythms between the horn and tuba are a little confusing as well.

  • Gorgeous, just gorgeous.

  • Goes to show you they can still sound out of this world, even without the white sneaks.

  • Rest in peace Michael : (

  • Really cool! I wanna see this place where they have done some great work. Anyone know where this is?

  • SO......BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I LOVE IT....

  • Where was this shot? Canada?

  • @erockerock238 canada doesnt have terrain like that

  • @AVerbene Whoa, excuse me?!?! Canada ABSOLUTELY has terrain like that. As it clearly states in the credits, this was filmed at the Elora Rock Quarry in Elora, Ontario. In CANADA!!!

  • @erockerock238 post production says Elora Rock Quarry, Elora Ontario

  • What album is this on? I can't believe it doesn't say. Such a beautiful song and I can't but it on itunes cause I don't know the name of the CD.

  • @ItchMyFoot its on the Magic Horn album

  • @ItchMyFoot

It is on Magic Horn by Canadian Brass

  • 2:30 is amazing...

  • This makes me not want to post any more videos of my playing... or composing for that matter haha

So beautiful. I love MK. Band of Brothers soundtrack is amazing.

  • Breeze and Peace.

  • nice video really dig this one

     FreeIpads.wall.fm

  • Utterly haunting.

  • This would be the worlds strangest campout

  • @jwilliford88 Used for outdoor playing usually. Just clear plastic.

  • The best part was 0:00 to 5:20

  • HORN ALL THE WAY. :D

  • As a french horn player, that was magnificant.

  • 3:08 is why God made trumpets.

  • Király az akusztika!!! Nagyon szép!! Köszönöm!!!

  • i wouldn't mind getting 4 of my friends and I to bring our instruments and going to a lake to play a boss brass song. *Added on to my "To - Do" List*

  • Exactly what is the name of this piece?

  • @24psmith

    Quintet

  • @mackuss Oh. Thank you. I see the quotations in the title now.

  • Quintet :)

  • @canadianbrass where can i get the sheet music?

  • Yes, very beautiful! And, the music looks so easy on paper, but getting the sound is not so easy. Goof alert: camera operator was wearing red, so you frequently see red reflected in the bells. There is an obvious full body reflectionof the operator at 3:00.

  • It's hard to express such beauty in words. The best one can do is feel it. In your heart, or in your smile, or even in your tears. It makes you feel Canadian. That's what's best of all.

  • the best stories can't be told in words

  • @MusicBeSweetYo Stephen King disagrees.

  • how is it possible to dislike this? it is so beautiful

  • beautiful!!

  • i have to say this is awesome!!!!!!!

  • 2 Dislikes. Conspiracy!

  • I love to listen to this. It makes my day every time!! =) My Favorite part: 3:52

    My favorite chord: 1:49 =P

  • @trumpetizeme, i have a hunch your a lead trumpet player. am i right?

  • @13371337able, Hahaha Kinda. Me and another guy switch off. I am more consistant with my range than the other guy, but he sounds more like a lead player. How did you guess? lol I am better at classical playing. =P

  • Great performance!

  • yeah go french horn xD

  • Maravilhoso! Amo isto!

  • trumpet player looks like mr smith from lost in space

  • I love this recording of this piece. Simply my favorite and the best i would have to say of this recording. We are playing this piece this year for college (i play horn). I can't wait to see our ending result. Thanks for this post.

  • @aj042487, what college?

  • Simply AMAZING !!!!!!!

  • The Canadian goose honking at the end is perfect.

  • I'm in love with the Canadian Brass.

    and this piece as well.

  • 3:09 is what french horns were made for.

  • yamaha

  • this was so beautiful and the scenery went just wonderful with the whole song.

  • What type of equipment are they playing on?

  • @GC2010Trumpet

They're Yamaha artists, so they all play Yamaha models:

    Tuba - YCB621 or YBB621

    Trombone -YSL8820 or YSL881

    Horn - YHR667V

    Trumpet - YTR8335RGS or YTR8335

  • Diggin the seethrough tuba mouthpiece.

  • awesome bass line from 1:55-2:00

this is really beautiful @@ awesome mv too XD

  • wow this is beautiful

  • @jonnyc93 There's a reason, they were playing this in honor of Michael Kamen, who died that year. They had commissioned him to write this piece for them. I've just realized the broad scope of Kamen's work & his is the newest of my 550 playlists of the world's best music. 350 artists have lists and every year since 1900, so this is now on 2003's playlist. My great thanks to canadianbrass for this beautiful tribute to Michael Kamen.

  • unusual, beautiful wide sound, greatest piece.

  • It's never to late to make music.

  • I LOVE THE TRUMPET!

  • the tuba's mouthpiece is clear

  • @Thetubaeddie Usually they make some tuba mouth pieces like that because they have a much larger mass, then say a trumpet. So they interact with temperature which in turn screw up intonation. So the plastic ones are used on sousas a lot and other outdoor playing.

  • @metallica2014 Yea, but they're usually only used in the cold, and definitely not for a piece like this

  • No sound could ever be as truly glorious as this piece.

  • Amazing.

  • This is the most inspiring brass piece I have ever heard.

  • brilliant! they played it as humanly perfect as possibe

  • Looks like this was filmed in the Elora Quarry.

  • I love this piece. Every time I hear the Canadian Brass it makes me wish I could really play a brass instrument. Each one is an amazing musician!
