  • Nice video man. I got the original... nice to see the reissue is basically the same thing. great little car.

  • So how many people got a tamiya for Christmas and bashed it until all 4 wheels fell off, and then got an RC10 the next year? My grasshopper was junk, but looking back, I must have ran 300 or 400 battery packs through it! Not bad at all.

  • Maybe the best Hornet video I've ever seen. Really makes me want one, even though my Grasshopper was a big piece of crap, hehehe.

  • I remember having an original one of these with a Lemans 480T motor when I was seven. I almost went through more gears in the rear end than my dad could replace!

  • @ev0lash ok thanks for telling me

  • Hornet is very fast even as stock and isnt actually that much faster with sport tuned motors

  • memories.......

  • i swear that is the most toy grade looking hobby grade rc i have every seen

  • is there any difference to the old issue? i want this so bad

  • I get depressed living in the UK and seeing bash areas like this!

  • Hehe, it's a cute little thing!!! :3

Love the grasshopper jump at 1:09!

  • Superb video and amazing driving!

  • how far from the controller can i get before it loses signal?

  • dam that things a fricken beast!!!

  • CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!

  • ( ・∀・)nice!

  • Nice video! You drive like a maniac!

  • will the larger motor stress the gears at all?

  • I had the original release version ... had it for years then i took it to an r.c car club to race it and some dumb fool frickin stood on it ... the guy ran outside and vanished before i had the chance to grab him ...

  • Brilliant. Legendarily robust and if you can control one of these, you can control anything! Nice speed boost with the Sport Tuned motor though you might find yourself running out of grip sooner rather than later...

  • @callumajor121 The sport tuned motor is a 20 turn, the standard silver can motor is 27 turn. The lower the turn, the more speed you get.

  • Thanks for the great video! I had a Tamiya Grasshopper back in the 80's and just bought the re-issued Hornet for my son. He wanted a R/C car so I thought a kit we'll build together would be best. Other than the Tamiya sport tuned motor and some ball bearings, any hop-up parts that you'd recommend?

  • FANTASTIC!!!! My first ever buggy, I put a Parma dragster motor in it and 8.4 v battery what a little beast!!!

  • Nice video - Sounds stupid, but it actually looks like the little car is having fun (!)

Was going to buy a nitro 1/8th, but might get a Hornet for sheer simplicity and fun!

Awesome looking track there - Is it a bike track?

  • top video

  • Had one mid 80's too, first drive i lost the wing, Used to use a Tonka Grader from the neighbour, and a dog chain... adjust the blade and have tractor pull comps against his frogger :)

Recently bought the re-issue, upgraded the bearings and put sports motor in it... First drive... I lost the wing :)

    Nice Vid !

  • does that have a 540 motor

  • @HarryWoodmanTube Yes, I put a tamiya 540 sport tuned motor in it which I think is better than the standard silver can.

  • The Hornet was my first "non-toy" rc car, and I LOVED it. The only things that sucked were the weak batteries from back in the day, and the 3-piece wheels with tires that got bald in a couple of days lol.

  • I had one of these back in the 80's but it would take about 16 hours to charge on trickle charge and then only last about 20 minutes :(

  • Wow.... tha sound of those 32 pitch gears brings back memories - the Hornet was my first RC in around 1985 or so... I literally smoked like 3 old school 6 cell nicad packs over the course of a few months and many allowance dollars. I had every hop up available (oil shocks, LeMans Gold motor....) ... great fun... Planning to buy a Frog re-release soon..

  • God Ive always wanted one of these when I was younger, may have to get one. Good vid mate

  • Beautiful place...very compliments.

  • congrats with the 5 star circuit. what a great track. Hornet, my first rc model,24 years back

  • So what's the top speed off road and can you fit a brushless motor, if so how fast will that go

  • @nitroghost666 They are doing I think its due to the fact that this model doesnt have dampers on the shocks.

  • I was lookin at my crappy blk ops rc car on my shelf n I was thinking back to when I had these. I had hornet (twice), grasshopper, hunter, double dare ( I think that was the name 4X4 truck). They were fun but they broke every time u used them. Oh n I had an optima also. That was badass. I put lots of money in that one.

  • Awesome car and brings back memories of when I got my first one at 13 or 27 years ago. I'm getting one for my son because he loves them and he is only 7. I might sneak another one in for dad as well.

  • hahaha, perfectly filmed!! excellent!

  • i wish i had a place to play like that.

  • The only part of a hornet that's not indestructible , the wing and I know that as a fact

  • im just wondering did any parts break on this while you did that?

  • @ass23ful, Nothing broken only trashed the rear wing a bit.

  • Are you using a Lipo battery?

  • @outside4areacleaning, Nah just a standard NiMh 7.2v battery pack

  • Nice video, and nice BMX track to run it on.

  • i bought some speed tuned gears for it but i havent put them in yet

  • I bought a Grasshopper re-release kit as well just haven't got around to putting together yet! Good luck with the gears.

  • good chice of rc car i got the grasshopper
