I think I was born around the time "Fun House" was cancelled or in its last year, So in other words, I don't remember it. I'm glad its on YouTube, and I have to say that while its not the same as "Double Dare", they are both good shows in there own right. I would've loved to be a contestant on a show like this.
I remember this show when I was about 11 years old when it was on WPIX-TV (channel 11). It was right after the cartoons. The show was followed by "Batman", the original 1966 TV show and it went on for an hour long due to the ending was cut off after the cliffhangers part where it goes into a bumper where an announcer says "'Batman' will be back before you can bat your eyes!" Those are great memories.
What happened to shows like this? Like Double Dare? Like What would you do? Like Wild & Crazy Kids? Like Legends of the Hidden Temple? Like Nick Arcade?
OMG...I use to be in front of my tv EVERY day to watch this show!!!!! Man...this really takes me back down to memory lane!!! I remember when the young r&b group...The Boys were on this show..Lol!
OMG - I remember trying out for Fun House with a childhood friend at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California. We did well for the interview that we got a call-back. But the second time around we didn't get accepted. Even though it was all in good fun ^_^
The thing that bothered me the most about the host of this show was that they never got him messy like they did with Marc Summers. And that question they asked was actually relatively difficult compared to a lot of the others they've had on this show.
After learning about Marc Summers I was very surprised he got messy. I have watched a lot of shows on TLC or HGTV I think and he is a total NEAT freak. He cleans his entire house like twice a day if I am not mistaken.
JD Roth was a pimp. Who cares that he's short? He had to share camera space with little kids, so it worked. ;)
I used to love this show as a child but I feel like it was rarely on. I looked forward to it because of the video game tie-ins and promotions I seem to remember them doing. I know one time someone on the show won Pilotwings (SNES) and that was the first I'd ever heard of this game.
this was my favorite show when it was on, partly because we didnt have cable tv until later on. i think i caught it on WXMT-30. ive never been more upset over a cancellation than i was when it happened to this show
I personally liked double dare more, basically due to the format. Double Dare was more popular basically because it came out first. If it wasn't for Double Dare, Fun House wouldn't have been created.
Wow! I used to watch Fun House after school every day when I was in 5th or 6th grade. And thanks for including that little promo clip too (I grew up in the Youngstown area but we still got Channel 43 and a few other Cleveland stations....)
I used to watch this every day when I was a kid. I'd never miss a single episode when I was a kid. I'd watch this right before super mario super show. Kudos to you! :D
It's so amazing to find this. Growing up I lived in a part of Canada that got WUAB across the water from Cleveland. Not only is this a show I loved in my childhood, but even the station breaks bring back memories. It's like I'm 6 again. :P
great show from the 80's and i don't know why the host looked like you've seen him somewhere else . funny that they had the girls grabbing balls instead of the guys lol
this takes me back when i used to watch this on one of those cable boxes that you have to push buttons to get to the next channels while i use to always jump on the couch but got in trouble for it. lol ahh... good times... good... times... :B
What were the kids saying at the start of the video?
Kid in the white and blue striped shirt is rockin a kiddie mullet there too!

I think the Fun House is somewhat of a rip off Finder Keepers and Double Dare.
The stunts are a rip off of the Double Dare Physical challenges
The run through the Fun House is rip off of both the Finders Keepers Room to room Romp and the Double Dare obstacle course.

I was 10 years old in 1988...I wasn't thinking of shows ripping each other off.

WUAB-43 playing Fun House, wow, this is taking me back.
This looks like it was the second season of the show, is it?
Also, this looks like it predates Liz, who as you probably remember, was a program host.
Ohh, the twin cheerleaders. I wonder whatever happened to them. They were so hot back then....

First season. The credits have a 1988 date.
