This is truly a case that "Black Swan" tells about. Think about it, there's a lot of pressure on someone playing the Joker, the most important villain of the Batman series. And Ledger just got to into the role that he actually BECAME the Joker. And over dosed on drugs because of it.

See this movie is brilliant and probably wouldn't have been as entertaining without the joker killing so many people, but i think he wouldn't have murdered as many people along the way if he wasn't called a freak so many times. He may not have been afraid of dying but he sure damn didn't like being called crazy. + he had a point in what he was trying to say. This was the only way he saw possible to get it across i guess.

The movie introspects the darker side of human nature, the nature of anarchy/chaos/madness, the nature of corruption, as well as our better half. The joker is not your typical con man, he is a man with convictions like Batman who does not lust for money or power, has lost faith in humanity and wishes to expose it especially to Batman, who is a symbol of righteousness.

It's funny. Everytime I watch the Dark Knight I recognise the characters by the actors that play them. eg. Michael Caine with Alfred. But with the Joker, I never think of Heath Ledger. I just think he's The Joker. Long live Heath Ledger.
