one of my friends uses the sh201 and I think that both are great sounding synths, the sh201 is definatly easier to use for quick programming and making custom sounds, but it is more expensive. You can get similar sounds from both and I would say go for the microkorg if on a tighter budget, but if you have enough funds definatly go for the sh201
Its Midi Out Cable Input/Output Then Connect It To Your Computer And If You Have Other Equiptments Like A Mini Recording Studio In Your Room Or Something You Can Make A Whole Song.
You can plug an iPod into the audio input and manipulate it like you say (there is actually a video tutorial here on YouTube showing you how to do this), but I haven't tried a guitar yet.
Yes, just push "shift" and the "8" key at the same time then twist the "cutoff" dial until it says "off" and then push "store" twice and it's saved :) It was hard for me to figure out too; I had to watch a tutorial.
As in you can play something and save it? like a loop? Iv had mine about a month but havn figured it out completely and it would be cool if thats what you mean?
Just bought myself a Microkorg, and its ace, but i cant for the life of me work out how to play one sound on top of another like they do in the demos, can anyone help??? cheers!
it does have an arpeggiator and u can modify the different patterns it uses to arpeggiate the notes like up and down and random ... but u can not individually select what notes to arpeggiate or not
yes u can use it as a midi controller but if u want to use it with a computer u hafta get a midi to usb cable because it doesnt have a usb midi output
if you get a 1/8th inch size audio cable then connect that with a 1/4th inch converter jack to the headphone output of the microkorg then connect the other end to the microphone input of ur laptop u should be able to play it and record through ur computers microphone input
look.. i'm thinking of buy a microkorg, cause i love how it sounds!! .. also i play guitar so i have a doubt!
can i connect my electric guitar to an out-put of the microkorg to maybe play the guitar with the effects of the microkorg? i would be gratefull if you answer me :)... thx!!
In one of my projects we have couple of these too. I was surprised at first, and dulled lil later on. Surprised that it can sound pretty good, but then even with tweakin i think it all the time sounded the same ya know. It became really really dull. perhaps i was just shitty @programming it but that's how i feel. I would get better like ion if i'd want to use modelling ones.
yeah good call with the rap beats thing, cos when i get mine me n my mates wanna make some comedy rap things, i was jst gonna use some of the drum fx n go over them, good idea?
the microkorg doesn't have speakers built in but getting speakers depends on what u want to use them for, if ur gonna play live then i recomend roland amplifiers, but just for practice at home i use regular computer speakers
what´s smarter roland sh201 or this one...?

can you actually like play a song on it and then play it back... does it record like that?
almostdawn 3 years ago
Unfortunately not, you can't record playback - only the parameters of the patches you develop.
THelperCell 3 years ago
It doesn have a loop function or anything where you can record and play it back
red3chilli 3 years ago
have you used it as a processor for other insruments? like running a guitar or even plugging in an ipod? also how's the vocorder?
sharathverg 3 years ago
You can plug an iPod into the audio input and manipulate it like you say (there is actually a video tutorial here on YouTube showing you how to do this), but I haven't tried a guitar yet.

That will save the sound. You can't actually record what You play.
