When i was little i had hamsters, dwarf hamsters, my first 2 hamsters had sex and got like 5 kids then she got 6 more whit same father, but she killed them was skulls everywhere. then her own kids turned aginst her and a epic battle took its place where their mother where trown to the wall by her kids, then she started to attack again and we had to kill her, but she only did atk becuse she got new babys xD had like 36 hamseters overall had to give them away the father raped hes own kids, rape.

@mrsbieber533 No, not unless the top-eared female is a dumbo carrier. Dumbo is a recessive gene. You wouldn't see dumbo ears from the children but you will see dumbo ears from the grand-children providing that the second generation is bred with either dumbos or dumbo carriers.

@MileyHilary it wasn't until the last week or so (gestation is 21-23 days) that she got huge.

depending on litter size they may not even show, but they look like they swallowed a tennis ball.

Some may start nesting early. Madie didn't until right before the babies.

Thanks so much, we are just trying to work out if my rats got pregnant we put them to gethere for a few hours every evening for 5 days (1-5 January) so not long now if they are.

I also noticed when my rat was pregnant (she had 10) that if I gently felt on her stomach once I noticed that she got fatter than before, I could feel the babies inside of her, and actually count a few of them.

You can definitely tell the difference by feeling, even if she doesn't show any.

@pittielove Just kind of massage her belly slowly and very softly, as not to harm the babies if they're in there. When I felt my pregnant rat's belly, she was 2 days before giving birth, but you could feel individual, hardish lumps :)

@lordzeuse1 Actually, you shouldn't stop it if a rodent eats its offspring, as there might be a very good reason. For all you know, the thing might have been incapable of breeding properly and they were all stillborn. I had a rat who had a litter, and only two survived, the rest being dead upon birth.

@ratninjah115 omg my gerlib trows around her babies too i freaked out when i saw it but didnt do nothing cause i was afraid she migth disown them if they got a humans sent they are 1 week and 2 days old but i havent seen them if onver 5 days since mommy made a cave lookin nest and the babies are under the bedding to know if they are ok i have to listen for the noises kinda makes me worried sometimes

Yes rodents usually don't disown or eat their offspring unless they are going to die anyway or are not recieving enough nutrition. When madie had her first lttle she always buried them and I was confused why, apparently my cat was always around watching her and the babies and she got paranoid so she hid from them. You should be able to handle the babies unless the mom is really pissy. They need socialization

@ratninjah115l omg no wonder we have a kitten that watches them from time to time well i dont think shes pissy about it i never tried thouching them yet but if i open the cage she would come over to see wat i got for her and i usually give her some exsotic nuts for protein so she makes enough milk for the 7 babies i saw them yesterday they have fur now and they are adorable 2 white and the rest are grey but i only saw 5 im pretty sure when they were furless it was so hard to count them
