Although I like the original better (Sidney Potier and Ruby D), I applaud this cast also because it takes a lot to come after such great actors and actresses and remake such a remarkable movie. well it was 2 and a half minutes long, when you got to about a minute and you saw how much was being shown why didnt you skip through the trailer so you didnt see too much of it? its not hard is it? i do agree though that trailers that show too much are stupid

I agree, I wrote a poem about the Ruth an I dont think the newer version expresses how stressed she really is. an Walter is so much less of an asshole in the new movie.

I think Audra just focused on different layers of Ruth. If you watch the entire film, or were lucky enough to see her onstage, you'll see the stress in Ruth. Just not as surface-level as other interpretations. In a way, it is a more honest interpretation. Ruth has to put on a face and put away the stress to uphold the family.
