  • maybe you could tell her "you're not listening. you need to listen" when she is distracted, then reinforce when she does what you've asked. Also, in my school, we try and give a verbal instruction, followed by a non-verbal, (pointing), then a model prompt (eg you would read it) and finally, if still no response, we use Hand over Hand. (so you could block everything else out and hold the card to her face with a simple instruction such as "read". Apparently it phases out responding on the 2nd/3rd
