The Scottish influence of Dixie (the Cross of St. Andrews).  Darrell seems to be in the "short track promoter" in this clip. He mentions in his book about being on the local short track's show to get fans in the stands on Saturday nights. He also learned to present non-racing shows and was Ralph Emery's substitute many times, and you see that here.
