Saigal has been kept alive mostly by amateurs and it is tragic that the classicists do not accept him as one of them. Yet, whenever trained musicians have attempted to sing Saigal they have realised that his music is often tougher than routine Raga renditions. Dr Narurkar has done a wonderful job. Please bring to public more of his real music which got diluted in his later years.

You deserve special praise and admiration not bcos u managed to sing this diff. thumri or that u were sounding like Saigal but bcos ur effort makes it sound quite close to what the nawab might have had in his heart.

You cant believe what effect listening to this has had over me in the last 10-15 mins.

Jagjit Singh's rendition was soulful and quite close to the mood intended of this thumri but I dint quite like what Bhim Sen Joshi stretched this thumri to (His rendition is some 18 mins long). Others were good but they made it sound like a purely classical complicated vocal exercise, devoid of the underlying somberness and the pain. Of all that I have heard of this thumri, I wud put your effort above all others, even ahead of Jagjit Singh and just behind Saigal's.

Main Baithi Thi was in itself such a fine performance but then the way you sung Babul Mora was something indescribable.

Actually, I was specifically looking for Babul Mora in Saigal's voice (its video in fact) and then found your video.

Not to show off or anything but ever since I got to know bout Babul Mora, I have tried to listen to all its renditions. Jagjit Singh, Kishori Amonkar, Kumar Gandharva, Pt. Bhim Sen Joshi and of course Saigal.
