  • the sounds the ship is making when starts up sounds like the sounds people heard all around the world this year !

  • This is a beautiful film ... it's so exciting to see all the physical representations we create of our emerging understanding of the spirit. Movies/stories: tangible expressions of our spirit. District 9 is a brilliant analogy to how our fears separate us (Apartheid) on the outside, and the inside of each individual. It's all one thing. Violence is the struggle for love.

  • Where is the scene where Koobus was about to kill Wikus?

  • Kind of reminds me of navigation in the space stage of spore. Pretty cool

  • Thumbs up, if you see this in 2012!

  • @landship92 I hope sssssoooooooooooooo

  • Can you upload a replica of this video with District 9 Soundtrack #01 - Main Theme in the background? :D

  • Notice how the temperature is 69 degrees farenheit. Oh you thought i was gonna mention 69? No here in johanesburg we use celsius. American Dumbasses...

  • If i were Christoper, i would return with an army and kill everyone who was in some way, involved in the wrongdoings done against these aliens.

I would show what they did, show proof about the lies and abuse, then

kill them on a broadcasted transmission.

  • its so cool how in the beginning of this video christopher is using the spaceship

first he chooses what galaxy, then his location in the galaxy, then his star, then his home planet around that sun

    cool stuff

  • Amazing ending

  • F**K the Na'vi, I wanna be a Prawn

  • Es una de las mejores escenas.

  • Man when they get back with there army and more battle suits. The world is screwed. he is more fortunate then he thinks he should just be a prawn.the next movie should be called

    DISTRICT 9.2

    WRATH OF CHRISTOPHER

  • My name is Christopher lol

  • is there ganna be a #2?

    if so whats it called??

  • @dewey279 District 10 lol my guess

  • @Robomonkey101 There's already a District 10, they called this the new camp where they relocated the Aliens. I was told by someone who knows about the sequel that the working title is 'The Third War', a ref. to a third world war. Pretty clever I think

  • @BlueSpirit3743 so its confirmed there's gonna be a sequel :O? i mean caus the movie was awesome but the ending was so UGH! Dont get me wrong, i luved it, ji just was annoyed with the several different cliffhangers. i mean, will Christopher come back, will there be war between prawns & humans (tho im guessing if the movie is called the third war), and will wikus stay a prawn or not? i want all of those questions answered. THIS is one of those movies tht need a sequel :)

  • @TheFunPop Yep apparently, for a 2014 release : ) Blomkamp has another sci-fi project in development atm called Elysium, with Jodi Foster and Matt Damon, but as soon as that's out of the way. I wish I knew the answers to your other questions. I guess we'll just have to sit tight and wait and see :D

  • How the hell was Sharlto Copley, and come to think of it Sam Rockwell for Moon not nominated for Best Actor awards at the oscars. Classic not what you know but who...

  • @hotblooded1983 not to mention must of his lines were improv.

  • in the end you kinda feel sorry for the guy who was infected, when he was talking about his wife being an angel and stuff

  • love district 9

sucks to be human when the mother ship comes back imo

  • now that is HD!

  • What about the shattering windows of the whole city?

  • 0:08 Take that Apple!

  • I love how he talks about getting his people back home when only him and his son leaves haha :L

  • @MovieDigitalUK no he is leaving to get help from his home planet

  • @143951 haha ino lol :L

  • Any sequel would ruin this, we're best left wondering what might happen

  • Besides Children of Men, best movie of 2000-2009.

  • @TwilightCodex Honestly, probably my two favorite movies of that entire era.

  • awesome multitouch technology.

  • Thump up if you were crying after watching this FOOKING awesome movie

  • Thumbs up if you seen How it should have ended of this lol

  • @foodbug that ending was awesome should have been the official one lol

  • I really feel bad for christoper his friend died he saw his friends body being chemistry practice stuff and he got hit by a guy he is helping an asshole now he will be back in three years to help this asshole? wtf that guy is awesome

  • I luv this movie. It is so true if aliens were to land here. We would be the fuckers that test on them and make them into experiments. Fucking bastards that we are.

  • @TheSILENTGAMERZ

    I don't know but, u slim bro?

  • Guys, it will be released 3 years from then, which is 2012 winter, about the end of the earth, another film about this age

But also it's on topic as they may come back and destroy earth!

  • @godgrant123 Christopher (the main alien guy) show me that the prawns are a peaceful speices like when he said "I thought u said no killing" so I think that hes gonna come back for the other prawns (and Wikus in the next one

  • @blazeoffreedom Yes I think they are peaceful as they have weps but didnt want to use them, maybe they come back and want to recover there alien friends and take them home but earth wont let them, so they have to make a plan to get them all into the ship and leave? :o

  • @godgrant123 good point

  • hmm I hope there is a second film about it, I think he does come back for him, and the others so they leave all together

  • I like how it starts as a documentary and then somehow turns in to a film

  • "Three Years ... I promise"

    2009 + 3 = 2012

I think I know what Christoper gonna to bring back with him ...

  • @landship92 Watch "How it should have ended: District 9"

  • @landship92 Poptart rainbow cats and Wheatley from Portal 2?

  • @landship92 AND THUS, BATTLE L.A. STARTED!!

  • @landship92 but in the movie it said that the ship hovered over Johannesburg 1984 or something and stayed there for 20 years so 20 + 1984= 2004 + 3 =2009 so they could have made District 10 in the same year

  • laugh if the engines died and it crashed down and killed everyone 0.O

  • @TheSILENTGAMERZ Yeah well funny! Not. You fucking moron.

  • @grandmasterreggaex u mad bro ?

  • @TheSILENTGAMERZ u gay bro?

  • @grandmasterreggaex u clearly mad bro

  • @TheSILENTGAMERZ u clearly gay bro

  • @TheSILENTGAMERZ

    U Slim Bro?

  • @erenpwnd8 yeah bro. u?

  • @TheSILENTGAMERZ

    I'm cleary slim bro

  • @erenpwnd8 cool bro. but was a strange question to ask bro

  • @TheSILENTGAMERZ u mad bro ?

  • what happened to the aliens still in district 9, trololol

  • Wtf happened to thats guy left arm (the right arm from our sight) 0:28

  • @nobodyelse211 see the movie.

if u want to know anyway:

    SPOILER ALERT:

he's changing into an alien after he got their fuel all over his face. at the end of the end of the movie u can see him as an alien

  • I really hope they make a 2nd one with christopher coming back for Wikus and to take revenge and start a war

  • I have faith that Christopher will come back :)

    District 9 Part 2! Please!!! :D

  • this movie is awesome! one of the thing that i love this film is because the movie is like a documental, telling the story of the aliens and the guy! :)

    sorry my english!

  • Rescue plan is most likely, you can tell from the movie that the prawns don't like violence, but they will not let others controll them like animals. I'm looking forward to it

  • Hmm, i reckon he will come back with an army and destroy earth.... and save the sweeteh man ofc :p

  • I love the alien computer-interface interaction scene in the beginning...the way it's portrayed makes the technology seem truly advanced and aliens.

It's not just a bunch of blinking colorful buttons like the way they portray alien technology in other movies and TV shows...

  • I'd love to know what these prawns video games are like

  • There's a lot of secrets in district 9..

  • What is the music that plays in the the last 40secs of the vid. Is it on the OST? Please reply

  • I find this really hard to believe this movie was only made for 30 million dollars, it seems like a lot more

  • District 10 winter 2012

  • @donramon5000 really?! did you have a link of the notice? :D

  • @AibuBenabe haha srry i was dreaming like you, i wish it could be true T.T

  • @donramon5000 D: you broke my heart.... hahaha! x)

  • @AibuBenabe like i said before i was dreaming

  • 3 years. I promise...

  • the baby alien is so cute :D but com on this technology in this movie hologram galaxy pfff :D ridiculers

  • Let's be cool here ladies and gentlemen. District 9 and Battle Los Angeles are both great films. I love District 9 mainly since it has a very deep emotional storyline, sense of morals and good character development. Battle: LA is meant to be a fun action flick movie where it basically deals a common enemy as we all know, The Aliens. Also, one of the first movies that shows a military point-of-view fighting against the aliens which I was very happy about.

So please don't trash-talk both films.

  • @xReadOrDiex i dno i havn't watched battle Los Angeles but critics panned it heavily :S.. (they had mad love for d9 though <3)

  • @TheLazything Well, don't always let the critics fool you unless you have a reasonable opinion to dislike the movie. But like I said, they're both great films that involves aliens on Earth, only in their own respective way of telling the story. If you love District 9, then you might like Battle: LA as well but it's up to you really.

    Peace out. :)

  • @xReadOrDiex yea your're right.... views of critics rarely reflect the views of the general public..... my bad... might actually watch it

  • @TheLazything oh no no no lol. Critics have views similar to audiences as well at times. Richard Roeper a top critic gave "Thor" an "A" and Ebert gives A-team a 4/4 for what it was, an action film

  • @davedirector7 yea dude but sometimes they really don't do a film justice.. like national security XD.. now that was one funnnyyyyyy movie.. that they panned like crazy...

  • @TheLazything -______- are u serious. That movie killed my brain cells well everyone has their opinions lol

  • @davedirector7 lol ahha damn XD

  • Battle long angeles was shitttt o.o shit effects

District 9 had the effects, a story, AND a moral in that story! it was well-thought through!

  • Battle: Los Angeles would have been better if it was Christopher Johnson and his people invading Earth looking for Wikus Van Der Merwe!

  • This is how Battle: Los Angeles started

  • Wikus becomes more human the more he turns into a prawn.

  • Oh yeah and if aliens ever do visit Earth, I think this is what it would really be like. Not movies like "Battle: LA" where they wipe out everything just for some resources (besides if they're smart enough to build spaceships then they should know that gaining resources by trade or whatever would be best) because humans are so damn violent we probably wouldnt even give them a chance, we'd just throw their ass in a ghetto like the movie or start a war lol.

  • thumbs up if how it should have ended broghet you here

  • Why didn't they just go home in the first place instead of landing on Earth, I mean if Earth was like the last resort for the hungry aliens, the 2 of them alone are screwed lol

  • @Hamdogrocks They ran out of gas on their way.

  • I love how the guy was hesitant on mentioning Christopher delcaring war. I really want a sequal.

  • i wish we were aliens with this technology

  • man i am still waiting for the second part of this movie!!or will it come in 3 years??!

  • i want a monitor like that

  • yeah look so realistic how the thing move all the bottons

  • its like spore, except where the tribal stage noobs :3

  • nice spoiler in the freaking TITLE.

    DAMNIT WTF

  • all those people..... what a massacre that would be >:)

  • @joaovalente96 THEY DIDNT LAND IN AMERICA, dumbass.

  • I bet the prawns on the ground were like "wtf?..wait for us???"

  • @ACelloFella lol

  • i don't why, when there's a movie about aliens they always land in America LOL

  • @joaovalente96

    not this one, lol.

  • @joaovalente96 they landed in South Africa u dumb shit -_-

  • fookin prawns man

  • Pshh my Iphone has an App for all of that.

  • Wikus did so much Christopher in the end, i really really hope that he keeps his promise and returns for a sequel to help Wikus return to his old self =)

  • I would like to see a second movie?

  • I like the Galaxy view...

  • Christopher will probably keep his promise. He'll come back for Wickus, most likely.

  • Lol wickus got screwed over what does the prawn mean by three years r they leaving for good?

  • oh my god!! i hope that there will be a 2

  • 30 million to make this film and 500 million to make Avatar. Pwnage clearly runs through even the budget

  • That little Zoidberg is CUTE :)

  • im not sure if the visual effects are better than avatar but i think the movie itself was better

  • avatars budget was 10 times more than d9 but this film has much better visuals effects

  • @XxA5AFxX lol exactly!

  • That spaceship can can navigate the whole universe. Now that's awesome.

  • Battle For LA is going to be a sequel to this I believe. The ending of this movie discussed them returning and attacking. We will just have to see...

  • Humans are viruses. I felt like I was a prawn watching the movie.

  • Fooken prawnz aye! Damn superior to hippy fooking avatar

  • LOVE THIS MOVIE. IT WAS GREAT, AND STILL IS? BRILLIANT.

  • Thumbs up for district 10 sequel (or prequel)!

  • @Ilissill Yeah I agree that a prequel would be an awesome thing to do. There are so many questions as to why they were actually here, and who Christopher really is.

  • This movie is far better than Avatar because of its simplicity.

  • @aizik2005 Avatar is in a class of its own. District 9 is good too, especially the ending. Avatar was good from beginning to end because of continuous build up.

  • @IronManu77 but Avatar was not original. Just saying.

  • This is suuuch a good movie.

  • Its so good seeing those aliens in their own element. Shows how truly technologically advanced they were and also how sad it is that they couldn't rebel earlier.

  • @ArchiPepper yeah, but they were still kind of stupid...chris was the only smart one for some reason.

  • The little prawn is using MICROSOFT WINDOWS Third Millennium Edition x512 bits

  • asshole,he took the mother ship and left every prawn there!

  • How Sharlto Copley didn't win several awards for this film I will never know. HE WAS AMAZING!!!

  • its so cool how the aliens wear human trash as clothing shit like that shit that christopher was wearing

  • well the movie was nice but it demands a sequel

i mean really the guy mutated and the alien just made it off with teh mothership and left all the other aliens at district 9? theres just too much uncovered stuff here what will happen with the aliens of district 9? (or any other districts if there were any) and what about the guy? will he be back to normal or did the alien lie to him and he will stay that way forever

this is just demmanding a sequel and i hope that there will be a sequel...

  • @killer21334 Fuck that! What's wrong with people nowadays is that they want everything wrapped up in a nice little package! Older movies were the best because they didn't beg for sequels. This movie is great as it leaves the audience wanting more, but they never get it, which allows people to make up/wonder what would have happened in the future. If/when this sequel comes out its going to ruin this entire franchise, much like Paranormal Activity 2 did.

  • @voetbal12 Agreed! I REALLY HOPE they don't touch this movie again and leave it up to view imagination. I don't want it bundled up, I want to let my daydreams fill in the gaps and holes.

This was an incredible movie. One that I am happy I watched. One that I wish they would re-release so people could give it another chance because unfortunately it is the "diamond in the rough". And truthfully, I don't think many people want to see a movie about "humanity mistreating aliens".

  • @voetbal12 Why would it ruin it? They absolutely left it open for a sequel. The thing is, if it is done right (and the same people are involved), it could be the Dark Knight of this franchise. I would love to see what would happen when/if he comes back.

  • @daftrok It could be the Dark Knight of this franchise??? Ugh just stop talking, this is a fantastic movie, it leaves the audience (YOU) wanting more! But the fact that you don't get it is what makes it great, you get to wonder what happens. We need to get away from the mind set of making sequels to movies that don't need them (i.e. the Matrix, Jaws, Oceans 11 Series, Blair Witch Project 2, The Saw franchise) those are just some I could name off the top of my head.

  • Declear war with us?! Battle: LA?!

  • @michaelmoviemaker um no.

  • Best movie of 09 no questions. Fuck the Nostalgia Critic for saying this sucks... Not really I actually like the Nostalgia Critic a lot. XD

  • What is also really touching about this film is that it also shows that not all humans are evil. Christopher being helped by Wikus.

Btw, if he does come back and declare war, were fucked.

  • just watched it last night (got it as a present for xmas :) )

couldnt believe how good this film was, such a deep storyline, original characters and amazing effects, especially the aliens.

very sad at the end when the praun is making the flower, makes you wonder if thats him and whether he will ever be cured.

  • Epic Star Map.

  • Continued. I think the movie was brilliant. They humanized the aliens so that they were very sympathetic and identifiable to the audience. Sadly, I think the reaction of humanity to the aliens was realistic. There is no doubt that if this was a real scenario, the aliens could possibly experience even greater discrimination than what is presented in the film. Humanity can be truly deplorable creatures.

  • It occurred to me when watching the film that the setting has a significance to the message the film is trying to present. The movie takes place in the Republic of South Africa, where in the past, apartheid, extreme racism and segregation occurred. The people of this region would know personally the horrors of discrimination, yet they subjugate the aliens to the same treatment. I think the setting was intentional but I don't know for sure. I haven't read much about the film so I'm not certain.

  • My "District Zombie" parody (on Youtube now) was APPROVED BY SHARLTO COPLEY himself (the REAL Wikus)! I have personally communicated with him on his facebook page, and he wrote "Saw your short, was cool. Thanks!" Epic win!!!!

  • 4 PEOPLE don't want the mothership to leave =(

  • It's sad in the end of the movie :( but I still love it and a merry christmas

  • wow humans are selfish the aliens just looking for blac fuled so they can get back home but the humans think they want to rule there land but they wont they just looking for black fuled taliens are not gonna rule earth they land there so they can get black fuled so they can go home!

  • this film had a way better and more involving plot than avatar. i loved it!!!

  • THATS A BIG FUCKING SHIP :[_________] 3

  • Ya know this movie was originally going to be the Halo movie....sure everyone already knew that

  • best movie ever created... amazing CGI, seriously, way better than avatar or anything else.. the ending is just epically sad. especially when after she got the flower, *he looks up at the camera.... just so sad... he's one of my favorite actor... his The A team movie was epic too. this guy should get an award man...

  • I love this movie I don't know why people say they hate it or that it was stupid . It was sad and emotional . This is my number 1 movie of the year or 4 ever :)

  • 3 Years...

  • pretty interesting how chris uses the ships controls

  • dosent anyone else think that the technology in the beginning is just amazing!!!

  • I love this movie and these cuuuuute prawns! ♥

  • the scene we see Junior for the last time, reminds me when I and my family were driving to a big zoo to see rare animals and my littlebrother sat at my knees, so anticipated to see the animals.

I can imaginie how Junior was waiting to see his homeplanet.

  • @movienaut Junior's name is Oliver

  • Can any1 explain this movie to me, in few words?

I tried to read on wiki, but it seemed really complicated.

Is it the aliens trying to leave in peace, but they can't cause of the stupid goverments?

  • @Loecraveiro They cant leave because their ship is broken. The humans have housed them for years in a slum in the city and when this film begins they are all about to be forcefully relocated to a large prison type camp. The main character is in charge of the relocation but something happens during an eviction that gets in the way of that which I'm not going to spoil for you :)

    Its a very good film.

  • @Howitfeel2bloved I am a man of 25 & I am never into that romantic stuff...but the ending in this made me cry...I felt a pain inside somewhere..I don't know what nerve it touched..that flower scene was a masterpiece!!!!....when the alien looks up, I felt a blank feeling inside..like I have lost a loved one..........

  • who saw his eye get bigger at 1:41

  • ewwwww man his arm is grim
