It all comes down to managing your thoughts which are just ideas collected over time through life by your experience in the world. The source of your repetitive thinking is your subconscious mind. Our mind tends to over-exaggerate how great and how bad things are but rarely sees the true nature of things. You can't believe everything you think. You see, this is not just about setting aside worry really but seeing the worrying as a meaningless, wasteful exercise.
It sounds like you're making that stuff up. Just kidding. It's hard to distinguish in doctrinal terms. In the famous film "Idiocracy" people adapted by setting aside worry. What? Not Sure? It is good not to get too distressed by your life or your nature. Things might not actually be happening as we envision. I want a Brahman cast over here...! We should pay people for not wasting resources.
I see everything as a meaningless wasteful exercise :(
