I went to Napa and bought Accel plug wires and dem plug that has 4 gappy things so thats like 10hp per cylinder so I now have 501 hp from just THAT.I thought I'd wait till last to drop da bomb on why my caddy is the fastest out there,I hear all this and that about turbos with underdrive pulleys.Dis gonna blow your mind so much it deserves its own comment

Dat car got nothing on my caddy I promise dat. mine is half the size cause its a 87 and its fron wheel drive so I even hook up in rain.you might have 500hp Mr big shot but my car weights less and it had a 4.1 which means i have 401HP factory plug I added a fram air thing and that gave me 20HP and I took it to the shop anf for only 90 bucks they put on a k&n oil filter they said adds alot of torque.I went to napa to get some power parts.continueon above comment

05EVORS...Can you READ??? About this video: This is my 78 Deville that's run a best of 10.34 @ 127 with a 500 inch Caddy motor,... Now the car has a CADDY 540 and runs mid 9's WITHOUT nitrous. Also, see "PINKS '83 Cadillac WINS DragRace", which also is the same car, and "9.5 second Caddy". In "PINKS '83 Cadillac WINS DragRace", you will note the "About This Video" states the following: U would never think the 83 (actually a '78) caddy would beat this Monte on a 200 shot of NOS".

05EVORS...sorry again about the second part of my last post. I missed that Sean now has a 540 Big Block Chevy. However, Sean was making 690 hp at the crank in the 500-which is amazing considering the intake is a run-of-the-mill Edelbrock Performer with a stock block and nodular iron crank-not steel or forged. A 540 Cad would probably make about 750 hp. Again, a Cad running low 10's on a Cad 500-priceless.

This car was on Pinks a few mos. back....not a CAD MOTOR....Dime a Dozen, cheap2race BBC, lightened car, no interior just a race seat. All you BOPC boys got your panties twisted around your nutsack thinking thats a Cad motor trapping 130+...its possible for Cad to trap that and not break if you have a Jay Leno budget thats all.

2 questions. I think I already know the first answer. 1. It looks like your car still weighs about what it was when stock, about the "stock tank" 4200 is what NHRA specs say those 78 Devilles weighed stock. Is it about stock weight/HEAVY??? 2. In your other post you mentioned a Caddy 500 bored .040. That would give you about 510 cubes, did you use a special crank or offset grind the crank to get the other 30 cubes - to get the 540?

I'm a 455 guy, but have always said with good parts to let 500s flow, it should be to a 455 like a good runnin 455 is to a 400. Or in the case of your 540 to a 455, like a 455 to about a 350. WOW!! Here's another cool "sleeper" car not quite as quick as yours. Do a youtube search for """"71 LeMans Station Wagon at Strip, Run #7, 11.60 at 115 + mph""""". 455 engine using stock q-jet carb, stock 3.31 gears, stock heads, stock manifold, no bottle, no boost, stock auto tranny, pump gas.

It has a two step and a trans brake. The 2 step can be set at a predetermined rpm on the starting line and randomly shuts off cylinders to stay at a preset rpm. Hope this helps
