Did Dr. John Olver say that you need a 50km/h-plus impact to cause severe injuries, think that's a bit lenient. Even a crash at 25km/h has the potential to inflict serious injury. 25km/h = approx. 7meters per second.
Do you have any idea what happens to you in a crash? You're body goes on a fucking rave trip and gives you unnatural hand movements. You'll probably end up accidentally bitch-slapping your wife, but she won't get mad because you killed her. Oh and everytime you don't wear a seatbelt, they kill a kitten just for fun.
And some of my American friends (they're from New Hampshire where once you reach 18 you don't have to wear a seatbelt) wonder why made seatbelts compulsory so early accidents like this is a dead (no pun intended) obvious
wear a seatbelt to reduce your injuries in the event of a crash, but don't discredit the fact that the fairmont failed to give way at that intersection
my old school buses always had seatbelts that went across ur lap but they didnt help
i mean my bus neva eva crashed but the driver made sudden decellarations quite often, perhaps about 80 km/h to nought in about five seconds, and even with seatbelt i always fell forward and hit ma head on the seat in front
my logic was that in a crash, i would rather fly forward and hit the seat with my whole body then lean forward and have all the force applied to ma hed
last year my school bus had lap belts and one time my class was going to the cinema with me and my mate siting at the front skip to the point the bus was absolutly flying and the diver slamed on tthe brake making my friend who was wearing the lap belt hit the bar infront of her nd split oopen her lip whereas me not wearing one was absolutly fine mind i was slighty shaken after seeeing my friends face covered in blood
yep they are pretty much a wast of material they should have the nomal seatbelt which they have now going over the front of the body and across the lap
Yeah. Show it to him. One time, for some reason, my mom, brother, and aunt just decided not to wear their seatbelts while we were on vacation. I told them that if we got in an accident, they could end up hurting themselves and me. My aunt was like "I'm too fat to move." -_-
well, yes it LOOKS a bit made up, seeing those slo-mo replays... but maybe they should speed it up to near normal speed, just to show the REAL effects of being flung all over the place. that way, we'll see if ANYONE can control their wrists in a fraction of a second.
Interesting. I knew they did that with a few adverts in the past few years but I wasn't sure they did it as long ago as when this advert came out. Thanks for the information :)
@sliat1981 they are dummies what look real so they were only actors at the beginning

how do they film these without killing the actors?

I totally agree. I've had my share of driving accidents, and if I weren't wearing a seat belt, I wouldn't be typing this.

putting on a selt belt for me is like second nature...I'm not even aware of me doing it (I have never gotten in a car then not put on my seat belt)

Good question! They're there for a reason, why not use them?

It's interesting that when they put a supposed expert in these ads they tend to make them speak unnaturally sloooowly.

i can remember this ad its like from 2000, pretty real looking, i dont know how they do it!

One of my parents friends (who also happened to be a cop) had a bad crash and she wasn't wearing her seatbelt.
She survived but was told she would have died if she was wearing a seatbelt!!
She was ejected through the windscreen and the drivers compartment was destroyed by the tree she hit!
But she still fines you if you don't wear one and recommends you should!
Weird!
HungryKFC 2 years ago
That makes no sense, seat belts are meant to stop your body from the resistance to fly out the wind screen. Explain more if you want.
patav2 2 years ago
@HungryKFC
That was a rare incident though, like 99 out of a 100 times seatbelts are the best option....

nickoi18 3 years ago
me too! it amazes me how the ads look so real.... vehicles collide in such a controlled manner.... gutsy stunt drivers?

Can anyone share the "text" of the video?

I don't get why people don't wear setbelts! Whats the point, not like having one on affects you in anyways, except saving you

I apologize for the obvious/off topic question, but what is one from NZ called? I can't figure it out, New Zenish or just a Kiwi...?

New Zealander or Kiwi for a more colloquial term :)
