  • And the surface area of the lungs, including the alveoli, is equal to the size of a football field. Nice animation, recommended for premedical, nursing, and exercise kinesiology students. Thank you.

  • Excellent video it really helps Thank you.

I am guessing this but is the respiration equation= Glucose+ Oxygen -> Carbon Dioxide+ Water

  • @aa45s Yes, it is :D (Energy or "ATP" is also made/released as a result of Glucose + Oxygen)

  • Check out Ron Paul's animation and how Ron Paul functions when applied to the presidential position, lol. Seriously, check him out, like a boss.

  • ok po maganda ang animation pede siyang gamitin sa Teacher's Guide in Teaching

  • amazing :)

  • very helpful !

  • good vid.. thanks.

  • Epic fail - This is ventilation. Respiration is a cellular process.

Even if the video was correctly titled - the mention of cavity pressure, diaphragm movement and rib cage movement.

    Please remove.

  • @Johnny010 Respiration includes ventilation(inhaling, exhaling) as well as cellular respiration.

  • ...gling ehh

  • Nice one! You forgot Diaphragm's role! It's Ok when I know what happens!

  • the procces is called simple diffution

  • amazing

  • SUBHANALLHA

  • excellent! helped me a lot

  • hi

  • great video dont listen to the others

  • This isn't respiration. It is ventilation using the respiratory system :)

  • Invitation. Take part in Second 3D stereo Festival in Moscow, Russia in December 2011. Your excellent 3D videos and movies could win in 3D Fest 2011!

    info@3dfest.ru

  • wow i don't give a fuck......fuck homework this shit is dumb

  • @sk8erdude180x2 I'm sure you don't find it so dumb when you're trying to skate....

  • @sk8erdude180x2 Your shit is dumb

  • Actually good animation but that is breathing not respiration

respiration is defined as the transport of oxygen from the outside air to the cells within tissues, and the transport of carbon dioxide in the opposite direction

  • Where is the external and internal intercostals muscle?

    but otherwise good thx alot

  • Dont tell me there are Doctors trolling on here haha ;)

  • why do all you people talk about this is for low level college? i am in 6th grade and we started in 5th this is a review .....beyotch.

  • this is perfect for o level students...

  • THIS IS WRONG

This process is Ventilation not Respiration. Respiration occurs in the cells

  • @ExposeTheCheats respiration is the process of taking in oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide..SO THIS IS RIGHT

  • Awesome

  • haivng a flashback from house MD

  • and for those who are after the poor kid who claimed that he is a doctor; he was probably joking so leave him alone.

  • This is breathing, not respiration - the oxidative process which occurs at a cellular level.

  • @oldsynner Ahh, no its respiration. Cellular respiration is the oxidative process you are referring to

  • thank you for the fantastic share.

  • What happened to the diaphragm ???

  • @11889music exactly, that is why I wanted to see an animation of the diaphragm and intercostal muscles contracting during inspiration but this video fails to show that.

  • Fascinating! Thank you!

  • learn about mesothelioma

  • If I may; lungs do not contract. The diaphragm contracts therefore um.. stretching is the word I think? the lungs; the pressure decreases in the lungs causing air to rush in.

at least, I think it's something like that 'cause else I spent my day yesterday studying for my exam and learning absolutely nothing..

  • @tiffanykeM You are right, contraction is not a great word for it. Lung recoil is more appropriate

  • great video!

  • Very good studing.

  • This helps.

  • nice to study on this ^^

  • REALA AND E ON CYA

  • People who are looking for the processes of cellular respiration instead of just inhalation, go to: /watch?v=3aZrkdzrd04

  • I'm confusedisnt this inhalation? i thought respiration is oxygen and glucose into enery carbon dioxide and water :L

  • @lilmzblogger you are right this is inhalation

  • dis is 4 my homework

  • how should i download this video...???

    i want this video...

  • Woooow...so respiration is exactly the same as VENTILATION!

    TRIPPIN'!!!!!!!!!! 8o

  • Very easy to critic others.Post your own detailed video!!

It'is not detailed but it is a glampse of what respiration is,knowing ,to those who are SO SCIENTIST,that respiration is a complex process of anatomical, physiological and molecular events!

  • Or maybe the title should be "Physiologic respiration"

  • Thanks for you reply. My concern is based around the fact that science and biology educators have to deal with the fact that students often cling to a misconception that respiration means breathing. A student wanting a quick answer to "what is respiration?" will watch this very good an authoritative sounding animation and the misconception is perpetuated. Maybe the title should say "ventilation and gas exchange". kind regards

  • Funkus cellular respiration is part of respiration.

  • who feels the need to dislike this video

  • BEST one...... :D

  • I teach senior biology and I think the title and statement that "this process is called respiration" is misleading.

It explains the pumping of air by the lungs and the transport and exchange of gases but respiration in biology typically describes cellular respiration. The core concept of respiration is the energy transformation from chemical potential energy in sugars to chemical potential energy in molecules such as ATP which can then drive biochemical reactions.

  • @Funkussionist -

You are correct, but the title of this video is not "cellular respiration" its "respiration".

  • Ver y intersting and helpfull

  • thank you very good vedeo

  • this video dosent explain enyhting

  • WOOOOOW THIS IS THE RESPRITORY SYSTEM IN DETAILED!!!!! GOSH THIS HELPED!!!!!

  • what has been shown in this video is ventilation(inhaling and exhaling) and external respiration(gas exchange between alveoli and blood vessels) respiration in its own sense is a metabolic process that occurs in the bodies cells, basically respiration is the process that produces energy so i think what the guy said at the end was kinda wrong

  • Why would anyone know all the terminalogy? if it s obvious why are you here?

  • I'm a doctor

  • Respiration is not just breathing!

  • Respiration is not just breathing!

  • Comment removed

  • he forgot to tell us how the lungs inflate and deflate....THE DIAPHRAGM!

  • Good video with good details without being overbearing. What program was this video created in? Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • was taught this today in natural science. its amazing how we breathe and exchange gases :)

  • my homework was to find an animated video of breathing in and out :3

  • great vid

  • This video has nothing to do with respiration. What a fail...

  • Great video, thanks for posting!

  • huh? respiration is the process of deriving energy from metabolites i.e. glucose and oxygen. what is being described here is ventilation!!!

  • @kjax2008 wat they are describing is the gas exchange between alveoli and blood which is a chemical process called external respiration. while ventilation is a physical process of breathing air into and out of the lungs. t this short video just tried to briefly talk about both anatomy and physiology of the res. sys., cant cover all the details. the only thing is that they should change the title to "RESPIRATORY SYSTEM" so ppl don expect to see something about respiration in details :)

  • @hieuphan88 Thanks for the response. I am a school science teacher and as far as I know what they are describing is a part of the respiratory system, but he states that it is respiration, but respiration includes in its key point the production of energy through metabolising glucose and oxygen. Maybe Americans have a different definition, but here in the UK I would mark this as wrong.

  • @kjax2008 I agree, It's pulmonary ventilation as far as i'm concerned.

  • @kjax2008 You know the score!

  • this video doesn't mention anything about the intercostal muscles and diaphragm allowing for the expansion and contraction of the lungs. im meant to know that for my A Level exam which is a bit more basic than a degree in medicine.... !

  • this vido is gay

  • This helps so much!!!!!

  • How was it diffusion? Can someone explain how it was diffusion?

  • @hajko100 When O2 enters the lungs, deoxygenated blood passes over the alveoli via the blood capillaries. Capillaries are very small, and have tiny openings in them called fenestre. Because the concentration of O2 in the blood is lower than that in the lungs (after inhalation), O2 diffuses past the alveolar membrane through the fenestre into the blood capillaries to be cycled throughout the body. The process is simple diffusion

  • @hajko100 sorry, i meant passive diffusion in my last comment.

  • THIS IS BREATHING! respiration is the conversion of glucose and oxygen into water, CO2 and energy in the form of ATP. It involves many complex bio-chemical pathways. This video is a joke.

  • @woopwoopshadoop Your referring to cellular respiration. This video describes the combined delivery of oxygen to body tissue and removal of waste products (namely CO2) via the coupling of the respiratory and circulatory systems known as respiration. Obviously the specific mechanism outlined in this video which is shared by all mammals (with the exception of whales) is internal respiration.

  • @liho123 =)

  • I.love.youtube.

If it wasn't for youtube I probably would of failed a few classes

  • @clarkallard sssssaaaaaaaaaaaaaame here

  • why would any1 dislike this? lol

  • yesss

  • like if ogilvy sent u here xD

  • i don't understand the diffusion part starting at 1:33 :(

  • @JKie2Kiss The alveoli are surrounded by capillaries which are only one cell thick (alveolar- capillary membranes) this is where gas exchanges happens - oxygen is added to the blood and carbon dioxide is removed because it's not needed and so its exhaled.

  • I am disappointed that this animation does not include a full portrait of the process which includes the diaphragm

  • funny that a 1minute 44 second video managed to teach me more than my teacher managed to teach me in a whole year

  • latin-based european words pronounciated by americans

both funny and painful to the ears

  • god u are great is all i can say

  • yes i no they use the diaphragm

  • does anyone no of a vid tht talks about how singers breathe i need it 4 my sci fair project

  • interesting

  • hi,, im gonna ask something how to download this video or it will be download for my project purpose... pls. i really need some help from u guys, thanks

  • hi, im gonna ask something pls. tell me how to download this video for my project purpose i really need some help from u guys...

  • thank you very very much! this is the best version of respiratory system..you helped me to get an A!

  • wow great video!!!!

  • This helped me with my homework, thank you!

  • good

  • vry gud .....

  • very well said an presented

  • thx for helping me with some of my gr. 11 bio homework. I want to enter the anesthesia field but I can settle for a doctor :)

  • awesome! u just helped me with my bio hw!

  • Thanks for the video! this is a great way to study!

  • maybe alveollae aren't actually organised like shown in this animation, and you could get much more detailed things from books(Hystology,Phisiology, etc.) but there is nothing wrong here. Nice animation

  • well i think ive studied enough for my respiratory system quiz

  • The color of the blood is red.

  • what color is the blood?

  • wow this was so helpful thanks!

  • tryuytuytu

  • K guys, to be honest when i choose my cardiac doctor i dont really give a damn whether he can spell or not so stop judging him, first learn how to do a god damn heart surgery then judge him, okay?!!

Gosh, a bunch of no good idiots surf youtube...

  • actually, floonahrr, many doctors can't spell. they aren't any smarter than anyone else. this is especially true in the states where an idiot has a pretty high chance of getting in since there are 100+ schools to apply to.

  • grow up kids. just watch the video.

  • This was great! Very educational. Thanks!

  • guys don't confuse respiration with cellular respiration. Respiration is common language in Anatomy and Physiology for gas exchange on a systemic level (Ex: Respiratory System). Cellular respiration is the process by which all eukaryotes and some prokaryotes synthesize ATP from ADP+P(i). Or in laymans terms Cellular respiration is how individual cells make energy.

  • @knucklehead212 why you think you need to tell us that like we idiots?

  • ha, you're a doctOr?! who can't even spell their own profession?!

    good luck to your patients!!

  • @My111Asdf You must not be a very good doctor then. I dont see anything incorrect about this video. Maybe you need to go back to med school.

  • @My111Asdf really. you are a DOCTER!!!!!!! Wow i didn't know doctors couldn't spell.

  • @My111Asdf nice job spelling doctor

  • @My111Asdf I don't know how a doctor would say such a thing, even my kids know how a respiratory system works....

    good luck to your patients!!!

  • @dannishi Pretty sure doctors need to be able to spell, too.

  • @My111Asdf u must be a stupid "docter"

  • @My111Asdf possibly the worst doctor in history.

  • @kooziejr u mean "docter" lol

  • @My111Asdf haha ya right

    u spelled doctor wrong

  • @My111Asdf ...and you can't even spell your profession right? really? i agree with you dannishi... sucks to have him as your care provider...

  • @My111Asdf

    I'm a med student

and I dont see anything wrong with this vid :D

  • @My111Asdf it's D-O-C-T-O-R, dear!

  • @My111Asdf Straight to the point, Mr. 'Docter'.

Maybe you need to go back to school and learn to spell. That, or don't lie about being a doctor. It's a very prestigious and well respected job; Don't wear it out.

  • what was wrong with his spelling. Sorry if you dont mine me asking.

  • @JediButch Dr. is spelled Doctor, and he said Docter

  • @My111Asdf In this video, the information is over-simplified but it's not really wrong. At 17 years old, you should know the stuff in this video if you'd been paying attention in school. Not only are you not a doctor, you will probably NEVER be a doctor at the rate your going. Get educated.

  • @My111Asdf i litteraly just read up on the respiratory system and everything they said was right. And you spelled doctor wrong.

  • @My111Asdf

Well, I guess you really are a doctEr. Because i think everyone is sure that the last thing you are is a doctOr. ROFL

  • @My111Asdf I have to watch this for science class so can you please tell my teacher that

  • @My111Asdf No, You're an idiot and everything they said is right.

  • @My111Asdf

this is for our level of education not for doctors. plus if ur actually a doctor, why are u watchin videos of respiration anyway? havent u learnt it already?

  • @liho123 we ddnt actually watch. we just download it because we need clips as we deliver seminars

  • @liho123 lol,

    "oh snap"

  • @My111Asdf

dood ur 17 how cud u possibly be a doctOr?

  • @BarbCat08---It's Doogie Howser?

  • @BarbCat08 MY DAD IS A DOCTOR AND HE WORKS WITH THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM! HE TEACHES ME EVERYTHING ABOUT THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM! ITS SOOOOOOOO INTERESTING!

  • @gumchuwer can your dad help me? i have an a&p test on tuesday lol

  • @My111Asdf

    What is a docter?

  • @My111Asdf i am a docter too i """"agree with you"""""

  • @My111Asdf

    A Doctor? Really?

If you Truly were, you would know how to Spell correctly!

    Oh, I'm a Syentist too!

    M~R

  • Wow...this video really help...thanks...

    and you @My111Asdf is a douchebag...haha... XP

  • @My111Asdf It's amazing you got through pre-med and med school, yet somehow can't manage to spell the word "doctor" correctly or even realize that EVERYTHING is one word. You are an idiot

  • love it lol

  • respiration:is the process of breaking down food inside living cells to release energy

breathing: is the mechanical movement by which air goes in and out of the body

    =D

  • @mariaaaaaaaam95: Biologically speaking, respiration is the process by which (aerobic) cells use oxygen to make ATP for energy. What you're referring to is called catabolism. Physiologically and medically speaking, respiration is used interchangeably with breathing.

  • Yah... cellular respiration and respiration are two different things.

  • It's a little bit hard

  • awesome video i gotta say! ;)
