  • Truly amazing!

  • Is this with pure nickel strings?

  • @J4m3z1 No, they're unobtanium. Very rare. Have to fight blue cat aliens to get them.

  • I think he is being sarcastic.. The title I mean.

  • you can play anything on any guitar, sure, the stock pickups in a strat may not be great for lots of distortion, but stick the right pups in, maybe lower the strings, (maybe change the gauge) and whay not?

  • there is only one thing that strat can't.being chuck norris

  • sorry guys but a strat can rock it depends on the player

  • @luckydebi EXACTLY!

  • I think he never heard Iron Maiden

  • @joost066 Someone didn't watch the video before commenting...

  • nice video

  • Using single coil pickups for heavy distortion metal is a terrible idea, thats why many use humbuckers and buy guitars such as les pauls or sg's for harder rock.

  • @volcom1722 Never heard of people having different preferences. To me most humbuckers sound fat but in a weak way single coils are lean and they've got bit it's all a .matter of opinion

  • I mean like almost all guitars can do damn near any sound unless you want something very specific. This video is evidence of that. this is especially true when using distortion.

  • What this video proves is with enough processing, even a pencil can paint a house. There isn't much of the guitar itself on display here, it's all about the fuel which amplified it. 75-80% of a guitar's tone comes from the amp or processor, as the case may be. It always has, it always will.

  • @Maxx61 You could not be more right!

  • @Maxx61 I dont know why but i thought about the pencil can paint a house lmao i know its not the point but your house would look so shiny with all that graphite.

  • i can´t see why that strat can´t do metal?

  • @CrazyNachooo I guess the title was meant to draw our attention xD but from the look of this, I see that the stratocaster's a really versatile guitar!

  • Jim root from Slipknot uses fender stratocaster with ent 81 in the bridge and a emg 60 in the neck

  • These days there's so much you can do with Pedals and what-not, you can make almost any guitar work. Not slating this guys playing or anything, but I wish people would stop bitching about equipment and just get the best sound they can with what they have; and more importantly HOW you play, not what your playing with.

  • well, Squier definitely cant do good metal sound. but if u take a real good fender, it will be very nice. for example: marty friedman actually used strat to record some songs on Youthanasia in Megadeth.

  • @VoVikMakaR Uh, dude he has a Squier...

  • i like how you have fun with it lol

  • too much output... my ears are already bleeding

  • wasnt the fender whatever it is in waynes world?

  • Bahahaha nice

  • This video is so great!!! haha. Every time I'm reading a review of a strat and someone writes "this guitar is good but can't do metal" I realize they are a noob who has no idea what they are talking about and move on to the next review. High gain comes from the amp or a pedal, not the guitar and this video proves that point perfectly. Thanks for posting!

  • amp/effects?

I own a squier bullet strat and i would like it to make these sounds!

  • @TalTxD You would need to buy a Korean 80's Squier if you wanted tone like this. I bought a Squier Classic Vibe 50's and i reckon its just as good as the Korean made. Classic Vibe is Chinese made

  • @wiganlad2006

i was just asking what kind of amp your'e using

  • of course he's being sarcastic...don't be stupid! mtf's!

  • @jrkfacedkiller did you ever think that i was being sarcastic about him being sarcastic? did you ever think that maybe i was trying to creat some sort of temporal rift that would suck the earth into it and get the earth out of harms way from giant asteroids? thanks asshole you ruined the whole thing thus damning the entire earth.

  • havent you ever heard of IRON MAIDEN???

  • @spilledmilkguitars He's being sarcastic.

  • well lets face it......squire guitars cant do anything ha ha ha JK

  • Bullcrap! Its for metal! :D

  • I can't believe at what I eared ! This Squier sound really good ! And you're good to ! I subscribed to your channel !

  • i think their should have been a question mark at the end of the video title cause fender can do metal as played here and by jim root the guitarist for slipknot

  • @guitarshreder43 : True, but Jim's was custom made specifically for the genre, fixed bridge and EMGs. You might as well give him an Schecter or ESP, you'd get pretty much the same result in tone. When people say Fender Strats/Teles can't do metal they are refering to the vintage style ones with single-coils and a 6 screw bridge. I say bullshit to that, just look at Yngwie Malmsteen and the guitarist from Jeff Scott Soto! Paul Gilbert even uses single coils in his Ibanez Fireman!

  • @DJParkesie959II Hmm very interesting

  • aaaaammmmm title is ironic, isn't it¿? it sounds extremely epic

  • @SCCH28 :P It's sarcasm haha

  • theyre better for metal because you can actually hear the notes youre playing unlike active humbuckers which sound like you put horse blankets over your amp

  • This sounds heavy enough for me! Which pickup or pickups did you use for this, please?

  • @Spirituality1980 The guitar is all-stock.

  • @rmenga Great! And which configuration did you use in terms of bridge pu, middle pu and neck pu?

  • @Spirituality1980 Again, the guitar is all-stock.

  • @rmenga he means like wich pickup did ou used like bridge pickup neck pickup see that switch next to the tone knob? thats the pickup switcher if it is all the way down you are on the bridge pickup

  • Any guitar can sound horribly distorted if that's what you want it to do and you have the amp and effects to do it.

It's just that humbuckers (particularly active ones) tend to break up easier than single coils and sound better when you do so.

Having said that, when a tone is that distorted you can bearly hear anything anyway, so the difference is probably pretty minimal.

  • sounded more like rock to me

  • AVGN plays guitar?

  • @MasterxMorgan AVGN doesn't wear brown t-shirts.

  • Well, ya look like him.

  • @rmenga Now, try it with a Squier Tele! No seriously, I really wanna hear it.

  • @Bludhoundz8 Nah I don't do Telecasters because the shape of the guitar doesn't agree with me. The top 'hump' always digs into my ribs because it's not contoured like the Stratocaster shape is.

  • @rmenga Ah, makes sense. Oh, and by the way, what pedals would you recommend for a good metal tone with single-coil equipped guitars?

  • @Bludhoundz8 I don't do pedals, I use a DigiTech GSP 1101 rackmount effects processor.

  • @rmenga Oh, sorry!

  • @Bludhoundz8 i own a tele..and play metal..iown strat and a gibby.and your saying?

  • @rockincoffee I'm saying I love Tele's and would love to hear a good metal tone from this guy using one ;)

  • Did you use tube amp or solid state? and what effects did you use? At the moment ive got a solid state one, and cant make the fender sound metal, on the other hand, Les Paul Custom cuts the shit out of the thing :)

  • @dzava When recording to the computer I use a DigiTech GSP 1101 (rack unit), however when going through an amplifier, I use only solid-state. If you want a Strat to get a metal sound, you'll have to experiment with different pedals. Adding in a very light chorus also helps fatten up the sound a bit.

  • @rmenga thank, it did help quite good, and the combination of middle pickup with bridge makes that sound even more juicy and round

  • Strats are not good for metal is definitely a myth! I play LOTS of Slayer with a strat and It's fine!

  • Iron Maiden still uses strats so fender is good with well... EVERYTHING. I wonder If I could do that with my Tele Deluxe Black Dove?

  • @tuck234 Dont Iron Maiden use SD JB Jrs and other little stack p'ups though?

  • @tuck234 IRON MAIDEN IS NOT even metal

  • @MrRaphaelLippi LOL TROLL ALERT

  • @LemmyK00pa Where?

  • @MrRaphaelLippi WHERE DID YOU GET THAT FROM? Its pretty naive to think that. Iron Maiden themselves consider themselves a Heavy Metal Band. LOLz FAIL.

  • @tuck234 I don't know, Iron Miaden just feels... too weak for heavy metal.

  • @MrRaphaelLippi They were considered part of the New Wave of Heavy Metal. Besides, not all song fro Heavy Metal are actually really Heavy. In fact if you pay attentions to the guitar riffs and bass, they are still playing that really low blues chords.

  • @tuck234 They could just be called metal, not heavy metal .

  • @MrRaphaelLippi their first 2 albums defined metal though....

  • That gallop was awesome man

  • fender doesn't hide the mistakes or the lack of technique, being able to play various styles in a strat helps you to develop your technique way more than doing it in a ibanez or a Jackson, you gain way more strength in your fingers and arm.

  • @tsubasa1988 haha! i've been playing a strat for like 5 years..and i got to agree it takes more than to buy a guitar with a specific genre, but to be honest i'm still playing this same guitar 'cus i got a low budget i mean..i can't even work untill next year lol.

  • les paul one guitar for alllllllllllllll metal country ,blues salsa rock heavy.......guibson les paul

  • Fenders are what they are.....lol

  • i play Rammstein on my Strat and i have no problems :)

  • WHAT EFFECTS ARE YOU RUNNING IT THROUGH?

  • can you teach me how to tune my fender like this?

  • Stats can play any kind of music, think any electric can, or maybe it's the player? Didn't Hendrix prove that.

  • Metal tone is more to do with amp and effects than the guitar and its pickups.

Generally speaking, the more distortion you get, the less important the tone of your pickups is. As long as they can make a big noise, you're golden.

  • I love how every one is freaking out and say the names of bands and guitarist who play metal music on strats when it clearly says "joke" in the title.

  • How'd you get that tone? or.. the more appropriate question would probably be what equipment are you using?

  • io tengo una igual

  • who would say a strat cant play metal look at tom morello in some of the songs

  • so you think a Fender American Standard Strat SSS would buzz?

  • what amp?

  • yeah fender strats cant play metal , thats why iron maiden uses them

  • ok i just got one for Xmas.how can you say it doesnt play good metal.this is iron maidens guitar.its perfect for heavy metal and good enaugh for harder metal.

  • Iron Maiden uses strats! :D

  • Strats can do anything and you have proved it countless times hehe..are those stock pickups btw? :)

  • 0:17 beastttt!!!! hahh

  • all this time i was searching for my style of meal guitar nd this is it!!!!

  • That's because you're using a single coil strat ! Try to install a hum on !

  • @quainhankid14 i'm straight, but thanks for the advice

  • whats your opinioun on the Fender Special American strat?

  • @Ibik i'm pretty sure there's no such word as 'opinioun'

  • @rmenga Hey man, i installed the EMG Zakk Wylde combo 81 on bridge and 85 at the neck on my stratocaster and i also use an MXR Fullbore Metal Pedal and it's a fucking beast i tell you!

  • @rmenga And a Floyd Rose

  • Comment removed

  • @rmenga Yes, there isn't, but you know what he was trying to say and you could answer nicely.

  • be grateful. I have a shitty ass $50 guitar.

  • 90% The Player

    5% The Guitar

    5% The Amp

And YES You Can Play Metal On Stratocaster's Look Up Yngwie Malmsteem

  • strat can do any style

  • sounded pretty metal 2 me

  • if you want to play metal GET A DEAN!!!!

  • @thenoobtech Why would I take the recommendation from someone with 'noob' in their name? Fail.

  • @rmenga no fuck you !

  • @haza649 i don't do requests

  • he has stacked pickups, and i bet that the tuners are really nice ones with the original tuning heads on them

  • wrong and wrong. the hardware is 100% original, stock pickups, plastic machine heads and all. fail.

  • bet you he uses ruitar rig

  • digitech gsp 1101, actually

  • check my channel, i get from guitar rig a really nice tone from a strat...

  • very nice playing... would be be kind enough to tab this?

    thanks in advance.

  • see my tabs video

  • i just got an american satin finish and love it! :)

    and nice playin

  • hahaha dude that sounds amazing but its weird seeing it come from that guitar

  • that's kinda the whole point

  • yeah and im just pointing that out so other people dont make the mistake of thinking your fake or something, you know? X-)

  • very kind of you (said sincerely), but unfortunately youtube is filled with stupid so it's pretty much guaranteed that even with your kind words will fall on deaf ears (or blind eyes as the case may be)

  • haha thats so true, by the way ive subbed to you so keep up with the good vids!

  • Pretty cool sound :)

Yeah, it more depends on the amp than on the guitar..

  • i don't use an amp

  • @rmenga oh snap haha

  • Sounds pretty beefy for being single coils.

  • Well that "beefy" sound is bass, Fender single coils are wound much hotter than most humbuckers which give them more treble. Humbuckers have more bass do to the 2 coils. All you need to do to get that "beefy" sound is to turn the bass up on the amp.

  • i don't use an amp. you fail. :)

  • The metal opening kinda sounded like Nightwish.

  • Nightwish is the best band ever.

  • sounds good to me :/

  • yeah I brought my strat into our schools metal appriciatation club so one of my friends could do a demo of his skills (he had broken his guitar a couple days before) when i got it out one of the guys just looked at me with a discusted look and said you want him to play metal on that? so I turned back at him smiled real big and said yea and if you were any good you'd be able to as well, he got pissed but the look on their faces when he started playing was just amazing

  • i love my strat, always have, always will! everyone gives me shit till they hear me play! then their like, "that is actually a strat? DAMN!"

  • same here dude, haha, the expression on people's faces is just priceless isn't it?

  • what about Schecter?!?!

  • @nathan16larson Schecter is mainly for metal heads

  • i beg to differ

  • schectar are fucking awsome :D i got omen 6 diamond series only left handed 1 in england and i love it :)

  • wooo tele for number 1 :P

  • i dont even play guitar and i can tell you right now that your list is bull, how come jackson and esp arent up their

    1. Caparison guitars

    2. ESP or LTD

    3. or 4. Jackson or Ibanez

    5. Washburn or what ever you like, but not telecasters

this list is probably pretty shit but its better than your meta guitar list

  • NewAgeEagles

if you don't play guitar then why are you commenting on which guitar are the best? :P

  • Another myth blown clean out the water.

  • I play death metal, thrash and doom on my Strat. I love it 'cause I gotta fight it a little to get the tones I want out of,GET THIS, my fingers! Yes I have to actually use my technique and not the effects or ease of playing an EMG equipped jumbo fretted guitar. I think Strats are awesome for all types of music. They make you "earn" your style.

  • Well said...

  • @mwadevilg How do you make that deep disortion sound i still havn't fugured it out...do i have to buy a distortion pedal?

  • @HeheShutUp121 try tuning down and using compressor/EQ

  • @mwadevilg

Basically, you're saying that Strats are hard to play, right? Isn't that usually a bad thing?

  • @WoWintosh I love playing strats, best one I've played so far was a mim candy a red one... very easy to play, fast neck especially

  • @mwadevilg Weird way to think, I'm an LP man, and love my Metal, I don't think it has anything to do with 'earing' styles, just more to do with playing what you want to play and what sound you want, I like my Maple/Mohagony, and my passive 'buckers, but hey, if you like single coils and alder, do whatever you want.

  • @mwadevilg Earn nothing except the fact that VERY few metal guitarist uses Fenders, and even more rare are strats players. John 5 uses Fender tele, but he has EMGs else that he wouldn't metal at all. It's all about the style you play. Fender are intended to Blues, when Schecter, ESP, Jackson, are metal guitars when Fender, PRS (Except for COF guitarist, even that he uses EMGs and ENGL amp), and other guitars in that category are not intended for metal usage..

  • @mwadevilg

Hell yes! Except for jazz, strats can NOT do jazz. The Telecaster, on the other hand, oh my god, don't even get me started. bareknucklepickupsDOTcom, Teles, vintage, Blackguard Tele Series, Flat '50, sound clips, Flat '50-Modern Metal. Proof that Teles can also do all types of music, jazz, funk, rock, metal, electronic, orchestral, classical, fusion, alternative, rap, country, hell just about everything that can be called music, even material by Conlon Nancarrow, why not?

  • @WoWintosh a strat with bartolinis can do jazz great

  • @mwadevilg True. I was able to play a lot of Metallica songs with strats. I say was since my fingers can't bend as good as they used to.

  • @mwadevilg no they dont, the whole point of emg's is for the specific metal style because strats single coiled pickups are too tinny and dont pack enough punch

finger your board as technical as you want, its not going to change the sound of your pickups you moron

  • at some point i'm going to make a reply to this video on how completely and utterly correct you are... (squier's can do amazing things)

    very sweet riff btw

  • then what do u use if u dont use amp??

  • I list my gear on my web site, see sidebar.

  • This guys' gonna put every guitar company out of business. Awesome!

  • Good amp you got! nice gain...

  • I don't use an amp.

  • i LOVE PLAYING FENDERS!

  • that sounds fucking fat for a strat

  • dude i love you and your videos and squier . TY

  • Wow...AWESOME!! Do u think that fender stratocaster package for beginners would be good to start out with? It comes with:

-3-tone Stratocaster guitar and 10-watt Squier amp with 10-ft cord

    -tremolo bridge

    - 3 single-coil pickups paired with a 5-way pickup selector switch; volume and 2 tone controls for wide range of tones

-strings, picks, strap, gigbag, guitar stand, and instructional DVD

Do you think It would be good to start out with? Even to play some pretty hard stuff like Trivium?
