There's a lot of hating on this, presumably from Stones fans who don't listen to Bruce's solo work. This is from 1974, written with Pete Brown, and from his excellent LP 'Out of the Storm'. Taylor had his own reasons for leaving the Stones (another great band, of course), and it's a shame to let that color opinions of this music, which is coming from a different place, and has different intentions. Funny how many people presume they know better than these excellent musicians!
This must be 1969, or very early 70's, and an excursion of whimsical 'progressive rock'-it is certainly no-less ridiculous than "Genesis"-would not have sold too well one thinks, maybe for 5 minutes when the Bohemian glitterati liked it.
These songs are as brilliant as anything done with the Rolling Stones or Cream, in some cases. I'm a fan of the bands listed. People just don't hear this band as often.
Perhaps at this point in time, Taylor was just happy to get away from the drug induced scene of Richards..... As it appears to him in retrospect, I'm sure he knows it was a huge mistake to leave the Stones to pacify Bruce's ego of playing with another legendary guitarist.....!
I love the Out of the Storm album, it was the first record of Bruce/ Cream I ever bought. I love how he calls Pieces of Mind"a very strange song" in the intro to Keep it Down that follows. It is very odd, prog-blues perhaps, with bizarre lyrics. Pity Golden Days isnt on here, that's a gem.
shocking habit taylor has got reaching down to the vol / tone control all the time.. a lot of players do this and it makes NO difference at all.. its so annoying.. crap piece as well..
Totally intense , i've only heard the album songs for a Taylor . I never heard this what album is this from . Mick Taylor is a lot better than i thought with all those chord voicings
along with mick & carla bley, jack's BEST, post-cream band & lp ever! EASILY! wish there was a vid of this band doing "running through our hands," though. best song on that album...
Much later in his career Jack said that being on drugs added nothing to the music - although at the time they all thought it did. That's why he forgets or wrong orders his lyrics so much.
Jack Bruce's music Soooo good. I'm a musician and was affected immensely by his songwriting as exemplified in Harmony Row & In From The Storm. All this on top of course of his absoluterly fantastic vocal and bass work.
Thanks much for posts of this concert. As emmadet aptly puts matters, Wow. Out of the Storm runs a very close second to Harmony Row as my favorite Bruce album.
"Out from the storm" is my favourite Jack & Pete record of the 70s. Steve Hunter did such a great job on the record, I wonder why Mick taylor got the gig instead.

I know these guys are great players but I am thinking that this is a joke. Almost Spinal Tap. That drummer sounded like 2 tennis shoes in a dryer.

@dakotajoman
agree with you on the drummer's kit sounding flat
