  • you are one of the smartest girl i have ever seen.

  • Some how this is fun to watch even though it's educational with high pitched voices witch actually make it better good job I like how you pull these off.

  • pressure will build up? maybe i will try

  • You are sooooo cuuute, and so smart!

  • Cool!

  • i loved the science lesson.

  • you guys should see if you can get this on PBS. i would totally bribe my kid to watch stuff like this.

  • go make something!!!! lol :P

  • That is so cool

  • You're cute, smart, and may well explain

  • hope she keeps her passion for science and she would get a good job

  • This is what you got after letting them watch to McGuyver.. Good job. :P

  • Another great, fun and safe experiment for kids to do :)

I love how the sheet she put up in this episode looks like my lab at work with bare neutrally painted bricks. Needs a clock and an oxygen-in-air monitor on the wall however.. :)

  • That's just awesome!

  • hey i got that dinosaur thing at the end, but its from a toy lol

  • thumbs up if you saw the oil molecule change emotion!

  • poor handy.. got eaten by stupid dinosaur.. XD

  • hey little gurl u should be a chemistry teacher u will more respect n make a lot of money :)))

  • smart kid, I didn't learn this stuff till high school...

  • Handy got om nommed

  • I love the pointer finger!

  • she snows more then most of the kids in my senior class.....

  • Future bre pettis

  • Very interesting!

Love the voices in the explanation part

  • She is left handed, Awesome! I love making things always have done :)

  • You know, this is one of the few youtube video series hosted by a kid that is actually good. I mean it. She is actually really good.

  • Noooo she cross-threaded the bottle

  • I'm officially giving this masterpiece a "like".

  • YOU STUPID DINOSAUR!!!!!!!!

  • So now you have to decide whether you want to learn about molecular polarity or matter states!

  • the next Bill Nye?

  • When the water becomes saturated and no longer reacts, you can use the costly oil for cooking as long you decant or separate it from the water.

  • Mmmmm nice - and it does excactly what you said it will do - but oil and water and modded PH's are also FOOD for bacteria - so it will go rancid... and it's not a permanently sealed set up on a light bulb - that does last almost forever.

So Kudos for the effort - but I want to see more "DR Germ - Home Science Kits - safe for children" kind of fun, interesting and a reasonable risk of starting fires etc.

  • That was the cutest chemistry lesson EVA

  • I loveed the Smart Bots Thinking Lab, it was so funny :)

  • Can i put guppies in it?

  • 73 people are jealous because a kid is smarter than them...

  • what?! a child can work for makemagazine?! why didn´t anybody told me?! i´m going to get job now!!!

  • I think she may be the next Einstein

  • Does anti-acid pills cause a residue in the oil/water mixture after lots of usage?

  • future kipkay!

  • Keep it up, girl! You are great!

  • Awesome!

By the way, 60 silly people dislike that you call the dinosaur "stupid"...

  • who has citric acid or fizzy tablets lying around in their kitchen... cuz i dont

  • Love the puppet voices lol

  • Lol end of video YOU STUPID DINOSAUR!

  • Get out there and make something

  • she is very cool

  • Oil will mold after a while.

  • This is really good! Great job!! :D :D

  • you can just say that oil is lighter then the water thatws why

  • very good

  • that catterpiller was presenting

  • This is great!

  • LOL @ the oil molecule's face change

  • That kid should so get her own show!!!

  • Another interesting video!

  • are you going to vidcon next year

  • I have to admit, that was actually cool.

  • Is this part of that are you smarter than a 5th grader stuff?

  • Very cool :) do you know what happened to collin?

  • i tried it and it worked

  • what kind of tablet she use? (i dont know English so well )

  • can u pop more than one food coloring colours in ?

  • That's pretty cool!

  • this is the best show in make :D

  • very cool experiment...i was thinking to do something similar...

  • :)

  • i loled @ the little voices in the scientific explantion ahhh!!! i just wanna say hi lol

  • ohh my god she lives in a family of ninjas... fully sick

  • Awesome video. I hope that kid keeps her passion for science.

  • I really like to hear you talk!

  • Love this show!

  • @hackstermaster Carbon takes on many forms. C60 (in solution) is pink, Diamond is transparent, so not all carbon is black. The color of an element or molecule is dependent on it's energy gap, bond length and strength and the size of the particles. For instance, a gold (au) bar is a familiar golden in color, but gold nanoparticles are a browny red color.

  • nice

  • That was great! ^_^

  • She is Great Sylvia! :D

  • Way cooler than my last science teacher.

  • What's up with "Coke instead of water" and "Mentos instead of antacid tablets" ?

...I'll go and ask my friends daughter to do it ;) *naaah joke*

  • this is a great weekend project to make with my nephews, thanks Sylvia =)

  • I enjoyed your lesson and I did not know that, I love doing little expirements.

  • This simply is the best Make has to offer nowadays. I subbed for the Weekend Projects, I wanna watch people actually make stuff. And I don't see that anymore. It seems Make only has vids of already completed projects: "So you guys made a fully automatic pingpong table?" Ok, I want to SEE people create a fully automatic pingpong table, and then learn from it! And imo only Sylvia shows how to do stuff - and throws in a little chemistry lesson while she's at it.

  • @nemoDaedalus I agree with you. But you forgott about collin. He is also making cool stuff.

  • this is going to work once

  • usually people who watch these vids are 10-15year olds (I am 18, I got basics in chemistry..anyway) who don't really care about chemistry. Tough good job.

  • I don't care if the intended Audience is supposed to be younger. My ADHD is appeased.

  • Cool :) But doesnt the oil start to smell after a while ? I guess this Lavalamp is not meant to be a permanent decoration.

  • that story thing you made with the voices that so funny

  • nice idea

  • Shown up by a kid...

  • Sooo.. I have to feed it carbonated stuff for it able to work?

  • You have a great future =D

  • :)

  • awesome great job!

  • Hah! I love the faces on the molecules. :D

  • Having studied chemistry for years, I can say this girl is gonna be a frigging amazing scientist!

  • hehe, i like how you present everything :)

  • :D

  • easy and way cool. :)

  • I'm 15, and the science lesson taught me a little bit...

  • Why can't all kids be this awesome.

  • you going to be popular in high school

  • One of the best explanations of polarity (:

Also, awesome shirt: how about a tie-dye video?

  • Shes gonna be real popular when high school comes !

  • I like the end....

  • WHERE DID YOU GET THE HAND FROM!?!

  • i favorited this.

  • Ahh brain! its fun fun silly willy!

  • nice :P

  • Skip the hard stuf 2:50

  • wayy cool

  • i love that hand-stick

  • That pointer hand makes this all worth watching

  • I liked your animation about oil and water

  • nice!!

  • I wish I had kids to show them this lol

  • I feel like this little girl is smarter than me

  • How long does the effect last?

  • I wish I had kids to show the this lol

  • i swear to god i fell asleep during the little science session

  • @destroyeroflight23 You're probably the type of person that just falls asleep in school regardless. Well, unless it's time for lunch or football. Thanks for increasing the workforce of this wonderful nation. ^_^

  • Is that collin's basement?

  • Excellent work, Sylvia!

  • Cool
