why the fuck would someone weld a rim with a tire on it in the first place? you have to be retarded for doing that. and thats what you get for being that dumb
I remember a news story out of Los angleles back in the early 90s where a guy decided to weld a mounted rim and when the tire blew it decapitated him.
@nosajj12345 same thing happened here. my friend was at the tire shop when it happened. they warned the guy several times to take the core out, he said that he'd done it many times before. My friend left the room and BOOM!! took off the top of the dumbshit's head.
I known 4 people who overinflated tractor tyres and not small lawnmowers, serious combine harvester and massive Fendt and John Deere sized tyres. They are simply not to be trusted. Anyone who uses lighter fuel or combustable fluids are stupid, even though I did do that myself in emergencies.
Tired of checking tire pressure? Try Quick Pressure tire pressure monitor caps (available from PSI 26 to PSI 165). Just replace your valve stem caps with the monitors, then the monitor will show green if the tire is properly inflated, otherwise it will start to show red. The monitors are welded, chrome plated brass, high quality.
I'm sorry to hear about your father. Be carefull to follow the instructions on the sealant can as many sealants use a combination of isobutane and propane as a propellent. This gas combination can be compressed to a much higher pressure for the purpose of partially reinflating a tire, besides sealing it.
Enter two cans of Patch-A Flat by Tradco Corp. And the rim went 300 yards after the rim hit my father in the head! He was not stupid, just following orders from his piece off shit boss, who would fire him if he did not follow an order.. He did remove the valve core, which probably gave the propellent oxygen. The cans of tire sealer were found hidiing behind the seat of the costumers truck After his death ALL tire sealant companies pulled the 80% propane fill cans off the market.
When you say innerliner do you mean innertube? So you're saying that an innertube has just the right mix of fuel and oxidizer that it'll combust in a completely enclosed space? It's like an engine cylinder in a diesel engine where the piston is slowly compressing the fuel air mixture. As soon as it reaches a certain pressure it combusts? Or is it the rate of pressure change? Right at the end you could see both pressure and temp rising EXTREMELY fast.
@sferrari81 This was a tubeless tire. Think of the innerliner as a built in innertube. The chemical compounds in the innerlinner will combust inside the air cavity provided there is enough pressurized air to support combustion. A fire would start regardless, but go out after using up the air-if not for a sufficient air volume under pressure. It's simply a matter of heat, fuel and enough air. The combustion process is what builds the pressure.
I don't quite understand... Why did the temperature continue to rise after the welding was over? Was it a case of heat spreading from the centre towards the tyre area?
The heat of the weld started a fire inside the tire's air cavity, beginning in the bead area. The hydrocarbons and chlorine in the innerliner fueled the fire and the air inflation supported it. Note the large volume of black smoke.
You're wrong. I've watched this happen to tires that are unseated and deflated. There's a process called Pyrolysis that the rubber will decompose producing heat, smiler to the detonation of an explosive.
A repair facility at a truck stop actually did this after discovering a leak at the center disc/rim interface. I did this to demonstrate the consequences of doing something this dumb. The plaintiff alledged the tire had a defective bead. Hopefully, this video may prevent someone else from doing the same thing.
I wish my local greasemonkey was sitting over that rim when it blew up!

@Oldgmlover What kind of morons thought it was a good idea to pressurize cans of anything with PROPANE instead of just AIR!!!
NativePrairieWolf 4 months ago
@NativePrairieWolf because if you used air you would run low on pressure long before you ran out of liquid to be dispensed.

That was cool. I learned two things. Don't weld on a rim with a tire on it and that a truck tire can hold almost 300 psi before blowing up

WOW! In the last 4 seconds, the pressure rose 100psi and the temperature increased 1000 DEGREES. In FOUR SECONDS.
I bet it went even higher then the sensors recorded. The rate it was increasing, there must have been some lag.
Sweet.
