Pretty soon I'll be living in Missouri for the first time in 7 years. I am 17 now. Pretty soon I'm going to be feeling Deja Vu in direction imaginable.
david crosby is the master songsmith harmony vocalist.I used to think it was old Neil as he was the most famous in the day but have discovered Crosby The golden voiced man, awesum.
David Crosby is a great artist who walks in the sand of Hanalei Bay Hawaii while holding hands with Jan. We love and respect your artistry David Crosby your generous lyrics about life and delightful music soothes mankind mahalo. We walked in the sand with David Crosby and Jan we hugged. We talked it was grand today was a special Sunday June, 26, 2011 Woodstock reunion. We were close to the stage in Woodstock 1969 saw each band perform. We are in the Woodstock 1969 Movie thank you David Crosby.
what a great team. these guys are very unique. goes to show that great chemistry is all that is needed to make a good band. these harmonies are ridiculously good....by even classical music standards.
I photographed CSN&Y 42 years ago in 1969 when they sang Down By the River on The Music Scene for ABC TV. Have a look by Googling "cacheagency" Once you link to the site, click on Photographers and Collections. Then click on Jeff Allen. Hope you enjoy exploring the over 350 rock photographs from 1968-72 I shot , I'd love your feedback! One of my Pink Floyd photos from 1970 was in last September's issue of Rolling Stone magazine for the upcoming "Wall" article they did on Roger Waters.
My God, These UNBIELIVABLY TALENTED OVER THE TOP STELLER BEAUTIFUL FULL OF HEART AND SOUL....NOT ENOUGH WORDS FOR THESE MUSICANS AND THIS SONG AND ALL OF THE SONGS THEY SANG...You all were with me every single Day of my Life growing into a young hippie prairiechik in Texas and damn you're still settin my heart on fire! ROCK ON FOREVER!
I just saw Crosby Nash in Pittsburgh...David has not missed a beat. this video sounds great 20 years after they did it, and it sounds great 20 years even later!!!
Stephen was the king in this DVD he made up for the fact that everyone thinks Graham and David are good guitar players They are in their own right But no body can play like My Stephen, Clapton may be a Blues man but Stephen and BB are THE bLuesmen.!!!
Stephen Stills was sucking it up in this video, he's so much better than that, I don't know why he was playing so bad in this video. It sounded like cheesy 80's fusion jazz guitar solos
@kifani1 I remember going to see Stills in Dallas back in the late 70s. He kept the crowd waiting for almost 2 hours. Then, when he arrived, his heart just wasn't in it. (And that's being polite.) I guess it's hard to do what they do all the time, but still... When they're good though! Damn, nothing like it.
It breaks ym heart to know that all people die one day; you can only wish they'd play till you died, then you'd be happy; but I can't wish for that because I can't be selfish.
im so sad because it looks as though ill never ever get to go see Crosby, Stills, and Nash. im 14 years old and this is my favorite band next to led zeppelin, but unfortuantly i will never get to see either.
David Crosby is an absolute genius. "Deja Vu" and "Guinnevere" are two of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've ever heard. He has such a knack for beautiful melodies and chords. Bravo Mr. Crosby!!!!
@dmreeoogdaq Glad you fel that way but Crosby based "Deja Vu" off of Essra Mohawk's "I Have Been Here Before" (on YT) as he'd specifically ask her to play it for him. 40 years later, he still has not given her credit for it...
The bretheren.. CSN &Y .from the 70's renaissance music period..... a music explosion...experiments in consciousness! A Testament to "Reincarnation".....(yes we have all lived before)....Funny that CSN&Y figured that out long before alot of others did!
of course. then again their 1st self-titled debut release was w/o y and was an incredible album. it was one of the reasons i went out and bought an acoustic.
What sensational artists. Always loved CSNY. Incredible song, and what a message! Love this. THANK you so much for posting this treasure! Blessings, min :-)
Crosby classics Deja Vu and Wooden Ships both got first rate treatment in this concert. Crosby is 50 here, but clean and healthy. You can hear it in his voice.
I just secured a ticket to see them in NC on Wednesday! Do you know what this means to me? I can't begin to express.... I was at Kent State. Does that tell you something? This is a serious "bucket list" item for me, and I am terribly excited. CSN is such a part of my early youth and as you can read, my present too. Deju Vu is my favorite song of all time. If I could make a wish on these Carolina stars.....
@bufferg27 I've been to 3 C,S,N & Y concerts, as well as one without Young. Also Buffalo Springfield a few month ago. You likely were not disappointed! They were & are great, with a history going back 40 years.
@bufferg27 I hope you enjoyed the concert. I also don't hope you have too many concerts of old acts like this one your bucket list. You might need to rob a bank in order to be able to go see them all! These guys charge ALOT of money for a show.
SailingOneO and deadhead1065: Wish you guys were sharing some smoke in my living room right now. CSN (Y) is a band so emotionally close to my heart, to my life. My brother and I both went to Kent State very, very close to "that" time. But it was more than that. These amazing artists articulated our feelings on a grand scale, and we are (still) grateful. Got tickets for the first time in my life to see them in NC soon. I can't tell you how happy I am. It's a "bucket list" item for me.
Back in ancient times (Mid 60's thru 70's), it was music. You could sing along. There was a melody and rythym and beat. And when you heard a song, even if it was new, you knew who was singing it. Today, I cannot tell one 'artist' from another - they all sound the same. Rock on.
@torchcutter ...Credit should go to Essra Mohawk whose "I Have Been Here Before" inspired this song. Check the link. Essra also wrote Cyndi Lauper's "Change of Heart" & sang "Interjections" for Schoolhouse Rock.
This is a beautiful rendition of one of their great songs. Seeing them and hearing them
with their world-class harmonies was a real treat. I can't find the original Helplessly Hoping on YT. I wish they would not show covers for famous musicians. If anyone
Just watched (again) CSNY's documentary "Déjà vu". Once in a while I go back to their 1991 (without Young) Live Concert video. Both are great! So, thank you deadhead1065 for the opp. to watch it again here on youtube. These guys are amazing; they put their hearts and minds into their songs, beautifully. I'll never give up on protesting against nasty, useless wars promoted by no matter which government or country!..Vietnam, Iraq, Gaza,...the list is miserably long, unfortunately! Peace!
@SailingOne0 do you know ? don't you wonder ? what's goin on ? down under you ? it started with b. springfield........what a group..........................of men, nash-crosby-still-young whatever order !
How about a CSN concert to benefit Americans praying for jobs? Nobody seems to care about the 5 million "boomers" who still can't find work. We're old now and of little value to the capitalist regime. A good CSN cheer up might just be the Karma booster we need ! Y'all could call it: CSN-a spark of LIFE! Yeah, that's the ticket!
All three are at the peak of their powers in this performance. Very well could be better than the original studio version, which I grew up worshiping, basically, along with the rest of the album.
@reeblite, Crosby is playing a martin D-45, Stills is playing a Gretsch White Falcon, and Nash is either playing an ovation or a Gibson Chet Atkins model.
My dad's favorite group. My first concert was Crosby, Stills, Nash was Young there? I forget. Along with Fleetwood Mac. My dad died 9 years now, when I miss him I listen to his music and I feel like he's with me!
i loved living in the city in this golden musical era. these guys were around a lot. last time for free @ bill grahm's concert in the park. it was lovely, sad & retro.
3 months on and this still gives me goosebumps Mr Crosby, u are wonderful and those who slag you off when you have been through bad times all i can say is they can go to hell-----------a place where you have been many times in the past i guess----------ha! ha!
@IrishGary Since you are so moved, you'd prob be interested in Essra Mohawk as it was her "I Have Been Here Before" from the mother album of "grrrl power" - Primordial Lovers - that inspired this tune. Essra also wrote for Cyndi Lauper, Bob Weir, Tina Turner, etc. Enjoy!
IMHO-CSN harmonizes better than or as good as any rock , country, folk, pop, soul group ever! Their music and lyrics expands consciousness and relaxes one at the same time. Aesthetically pleasing to the ear!
@mdandrea39 Isn't it wonderful? My brain always feels as though its suspended in mid-air when I listen to this, as the guitar work gleams like the stars against the night sky...
Dude ... if you are over 50 dont be a hater dude... like your dad... just chill , hit a Panama doob and chill. These kids get it and now with obummer in... they'll be speakin chinese before they're dead so... it's all good man... just grab a doob and chill....Rock on Vaughn
jackaroe2293 ... LOL... dont worry about the haters... there are alot at my age 52... LOL... our parents were freakin out about our hair length and we're freakin out about you having to pay off obummers debt... but dude if you just chill and hit a doob ocassionally( i mean only occasionally :) )... it'll all turn out okay... just learn this music and hold it close... learn it... feel it... enjoy it... and vote conservative!!! LOLO... that way we can keep things free... Rock On!
@pavaughn i see what you're saying but we don't all listen to shit. don't generalize. the last time i saw csn live a woman yelled at me that i don't know who they "really are." I enjoy their music as much as or more than she and you ever did and i'm 17 years old
@PocoPortillo - He can thank Essra Mohawk for that too as her "I Have Been Here Before" from PRIMORDIAL LOVERS inspired "Deja Vu" though he never mentions that....tsk, tsk, tsk.
@pavaughn 16 here avid CSN-Y , Grateful dead and " The Band" fan here and almost all my friends don't listen to crap but your right most people my age do. Although i'm creeped out by one of my friends beatles fetish. Memorizing their height and weight, ability to show how John got killed like he was a csi investigater from memory, dressing up like a beatle, having 5 rickenbacker guitars because the beatles used them and having a beatles room that puts ned Flanders to shame :S
@pavaughn your right, even though some of us still listen to bands like this. i{m twelve years old, and since I can remember, Ive been listening to The Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Pink floyd, etc. I hate Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Justin Beiver, etc. Hope people will apprecieate real music in the future. (I know my spelling sucks) =)
You're a good kid (sorry-I mean young man) ! Take what you learn from these folks and learn to play guitar (or any musical instrument) and strike out on your own---YOU could be the next CSN too! This world is presently devoid of any real musical talent. Do your best in school, and pay no attention to those who tell you you can't do great things too! And your spelling is fine. Now go compose your first song. We'll be waiting.
@pavaughn Ummm ... honey ... I may DJ clubs and house parties ... and have been born in 1977 ... but I know good music when I hear it. I used to "borrow" my mum's CSN and Y back in the 1990's along with her Genesis and ELP :)
They're coming to Buffalo, NY this summer with Tom Petty! One of the few bands I've never gotten to see. Now I can cross them off my "Still Haven't Seen Yet" list. What a dream come true!
Absolutely right brother!!! Took me back to those wondrous, magical, PEACEFUL DAZE!! Lying in my back, all sweet smoked-up, starin' off into a million-pearled galaxy, as my lady's tender lips soothed my sunburned brow. Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Wonderful............

I think the Moody blues are the only ones to compare with them
mrwilson41 1 year ago
@mdandrea39 Isn't it wonderful? My brain always feels as though its suspended in mid-air when I listen to this, as the guitar work gleams like the stars against the night sky...

Crosby: makes all the tired, derivative pop acts we have now look like pulp.
All of them are great in this performance, Crosby in particular. Not bad for
a 50 year old acidhead.
