Where I currently live I pay 650.00 a month for rent, utilities, cable, Internet, 200 a month for food, 75 for gas, how would that compare to NYC standards.

whats up, my friend and I were thinking of moving to nyc, all we have is 2400 dollars a piece, and a year of college, do you know where would be the best or safest place to live in NYC for around 1000 dollars a month, and if it's not possible to find a safe place for that much, please be honest. Where I currently live I pay 650.00 a month for rent, utilities, cable, Internet, 200 a month for food, 75 for gas, how would that compare to NYC standards.
